a few questions about ink tablets
Ink tablets? Never heard of them.
Do you mean computer tablets which simulate paper and pen? Or do you mean tabs of compressed ink that you would use with a real brush to ink on paper?

yeah lol...im a noob to everything involved in drawing other than pencils...and i still have some work to do in that!
Do you mean graphics tablets? The most popular kind is wacom. They're electronic and you draw on the tablet using an electronic pen instead of a mouse. The drawing appears on your computer in whatever program you're using, instead of on paper!
They're fairly expensive if you buy them new (99-900 dollars depending on which one) but I got a slightly used one on e-bay for about $40 plus shipping.
ah at my age 99-900 dollars is far more than i can afford...something to add to a wishlist
That's what parents are for! *nod* *nod*
And look on e-bay, they have some good deals sometimes.
Ya, what was said before. There's several different brands out there, but after doing some research, I've come to find that, for the most part, all the other tablets are pretty much sub-par to the wacom's. For the most part, they tend to have less sensitive pens (don't pick up on your pens movement or pressure very well) but they are way cheaper... get what you pay for I guess
As wacom's go, if your really interested in picking one up, I'd say hunt ebay, you might find a bargain. A lot of the older discontinued models are going for fairly cheap, how ever, if your going for an older tablet that's not a usb, make sure you find out if it's compatible with your system. If you happen to be using an older mac, or have a adb to usb converter, then you can get a real nice 6"x8" tablet for a no more then a touch over 30 with shipping. Hell, if you want something like that, I can hook you up with a nice Intuos II 6x8 for under 20! I hate having to learn the difference between mac and pc... damned mac's! *shakes fist at macs*
never used a mac accept when forced to at school and hopefully never will again

The big caution to buying a Wacom tablet on eBay is to MAKE SURE THE STYLUS (pen) IS INCLUDED. Many of them on there don't have the stylus. So you think to yourself "I bet I can just get a new stylus on Wacom.com!" And you go to Wacom.com and realize quickly that the PEN is the expensive part of the tablet, not the tablet itself. And your handy little bargain is doubled in price, if not more.
(No, this never happened to me. Luckily I checked the price of new pens BEFORE bidding. I'm just saying be careful.)
Having purchased a tablet about 3 months ago here is my advice.
1. Wacom
2. They have various lines the Graphire is the home/hobby line. You can get a small one of these for around $80 online. The intous is the more serious model line and teh small one there is about $175 online. Then they get vary expensive. The main differences in the 2 are pen sensitivity, hotkeys actually on the tablet, and tilte sensing features.
3. Judge your size the small is 3 x 5 and they get vary large. Small is cheeper and is may be enough depening on how you draw. The tablet when using the pen is your screen. Press on one corner that is where you curser is etc. So you need to judge how long a stroke you use to draw and how you brain will deal with the upscaling to screen size. Most people seem most happy with the 6 x 8 from what I have read. An that is my size and I like it alot, would not want any larger.
4. as for ebay, just to stress, make sure it comes with the pen!!!! The pen is about 40% of the cost of the tablet.
Tablets are definitely the awesome. I love mine, though I think i should have sprung for the bigger size (I got the 4x5 one). But then I couldn't carry it around and hide it on my lap when I'm at work
my main one ...what are they exactly? ive done serches but havent found anything
how much do they cost?
wher can you get them?
and my last question. How do you use them?
