The rustle of newspaper blowing in the gutters and the omnipresent hum of my power are the only sounds, now. Five minutes ago, it was a different story...

A bottle breaks, and ugly laughter sends a crow from its telephone wire vantage point. Three Hellions are celebrating another sucessful escape from Galaxy City's finest. But dont let the bravado fool you, they are afraid. They must be, I could smell it when I got off of the tram from Atlas. Thats why I love this city. Everyone is scared. But the gangs, especially. With the police, and the heroes, they have a right to be. And no one misses them when they turn up dead... Like I said, I love this city.

From the tram, I follow their fear to the garment disctict. Three of them, standing under an overhang to another dilapated warehouse and practically trembleing with fear, despite thier posturing...easy.

I round the corner and they fall silent, confused by my sudden presence. Im smiling, and walking toward them, but they stare, perplexed. Dark, opaque tendrils spill from my sleeves, my pantlegs, my collar; I am still walking and still smiling, but its no longer friendly. Red leather gloves split at the knuckles, clipped cleanly by the extending blades. In a whoosh, the first Hellion is left bleeding and dead, but still standing, his knees locked and bent over at the waist. By the time he falls over, the second Hellion is lifeless and caught on my left claw. I push him off, careful to keep my clothes clean, and turn to the third. The fear from him is intoxicating, and as I pause to drink it in. He pivots and sprints, hopping a tall fence almost impossibly, and begins to dissapear into the night.

And so the only sound is the rustle of newspaper in the gutter, and the omnipresent hum of my power. Shadows on the ground seem to dissapate. I straighten my tie, and pull down my sleeves. So much fear in this town. Thats why I love it here.

So, I take it you'll be picking up Cloak of Fear at 28 then?

Must be tough to get a date, huh?

While interesting you would probably get better reviews for this masterpiece of writing here, rather then the AT specific section.

I sneak silently into the forums like a ghost on rollerblades. The forumites post here and there, unaware of my presence, unaware of the confusion I sow. Many people read the forums every day, hoping for some crumb of wisdom to drop from the lips of the forum cartel. They hope to find answers to their questions. They are confused, and I feed off confusion- that's why I love it here.

I find a topic where some n00b has asked which is better for PvP, Sonic or Dark defenders. Ha! Ha ha! I grin to myself, this will be easy pickings. I dust off my keyboard... I start to post.

Words pour out like melted butter over a tall stack of fresh pancakes. I write a detailed argument why empath defenders don't like to be called healers, then proceed to disect the differences between the human-only and tri-form kheld builds. My post has nothing to do with the original poster's question. Ha! I reread my post and add a few spelling and grammar errors to throw the forumistas off my trail. I throw in some leetspeak so people know I'm down with the street, as it were. I replace my Es with 3s. I feel so powerful. As coup de grace, I end it with a Chuck Norris joke and change the Subject Header.

I hit "save." I grin. I wait like a tiger stalking prey through an African jungle.

I don't have to wait long- in five minutes I have two replies objecting to my objections about healers, and one more asking whether I was talking about PBs or WSs. Ha! The original poster has been ignored! He shall remain confused this day, and his question shall go unanswered! I feed off confusion, chaos is my puppy. That's why I love it here.

I am confusion.
I am annoying.

I'd take you alot more seriously if you didn't use Leet to spell your character's name.

That said, nice story.

I agree, but I had already settled on the character name, and then it was taken, so I was kinda in a jam...
