Slow Poster's Paradise (Potential Open-RP)

Gauging interest in a slow post rate open roleplay thread.

I do like some of the fast paced roleplays, but there are other good writers that can’t post as often. That can’t keep up with some of the role plays on the boards and end up dropping off, or having a lower level of participation as events move on between their post.

The idea is setting a max post, of two per day per participant, or something similar. (To be determined). I do encourage longer more descriptive post, and I do encourage Private Messages to coordinate actions between people.

The main point to be determined is setting/environment.

So is there any interest?

Also taking suggestions for setting?

I've never had a chance to RP Hermod himself or any of a dozen other characters. But I really don't have the time to get involve with a fast posting one. So if it's possible to have a slow going one, sign me up.

This would definitely fit my posting schedule as well as my personal inclinations better. Don't get me wrong, I love AH101, but it seems every other post I'm catching up on a bunch of stuff that happens while I'm away working sometimes crazy hours.

I'd love to have an outlet for some of the other characters I've come up with in-game too, expand the stories that the limited biography space won't let me tell. I'm hesitant to introduce another one in an existing thread though, not only because of my limited posting schedule, but because many are already overcrowded with characters.

Those of you who have been following Jodie's adventures will also know I often post big. Part of this is from catching up on things, but I also like detail, getting into a character's head and writing how they view the world. A slow-post thread would be better for that kind of approach.

So yeah, count me interested. Er, once I get back from my trip, anyway...

As for setting, I'd suggest something without frequent fighting, since fight sequences more than anything else drive up the post count in a thread. Maybe heroes and villains having to work together, shoring up defenses against a third faction, hostile and powerful, which everyone knows is coming...

Quickly growing post fountains are one reason I don't usually manage to post to these forums. If I'm on here I'm way too busy reading stuff. And by the time I'm done, there are new posts in the threads I just read. Definitely interested.

As for setting suggestions... are we talking heroes or villains? Or is that also on the to be determined table?

Sounds cool! I tend to spend more time in-game than on the forums, and all the ones that look like fun are already at the multi-hundred page mark. I'll keep an eye on this and if it gets started I'll jump in with Marshall Stack, whom I created to RP with in the first place.

Well, since Super Villians 101 died it may make a good setting.

However I wouldn't remake the Dark Wing academy. It would be more like Anti-Hero 101 taking in darker characters hero and villain ATs without the mercerancy aspect, just devoting to being a school for super types, that could not be accepted at Golden Eagle.

I'd be up for it. I'm busy all the time, but I'd love to start roleplaying here, either with Zephyr Cyclone or Schysm, or even Rabite or F4027, who I created to roleplay with, but could never find any opportunities to in-game.

That sounds pretty cool. I mean, they've got the idea running on AH101, but if we focused more on the personal interaction and day to day activities (with a twist of course, to maintain entertainment value) we'd have ourselves a nice little, SLOW POSTING community.

I guess it'd be the theme of AH101, with a similar setting and atmosphere to PU...for lack of a better analogy.

Sounds like fun! I would like to join with either Diamond's Ace (hero) or A.C. (villain). Would we be teenagers or adults? Diamond's Ace is an adult, A.C. a teen...I guess I could turn A.C. into a hero if necessary...I'll bookmark this and keep reading the updates.
As for suggestions, even though there are a ton of highschool ORPs, it would be cool if we did something like Hero 101...never read any of AH-101 but I will get to it since that is mentioned a lot here.

An idea for setting just popped into my head...The Brightstar Intergallactic Refuge Center. Heroes from all galaxies (ours included) come to this space station to seek aid against a world takeover, (i.e. Rikti) Rise of a super super-villain (Imagine Recluse w/o a Statesman to help), etc...Each poster would have a hero that came to this refuge center or have a hero/human who runs it and they form a supergroup and do intergalactic missions and what not. What do you guys think?

Main issue I see with your proposal is that it may be a bit too big in scale for some people's characters. Mine tend to be a mix of street-level people and some rather large concepts (like a guy who basically is an entire dimension on his own), but other people might prefer a more 'normal' setting. Never mind that I'd assume some people -myself included- would prefer a story being rooted more firmly in the CO* universe.

Therapy Group X

A high security asylum somewhere in the Rogue Isles. Some people just pass through, but most stay forever. Some of the inmates are captured heroes, some are villains who consider the whole thing a vacation -- or are too dangerous even for Recluse to let run free, but too valuable to kill outright. Of course, the characters would likely be some of the more lucky inmates who didn't end up being used to power a drone or as spare parts for the Facemaker or for whatever makes people scream in the basement all night long.


Likely not everyone's taste, but at least I made a suggestion, heh.

I am still paying attention here.

I am still stumped on the initial setting, though there have been several great suggestions so far. I am also working with a few people in PM’s to on the concept.

1) Just wanna' have fun and explore a little deeper into my character's history.

2) Maybe 2 or 3...very max, I think, should be 5.

I liked Eisregen's idea and I read a little of AH-101 and something along that lines would be cool too.

Maybe something like a Longbow / [whatever Recluse's team is called] training facility? I dunno, I guess that would kind've not allow mercenary/'lone wolf' characters.

Lord Recluse's servants have taken over Paragon City. The heroes have been forced into hiding and each day, the city of Paragon becomes more influenced by Lord Recluse. But as a final stand, a group of heroes have band together to try and send Recluse and his forces back to the Rogue Isles.

This would allow all types of heroes to be involved: Street-style (Back Alley Brawler, for example), Traditional hero (Like Statesman and Sister Psyche), and even the loners (Think of how Manticore finally joined the Freedom Phalanx in the comics).

I had a similar idea where Peregrine Island becomes a hazard zone where people get trapped between opposing forces. The problem is it would be more combat intensive than character building. Its combat situations that accelerate the post-rate to be beyond the participation level of some.

Just thought of this. Though some mentioned an asylum earlier......

The Clinic.

A hospital created post Rikti war to care for metahumans. Hero and Villain. Truly, Villainous types would be transported to the Zig infirmary so everyone would be encouraged to get along (somewhat).

It gives space to plenty of NPC’s Doctors, Nurses, maintenance, security staff, and specialist in Magic and Technology. Everyone would have one patient to start and be able to create an NPC staffer.

Power use wouldn’t be restricted (unless dangerous) and there would be opportunities to have controlled practice in Rehab sessions.

Call it a hospital, mental care facility and hero Spa to get their head on right again.
