Gallery software?
I'm not sure how simple or complex this is, but Coppermine Photo Gallery is a gallery that I've seen used a LOT over the years. Categories, albums, thumbnails, captions and comment boxes, it offers pretty much everything.
Also check out HotScripts for loads of free scripts, including galleries.
Those are great sites Lush. I might look into getting one for myself as well.

hm...I'm not too familiar with PHP. my site's hosted through Yahoo-Geocities and I saw a PHP editor though...
*scratches his head and sighs*
Coppermine is one of the best free galleries you'll find.
I just wrote a MOD to exclude selected galleries from the random pictures section.
Ditch Yahoo, get cheap Linux hosting at godaddy, and you'd be in business. Coppermine has detailed instructions how to get it set up. It's not rocket science.

DeviantArt is very free, and pretty good management. A bit annoying to upload one picture at a time so when you're first getting things set up it can be a pain in the butt. But as you add things one at a time it's not too bad. Plus you can have comments and all that already built in, and most of the DA folks are really friendly.
I just went ahead and signed up for geocities. I wanted to keep my site and gallery no frills. I didn't want to go through deviantart because the site seemed to run pretty slow. I think my monthly payment to keep my yahoo site is somewhere around $10-15 a month. I just use Yahoo's Page Builder to organize it.
Hey there everyone. I've been unhappy with Photobucket's services, so I'm in the process of creating a personal website to house my collection of pictures references, and other relevant stuff. Does anyone know of any freeware that helps create simple, but nice looking thumbnail galleries with captions?
