The Battle for Tokyo (Open RP)
Jay and the ground crew were working on linking up the final bits of the right shoulder launcher when suddenly alarms began blaring, accompanied by the traditional red lights.
"<Warning! All pilots to their mecha! An unidentified Class Ten demon is approaching the base! All unassigned mecha are to report to combat stations immidiately! All super powered personnel are to report to Commander Sai! And all non-combatants are warned to enter the nearest safety bunker!" a man called out over the intercom. "I repeat, all mecha are ordered to combat status..."
"A Class Ten?" Smith wondered as he slotted in the last power connection. "What the hell is that?"
"I think I'll be finding out," Jay replied as he hurridly wiped his hands off on a dirty rag and started climbing up Laserblade's back. "Get that launcher secured and the last of the ammo loaded! I have a bad feeling that they're going to need everyone out there."
"Got it, Jay," Smith replied and then started shouting orders at the other crew as he climbed off the shoulder.
About two minutes passed, they felt like hours, before the last checks were made and Laserblade was cleared for deployment. By then, Jay had seen almost a dozen other mecha walk past him from deeper within the base, some of whom looked to be about ten times as old as Laserblade's youngish three years. With a thunk and a hiss, the last cable disconnected and the mecha lumbered to its feet.
"<Command, this is Laserblade. I'm ready for deployment,>" Jay called up on the comm. "<I've never been given a defense assignment and I was hoping->"
"Laserblade!" a harried sounding technician interupted. "<Proceed directly to gate 3 and assist the defenders there! The Class Ten seems to be entering from that direction and all avaliable firepower is needed to take it down. Go quickly!>"
"<Aye, command,>" Jay replied as he throttled Laserblade up to a trot. "<Proceeding to Gate 3.>"

((Yeah, in that case she would see a single thought repeating over and over and over again - hence the name mono shield. It takes a really simple thought and coats the mind in it. She would definetely see that they weren't human, though, meaning she would know they were not mutants or humans changed in any way, but completely foreign. If you'd like to do something like this again, please consult with me next time ))
The Crawler's side doors closed and sealed as the engines roared to life. They sounded like turbines, but there was no apparent space for them or a source of fuel.
"Driver, get us going!" Allen ordered, strapping into a seat beside his troopers. He would never ask any of them to do anything he wouldn't do himself - something he thought every officer should hold as his or her highest standard.
The inside wasn't comfortable, but then it hadn't been designed for comfort, but for efficiency. Only the control indicators from the driver and the front and rear gunners provided illumination, a mix of colored light, but mainly orange. Definetely not enough to chase the dark gloom from the Crawler's interior.
The convoy started rolling, then rapidly sped up, crashing through ruins and rubble that littered the roads outside of Shunjuku Station like they weren't even there.
If Sae looked over to the readouts on the driver's instruments, the would see the crawler was rapidly approaching the 300 km/h mark...and yet it still turned on a dime...

"An impressive machine." The Mage mused as he cast a spell of light to show the interior.
"I am impressed."
Toshio looked up at the annoucement, and swore.
"Kuso...Sonna de mendoukusei na...." he grumbled, complaining to himself. The man knew that until this was taken care of, he would have no help.
Toshio pounded his fists together and followed the mecha, allowing electricity to fizzle up his arms, tossing back another heavy drink from his flask.
Things were about to get fun.

(OOC: Like I said, she sees beyond space, time, and planes. She doesn't need to see directly into your mind, she can see back to a point when you actually said those words. But she doesn't see everything at once, she usually has to focus to see details. I'll just say now that she's the reason that anyone is alive in Tokyo right now, and that she shouldn't technically exist. I'll get into more detail with her later but until then you'll just have to trust me and roll with this.)
The Ginza portal.
The small battalion of tanks pulled up to the portal and were immediately swarmed by large demons shaped like snakes, and some looking like giant turtles.
"Ignore everything, don't shoot or stop," Chiyoko said.
The distraction worked, and before long the tank went barreling through the portal.
On the other side, they were greeted by a massive gorilla-like demon, easily larger than the tallest building on earth.
"Now, we fight..." Chiyoko said, looking down...or at least it looked like she was looking down.
The Mage folded his arms, a steady cloud of mist exhuming from every opening in his robes and seeping out the vents. As the cloud passed over the occupants of the tank, they found they could see through it easily, and small aches from the ride or past battles suddenly faded.
Zombie warriors began to rise in front of the tank, but there was no presence in them. The mage was only using them as extensions of himself.
It was clear he planned to remain in the tank and cast spells from afar.
(OOC: Where are the zombies coming from?)
((Seeeeeeekriiiiit.))
(OOC: No seriously...we're in another plane of existence with no human corpses around...)
Allen was impressed. This thing was easily larger than the Emperor - though its power certainhly didn't seem to compare to it from the initial readings.
"Doeply Alpha Troop." he ordered and as the now slower-moving Crawler kept going, hatches opened on is back beside where the large rear turret had been folded in.
The sparate comparments released assault bots into the battle field, the Crawler carrying six, but releasing only two.
The bots were ready to fight...

(OOC: If all the crawlers went through the portal so would all the demons out there. Add to that there's no way that the superiors could know that the portal is a one way trip or not i.e. no way to get out once you go through and close the portal. They wouldn't want to risk their entire offensive force on one strike through one portal.)
Meanwhile at Akihabara, the demon had breached the first line of defenses and came face to face with the Mecha defenses. The child didn't do more than walk forward, but the shadow struck out at the mecha, destroying a number of them and killing many soldiers. What was worse, the shadow didn't seem to be affected by any weapons, and it would stop any ammo aimed at the child with its claws.
((HAH - found a way to weasel myself out of their mentaility ))
"They're through. Echo Squad, Echo two is changing call signs. Echo Two is now Pack Leader. Spread out and take it to 'em!"
The crawlers outside the portal could now fulfill the second part of their misison: retaking Ginza.
The night blazed brighter than the day as the battle began, robots and troopers with the support of their vehicles' cannons tearing demons to shreds left and right...
((We'll say they are doing that ))

(OOC: That definately works )
"\Ok guys we have a monkey to beat!\" Sae commanded.
Sae's entire team, minus Chiyoko, exited the crawler.
Sae drew her pistols, Eichiro readied his mallet, Ryuji prepared an ice shield around himself and Chihaya, and ZERO summoned(OOC: summoning works, btw, I was curious because it sounded like the zombies came out of the ground) a large gatling gun in one hand and a large cannon in the other.
Sae leapt towards the beast, narrowly avoiding the debris from its attack. She opened fire on the beast's arms. She cringed when it shrugged them off as little more than mosquito bites.
ZERO meanwhile began firing at the beast's head, inflicting slightly more damage.
Chihaya took out her sacred baton, and uttered an incantation. On the ground in front of her, a beast resembling Fuega, but with a more sleek appearance, appeared in a gust of wind. Chihaya mounted the beast and took off to the air.
She began calling down lightning on the beast, not dealing much damage but doing something.
Ryuji, meanwhile, began launching ice darts at the beasts legs, causing much of it to freeze. His goal was to freeze its legs to the ground.
Eichiro, meanwhile, stayed back to protect the crawler.
((Let's just say it has something to do with the bones he ground into those Holy potions. I put them as coming out of the dirt because he's literally forming them out of the mist coming from the vents.))
A large, modern-day weapon of some sort appeared in each Zombie's hands, and they opened up.
The Mage, now atop the tank, still radiating the mist, threw disorienting potions at the demon.
(OOC: I thought Toshio was in Akihabara? Sae's team, the mage, and the weird non-human dudes are beyond the portal, which was surrounded by demons)
*DOUBLE POST*
"This does not look good," Jay muttered to himself as he stodd shoulder to waist with what appeared to be a perfect replica of an Atlas from BattleTech.
The BattleMech confirmed its identity when it launched a barrage of long range missiles, a pair of emerald lasers beams, and a depleted-uranium slug at the demon child. But that impressive display of firepower meant nothing when the shadow simply reached down and blocked the fusilade with its claws. At the same time another mecha fired a trio of blue beams at the shadow demon itself which also accomplished nothing.
"<Someone call up one of the other bases!>" Jay shouted into his comm. "<This thing isn't being touched by conventional weaponry!>"
When he didn't hear anything back from command and another mecha had been crushed by a giant shadowy fist, Jay switched his comm. link to wide area.
"<Everybody! Stop aiming at the demon itself. If we keep shooting at the child, the shadow should do nothing but protect its host. And then if we can flank it, we might be able to end this now!>"
"<Copy that.>"
"<Sounds good.>"
"<Let's teach this thing what it's messing with!>"
The mecha now took aim at their new target and opened up with everything they had while several broke free from the fortifications and dashed around the demon, hoping to plant a few slugs and laser beams in its back.

Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
(OOC: Wow, you figured that one out quick!)
The shadow struggled to protect its host, but to no avail.
A shell flew right past the defenses and hit the child in the head.
The shadow demon broke free and let out a scream of agony before flying off.
Suddenly, one of the mecha surrounding the body exploded. A shadow, vaguely human, leapt from the wreckage and attacked another mecha, tearing it to shreds.
It had wings, and looked like a cross between a bat, a dog, and a human. Its claws were powerful, easily tearing apart the two mecha.
Worst of all, it was fast, and small.
"Ore no ban da zo." came Toshio's voice from near Laserblade's ankle. The words came up through the translator: "Now it's my turn."
The drunken master was pissed. The leader of the Akihabara base had out and out refused to speak with him, taking him for just a bum on the street. If he wanted help, he'd have to prove himself.
The ex-Tsoo charged forward, fists crackling with electricity. Leaping onto the mecha the demon was attacking, the drunken master showed amazing alacrity and dexterity as he tumbled and swarmed over the hapless mecha, chasing the humanoid shadow.
"Kisama...!" he swore at the demon, taking out his frustration on it. He swung his fists strongly and surely, his eyes narrowed to augment his accuracy a bit.
Bringing down his fists in a double-handed blow, he knew the demon would dodge away quickly, and it did. But this was expected. Toshio suddenly separated his fists and spun, seemingly crazily, knocking the shadow-man upside the head with a lightning-charged fist, right into his upturned knee.
Toshio's aim was to knock it off the mecha and brawl with it directly on the ground. One had to fight speed with speed and strength with strength, after all...
((Okay, hopefully I didn't get TOO lost on this one. ))

(OOC: Chiyoko's role in all this is VERY VERY important. Her psychic power isn't so much 'reading' as it is 'seeing'. She sees through time, space, and across physical and metaphysical planes. So it's not so much she's invading your thoughts as she is looking at it through a telescope. That said, she knows a lot more about everyone than she's letting on, and knows that to ensure people know the extent of her power, she makes a demonstration. She's very complicated, but other than being able to see basically anything, she has no powers other than a couple incantations she memorized for dealing with demons and summoned beings.)
