Void Brawler looked out his window as the sun rose. He had been lying awake for hours, another nightmare keeping him from sleep.
He put on his costume, and walked down to the kitchen. Seeing he was the first there, he looked in the fridge and took some orange juice before putting a bagel in the toaster.

"Ey, pop another one in the toster for me please." Shinji said as he was pouring a glass of OJ.
Void reached out and a tentacle of darkness slid through the hole in another bagel before dropping it in with the other.

"Now was all that necessary? Just messin with ya, thanks."
Asuka walked in the door carrying a full plate of breakfast. It looked expertly cooked by a professional chef.
It should, she ripped it off from a five-star restaurant nearby.
She sat down and began to enjoy her breakfast.
"Hm, good french toast...glad something good comes from that country..." she muttered. Asuka didn't particularly like Western Europe in general.
"Awww, thas dead wrong, you didn't pick me up nothin....thas aight, Immo just be happy wit my bagel and OJ."
Spark had been flicking fire on and off all night. When he heard voices downstairs, he walked down to see everyone eating their breakfast.
When everyone had arrived, The Ruby Blade came into view.
"I hope you have all slept well. We have a full day's job ahead of us, our first task the kidnapping of that woman. Void Brawler and FireSpark shall wait in a warehouse in Galaxy City until it is time to begin the theft."
He opened a laptop and a picture of a burnette woman in her mid 20's appeared. "This is our target. We shall intercept her on her way to work in Steel Canyon. There are plenty of heroes, so keep yourselves concealed. I will not have this mission fail at the easiest stage."
He took out several ear mics and what looked like a patch. Ruby placed his hand inside his mask to put in the ear piece, then lifted it up to his neck to apply the patch.
"These are our communicators. They work by subvocalizing, so we can stay in touch unheard. Now, does everyone understand our first task?"

The Ruby Blade was silent for a moment, before pulling back his glove, revealing a device that looked like a wrist watch.
"Nictus, we are ready."
There was a hiss of static and a click as Blade looked at the others. "An associate of mine is providing quick transport to Steel Canyon. If any of you have objections with teleportation, then it is already too late."
There was a flash of purple and black energies, and they were gone.
There was a rush of air as they reappeared in an abandoned office building.
A man in a purple costume with black flames running up his arms, leg, and cape stared at them with glowing purple eyes from underneath a hood.
"The target is going to be at work in a half hour. Her office is down the block. Do I have any volunteers to retrieve her quickly?" asked Blade.

"Where does she live?" Asuka asked.
"Her apartment building is approximately three blocks from here, across the street from Cooke's Electronics... and Positron and Valkyrie. Unless you are up to the task or kidnapping her so close to those heroes, we must wait to intercept her on her way to work."
Nictus Brawler looked out the window. "You humans and your pathetic plans. Simply teleporting her to us would be of no problem."
"Yes, but the agency that hired us isn't paying you, now is it?" said Blade, visibly irritated.

"I'll go fetch her then," Asuka said as she turned to leave the room.
Blade nodded and handed her the apartment number.

Spark sat down on what looked like a rusty shelf. Taking a quick look at nictus, he figured that somehow he had seen him before.
Then he took another look at Blade. "When do I strike?"
"Your task will be joining Void Brawler in breaking into the M.A.G.I. vault. I have two high security items that need acquiring, but should not be a highly difficult challenge if you are careful. They are not due to update their security for several weeks."
The image of the sword from earlier showed once more on the laptops, but there was something else.
It was a green gem, with a black substance seeming to swirl within it.
"Obtain both of these items," said Blade. "Or your payment will be significantly reduced."

Dana closed her brief case and looked at the clock. "I'm gonna be late again!"
She rushed for the door.

Asuka made it to the apartment building reasonably fast.
She entered the building and saw an elevator
Knowing that most people going to work would prefer an elevator to several flights of stairs, she entered the elevator and waited.
Just to be sure she used some industrial adhesive on the frame of the stairway door, discretely.
Dana walked into the elevator and saw a strangely dressed woman in there.
"Morning."

Asuka took out a small needle from her vest and, in the blink of an eye, pricked Dana in the neck with it.
The needle had a fast acting sleeping poison on it, but Asuka had also pricked her in an acupuncture point that would induce drowsiness.
Quietly, Asuka hit the button for the top floor.
It was HIGHLY unlikely the elevator would stop before then given she was going up and it was an apartment complex.
In any case, she was prepared to deal with anyone who walked in.
Dana's mouth was open in shock as she collapsed, and the elevator doors opened.
Asuka felt an offered teleport...

Asuka accepted...not like she had a choice anyway.
She kept one arm wrapped around the target and one on her sword's hilt on her back just in case
Asuka and Dana reappeared with the others, Nictus boredly sitting back in a chair.
"Excellent," said Ruby. "Now, her coworkers will note her absence. Nictus will teleport the usual ransom note, come alone or she dies, to Ms. Liberty, and we will draw her here. We shall defeat her, erase her memory of who we are with the elixer, and make our escape with the gem in hand."
He turned to Void Brawler and FireSpark. "You may leave for Galaxy City, but do not go for the vault until I give the order. You are to retrieve The Bane of Zeus, and the black and green gem you were showed earlier. Understood?"
Void nodded and faded into the shadows, hurrying to the warehouse they were to wait in in Galaxy City.
