Ya... that was my fault. I said something about welcome back and being envious of you for being able to take such a trip. I realize that was bad of me, very very bad. I'm sorry for that and it won't happen again.
So... no welcome back from me and I don't want to go to Europe. Also, the fact that you had, what I would guess to be one helluva awesome trip is of no concern to me what so ever. I don't care to see the paintings that you will hopefully post soon either... so, um... don't hurry up and post them... NOW! So, um, ya... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I ended up painting several postcards for friends, including Hexess, epicenter of the Dauntless Reverie. Those that didn't get painted cards got regular postcards. I'll have to scan one of the postcards I saved for myself.
Basically, I flew out of Los Angeles on July 24th and arrived July 25th in the afternoon in Amsterdam. It was disturbingly warm there. Within the past two and a half decades of traveling there, the last ten years have seen a striking increase in hot summers and unusual winters. Thanks global warming!
So I was given a day to recoup and get over jetlag before I hopped a train, then a plane to Liverpool to visit fellow Dauntless Reverie member: The Elysienne!
Fantastic host in a fantastic town. Ely took me on a tour of his side of the world, showing me his parks, local war memorials, and such. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful place to live. The sea so close, lots of green. Yeah, I could see myself living there for a spell, if only to do watercolor paintings in new places every day for a year. There's enough to paint and see...
First night was spent drinking at a local dive. There had been no way to reach 'mommagoat' in Holland, so we put it off til the next day. That was, until the British Police come knocking on Ely's door the next day. Now, the British police are nice folks, and these two looked very similar to Laurel and Hardy. So I will refer to them as such from now on.
Officer Laurel: Are you...Ely?
Ely: Uh... I... yes.
Officer Hardy: Is there a California Dutch girl by the name of Say staying with you??
Ely breaks into laughter and calls out to me in the kitchen: Say! Come tell the police I didn't strangle you in your sleep!
The officers wait and I skitter down the stairs with the cell phone in hand. We'd been trying EVERY combination to get through to my aunt and uncle's place, where my mother was staying.
Upon seeing me, the officers broke into laughter. Paranoid Mom Syndrome. They'd obviously had this happen before. Great guys, they helped me find out that I was simply dialing the incorrect country code, and after things were sorted out with family, they bid me adieu.

But about the art... loved the illustrations and the little story layout. Excelent stuff!
