New Sketchdump! Guess the old one got deleted :/
So I'm sittin here, and thinkin, if anyone would like a lil freebie sketch, that if they were to, I dunno, reply to this message, I'd be cool with that.
Only the first person though... to keep you on your toes, sorta like how Shia does. You must reply with reference though, I'm not a psychic.

Niska: Are you Familiar with the works of Shan Yu?
Like I do like I do! You also should make them recite some Haiku's, Say. I've always thought that to be rather cool. Themed ones!

A paint test to see if I'll be using a different kind of paper for other watercolor commissions and to test some new colors before using them on actual commissioned pieces.
Consensus: YES.
The difference? I normally use cold press, which has some grain/tooth for watercolor, but I'm starting to enjoy hot press quite a bit.
Ah, so you've finally come over to the dark... er, hot side Niiiice work, love the look... nice and clean.
Personally, i don't see how you managed to cope on cold pressed for so long
The goat .. she is patient
Ah Graver... so this is your SECRET.
I used cold press because that's what I was taught on primarily, and what is best for plein air pieces. I can see how Hot Press COULD be used for plein air, but it'd dry up way too fast, and not hold up well to lots of scumbling.
And yeah, I guess I am patient :3 Sometimes >_>

Also this talk of Cold and Hot press has illuminated me, I really must pick up some different kinds of watercolor paper now and experiment on them both.
Heh, ya, 140 lbs hot pressed doesn't hold up to heavy water, and rougher treatment very well (I destroy that stuff) but the 300lbs verity seems to be able to take most anything you can throw at it in any style (though it's not quite as smooth as 140 lbs... kind of like a mid way point between cold and hot pressed surface wise).
Shia, yes, go EXPERIMENT! When working with pain as translucent as watercolor, what surface to work on is the most important decision you can make
And Say, you only have half my secret... you forgot about Baby Fat! It binds, it coats, it works as a great vehicle... Baby fat, from the makers of head ina bag, Baby Fat, for all your Baby Fat needs!
