Whitmoore Apts.: Origins, Themesongs, Backstories
Character Name: The Jabberwok (Mason Fenrick)
Origin Story: Can be found in my sig under Crey Hero Files.
Theme Song(s): I can't remember exactly which ones I gave her before, but here's what I think they were. The Passenger, by Iggy Pop. Counting Bodies Like Sheep, by Perfect Circle.
Why those songs? The Passenger mainly because I like it, but also because it sort of matches Mason's demeanor. Pretty much just going along with whatever happens and not worrying too much about the past or future. Counting Bodies, well that's just a nice action song for the fight scenes. There were others I had, but I decided to narrow it to two for now.
Backstory Posts: Nothing has really been revealed in the posts that can't be found in the Crey profile. There will be a change in her soon, however, that technically started with this post . It's tough since it ties into an entire story arc, but skipping forward to here , probably would suffice.
**I have these songs if any wants
Character Name: HCA 01
Origin Story:
Theme Songs: Anna ni issho datta no ni ["We were so close together"]
Why those songs? This song symbolizes his connection to his loved ones. Through out the years many things have kept him from showing his love to them. Secrets, politics, and recently death all mock him. But deep down he knows that his love will be requited in his own death.
---------------
Character Name: Mary Forlorn
Origin Story:
Theme Songs: Himitsu ["Secret"]
Why those songs? It fits her perfectly. The way she failed to save Athena stains everything she does. It haunts her to not tell Nathan what happened. But as afraid as she was that he would kill her, she is now more afraid that he will forgive her.
Character Name: Straight Jacket (Jack Stryker)
Origin Story:
Crey Profile
Theme Song(s):
Cave Muse
Escape Muse
St Anger Metallica
Frantic Metalica
Breaking the Habit Linkin Park
My way Sex Pistols
Why those songs?
Cave Its a song about someone who just wants to be left alone and wants the world to mind its own business. This is very much how Jack feels.
Escape This song is about how Jack feels about himself and the way he is treating Simone. He could almost be singing it to himself.
St Anger This song reflects the bad moods Jack can get into sometimes.
Frantic This is about wondering if his life would be different if he started again.
Breaking the Habit Jack gave up drugs a while ago.
My Way Just because Jack likes it and the Sex Pistols is one of his favorite bands.

((I'll write for Alex later. I used this site to find the lyrics to my songs: Lyric Lovers ))
Character Name: the Dark Harrier
Origin Story:
Theme Song(s): Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Hero - Kroeger/Scott
Warriors of the World - Manowar
Why those songs?
Bohemian Rhapsody: a long, winding tale of a doomed boy, Eric had seen himself as this figure during his youth. His mutation manifesting in High School caused him to label himself as an outsider, and led him to criminal associations. Once his gang were murdered by their employers, and Eric turned the tables and killed the assassins, he faced a potential death sentance either from the police if he'd been caught, or the mob looking for payback. The more triumphant final movement of the song marks his reversal of fortune, coming to Paragon and taking the high road, forsaking his past and becoming a hero. Though the last refrain is still nihilistic, he knows he will continue onward, and die with his mask on.
Hero: as much a nod to modern culture, this Kroeger song is a good slow, gravelly-voiced, grinding-rock song for Eric as the Harrier. He sees the evil loose in society, and grimly dons his cape each day, and heads out, determined to right wrongs and stomp some serious [censored] in the name of Justice.
Warriors of the World: this is Eric's theme for a team. He relishes joinng forces with other heroes, becoming brothers and sisters in the fight for Right. Taking widely diverse talents and melding them into a functioning war-band against evil elates Eric, and this song of a warrior's brotherhood echoes in him.
Backstory Posts: His origin details are viewable in the "Marvel Handbook entry" thread, and subsequent adventures exist all through the Whitmoore story.
I have set up a gmail account specifically for us to house copies of our theme songs. To use the share, pick up a copy of GMail drive (just Google it) and then PM me for the login & password.

lol one of my songs is too big but here are the translation links:
Anna ni issho datta no ni
Himitsu
Character Name: Max Ortis A.K.A Black Shadow
Themesongs: Ayumi Hamasaki - End Of The World
Why Those Songs:
This is song portrays Max's depression. How he feels about the world. It also mentions someone that understands and that someone for Max was his first love that had suddenly vanished.
When Max was born and growing older, he was always into the dark. He learned he had a gift and would practice those powers everday. He learned he can use the Shadows to create a beam. One day his parents had walked in on him practicing and they thought he was insane. They dis owned him and through him in a an insane asylum. When He got out he met the most gorgeous girl to him. They fell into a deep love and at this point he was reaching 21 and was about to ask her to marry him.
On the day that he would ask her, she ended up vanishing. Ever since that he fell more into the shadows that he adored so much. And he also recieved a bad dream almost every night about a Figure that seemed like it was from Hell. The figure tells him "Its your destiny." Max is not sure if it has something to do with his love or if it has something to do with his death.
Now he comes to Paragon City to find this figure. The dreams have become even more stronger since he moved here. Not to mention that the figure said "You Destiny Is In Paragon!" Now he searches for his destiny. And will he find his lost lover......
Say, I was wondering if a more knowledgeable member could take a screenie of the in-game Whitmoore so we could all identify it? I know it's near the tram in Steel, but I mean, it could be any building, heheh. Thanks!
I'll get some pictures posted over the weekend.

A bit of an update for Marjorie: I've thought about how several elements of her backstory each seem to have a song related to them, and so, I've summed things up from Marjorie's point of view -- along with explanations as to why the songs were chosen. I'm going to try and get these ripped and posted to the Whitmoore GMail drive soon.
Login details for the Whitmoore GMail account are available to *anyone* on request.
-----
Rose (Marjorie) has quite a few depending on what part of her story you're reading.
At the beginning, when she gets thrown out of her hometown, Queen's Who Wants To Live Forever and The Show Must Go On are probably the most appropriate for her -- her feelings of rejection and perseverance despite that rejection.
At one point in her story, she turns herself into a mental health clinic to keep from hurting herself. The song Being Alive from the musical Company seems to fit her best at this point -- alone, scared, desperately needing someone to prove to her that she's human.
When the heroine Steele Magnolia comes to the hospital to get her out, the song Irish Tune from County Derry is appropriate - soft, tender, sweet, and a little melancholy. This is a wordless song - when it's sung, it's done by a choir simply on either "mm" or "ah." If you've never heard it before, it will sound suspiciously like the Irish ballad Danny Boy -- because the source music is the same. The lyrics to Danny Boy were added to the ancient song in the 1930s.
Marjorie is eventually released with Steele's help, and returns home to the Whitmoore Apartments building. She goes and assists with friends on a mission to save one of the other tenants in Eden. Upon arriving home, a party is held in honor of a fallen hero. At that party, she meets someone who is really quite special to her (Michael Helsinger, AKA 2020 Vision), and the two heroes go off to Platinum Lake to talk - and she begins to fall in love. The song If I Were a Bell from Guys and Dolls seems to fit best here - Marjorie is truly head-over-heels in love for Michael, and if ever there's a song about falling hard for someone, this is it.
After the "lakeside chat,", she learns of a plot to kidnap and corrupt another friend, Simone St. Croix, AKA Simon-Says. Simone is a mentat who Marjorie rescued at one point by daring to dive inside Simone's mind and communicating with her - a potentially very hazardous action for her, and Marjorie's empathic link is strong with her. Marjorie's protective instinct, previously somewhat repressed, begins to unlock itself, by way of her desire to rescue her friend and keep her newfound love from getting hurt, and Marjorie's full power begins to surface during the fight - at this point, the Tornado Song from the musical The Wiz is appropriate - Marjorie's power begins to fully mature and she begins to master her abilities, becoming a "tornado of power" that defends her friends at any cost.
Although Marjorie is unable to save Simone (Simone actually saves herself) the love between Marjorie and Michael begins to blossom - as Marjorie learns of Michael's "past" with the Council. Despite this, Marjorie reaffirms her love for him, and so, Queen's Someone To Love seems to fit best here - Marjorie has found in Michael a true love, and she hopes he feels the same way.
And this brings us to where we are currently, at least for Marjorie.
Marjorie has developed into an exceptionally complex character -- and so, one song doesn't really fit her cleanly anymore.
It's amazing how she's developed, storywise, since that day last November when I rolled her up as a little level 1 and ran her through Outbreak. I remember buying the game expecting to be thoroughly unimpressed -- because I had played EverQuest to level 24 with my cleric and had become entirely disillusioned with the game. I'm glad I did it.
Rose has grown and matured in more ways than I ever thought possible, and it's that incredible interaction that she's had that keeps me coming back.
Character Name: Sol-Ar
Origin Story: Seeing how some of my fellow Whitmoore neighbors are in on this, I figured I would join in on the fun as well!
Sol-Ar
Real Name: David Clemmons
Occupation: Professor of Criminal Psychology at Paragon City University
AT: Invul/Super Strength Tank
Background: David Clemmons was the stereotypical nerd throughout his school years. He was skinny, unathletic, and always had his nose in a book. His studious habits assisted him in completing a Master's Degree in Abnormal Psych, specializing in the Criminal Mindset. A native of Paragon City, David naturally applied for a job at the University and was pleasantly surprised when they hired him. He has worked his way up to full professorship, teaching mostly criminal justice courses and abnormal psych classes focusing on the criminal mind.
During the Rikti War, David did what most other powerless citizens of the city did: He tried to stay out of the heroes' ways as they fought the threat. He longed to help out, but he was sure that his limited field of knowledge and lack of physical ability would be of no use to anyone besides his students. But, being a civic minded individual, he still volunteered his time to assisting in charity functions and supporting the local heroes of the city whenever he could. His particular 'politics' towards metas didn't make him popular with his boss, the Dean of the criminology department who made no secret about resenting metas and 'heroes', but David didn't care. He felt they did important and selfless work, and should be applauded for their efforts, not resented for their abilities.
The Dean's stiff nosed attitudes towards David changed from indifference to almost blatant hostility when the most important even in David's life occurred: He became a hero himself. David's absentmindedness actually led to the events that resulted in him living out a childhood dream:
He had been walking home from teaching late one May evening, enjoying the sunshine caressing his face as he went through the familiar neighborhoods. When he passed through one old back lot that he had traversed hundreds of times before, he noticed the sunlight glint off something in the ground across the way. Curious, David approached the object, noticing a piece of metal stuck in the dirt at his feet. Kneeling down, David had cleared off the dust as best he could, and noticed strange markings on the object. The more he rubbed, the more he uncovered, until it became apparent that the object in questions was some sort of missile left over from the clashes during the Rikti War. Excitement coursed through David, and he let his fingers reach under the missile, attempting to pry it up from the dirt that held it...and that is when his life changed forever.
What David had no way of knowing was that the weapon in question was an experimental Rikti Radiation Bomb. It was designed to destroy any organic matter its light touched upon detonation, but it never had a chance to reach its intended target. While streaking across the sky, it had been knocked off course by one of Paragon City's heroes, her radiation beam striking the bomb and scrambling its internal machinery and programming. The bomb had crashed 'harmlessly' into the old lot David had discovered it in, buried and waiting for someone to find it...and David had activated it by touching it.
A flash of light had soundlessly exploded out of the bomb blinding David and lighting up the sky. The silent explosion was bright enough to temporarily over power the sun, and draw the attention of the nearby residents. When they arrived, they found David unconscious and the object he had been touching a melted slag stuck in the ground.
They had immediately called for medical aid, and David was rushed to the hospital. Doctors were baffled by some of the readings they were getting off of his body, they were unable to make heads or tails of his vital signs. His body seemed to be expending tremendous amounts of energy, but his heart rate remained steady throughout the entire process. They also noticed that after the first few hours, David seemed...taller, and slightly more filled out.
They couldn't find any way to halt the progress of whatever was happening to him, or to wake him up. David remained unconscious for two whole days while his skeletal and muscular system underwent radical alterations. When he finally woke up, he was more shocked than anyone else to discover the differences in him:
He now stood slightly over seven feet tall, and weighed over 400 lbs of solid muscle! He was grateful that the process had left him with the normal proportions of a man, so he simply looked like someone who had spent their entire life in a gym...lifting freight trains for exercise.
Further tests proved that even stranger changes had taken place on a basic cellular level within David's body. The Rikti weapon had, instead of emitting light and destroying his organic matter, reprogrammed his DNA and cell structure to absorb light and other energy wavelengths to turn them into energy for his body to use. Some benefits of this change were immediately apparent: David now found himself to be super strong and almost entirely impervious to pain or injury.
Although concerned with the changes to himself, he knew he had to use these new found abilities to aid his fellow citizen. Donning a costume, David decided on the hero name of Sol-Ar, dedicated to the fact he could absorb solar radiation to power himself, and set out to help Paragon City. Over the course of his career, David's abilities have strengthened and several new powers have cropped up. It seems that with more and more energy being absorbed into his being, his body channels that excess energy to new and varied abilities.
He still teaches over at Paragon City University, but has now become the pet project of his boss, the Dean, who is looking for any excuse to fire him. As his exploits have become better know however, his class attendance has exploded, making him one of the more popular professors on campus. As an added bonus, he can now include personal examples of the criminal mind at work for his students based upon the cases he has handled.
In recent times David has moved into The Whitmoore Apartment Complex, to be closer to other heroes and find some security in his 'home'. He feels the work he does at the University with young people is as important if not more so than what he does in his tights, and continues to teach enthusiastically. He has also become romantically involved with another Whitmoore resident, his neighbor Helen who is also known as the hero Steel Magnolia.
As a hero already in his forties of Security Levels, David has access to a massive amount of money and acclaim. He has also managed to reach the cap on all his resistances and defenses, making him the embodiment of the word 'Tank'.
Height: 7'2"
Weight: 425 lbs of muscle
Hair: Short, black, combed to one side
Eyes: Brown (Wears glasses when in civilian clothes, although he doesn't need them anymore. Had them switched to plate glass, no longer a prescription)
Costume: Upper body is blue tights with white stripes going down the insides of his arms and along his rib cage to his belt. His chest sports a red starburst symbol outlined in yellow. His belt is a plain white metal belt with a yellow buckle. His lower body has white briefs over blue tights that fit into white tight boots. The entire uniform is completed with a red ankle length cape that is secured in front of his chest with a golden brooch.
Personality: David is a realist, knowing he can't save everyone all the time. That being said, he has still dedicated himself to assisting anyone who needs his help in the city. One of the last living examples of chivalry, David acts the proper gentleman most of the time. The only time his behavior changes is when he sees a crime committed against an innocent, and he can do nothing to prevent it. Then an internal rage consumes him, making him see red and lash out at the villain who is committing the crime.
David has also realized that he is more resistant to damage than many of his fellow heroes, and selflessly volunteers to go in first in any combat situation. He would rather see himself injured than watch as a team mate or fellow hero takes a blow he himself could have accepted.

Theme Song: Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler
Why That Song?: David has long been a hero in his own soul, but felt he had nothing to offer to the world outside of his influence on young minds. Once the accident occurred that gave him his powers, he dedicated himself to righting wrongs, defending those who could not defend themselves, and standing for Truth, Justice, and Hope in Paragon City. He knows things are bad out there, but he won't stop fighting until he can make his contributions to making things right again!
Cliffnotes of Doc Mayhem:
Theme Song: "Hell in a Bucket" by the Grateful Dead
Why?
Well, Doc's a holdover from the 60's, still wears his hair long and in a ponytail, and despite the increasing connection to Darkforce, he's a really mellow and pragmatic guy. The song evokes his views of the world, things are going downhill fast, but that doesn't mean one should just give up.
Origin: Doc is a mutant, able to tap into Darkforce to produce minor effects (defensive, mostly). This talent was discovered in his late teens, and was initially dismissed as an LSD dream... but when the 'trip' faded and the powers did not, at that point he realized that he was 'more than normal'. However, he did little to develop it, and has not had many issues as far as controlling it over the years. His main talent is purely natural, and comes from a lifetime of practicing Kendo, first as a student, then as a sensei himself. He was born in 1949, in Massachusetts, but spent most of his life elsewhere. First it was Berkeley and the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, then overseas in the Peace Corps, and then a decade or so of traveling around Asia. He returned to Paragon purely as a civilian in the 80's, set up a dojo, and settled into what was a fairly stable life - offering kendo classes for people, mostly normals, but the odd superhero or two.
When he discovered that his latent Darkforce talents were actually growing stronger as he grew older, he realized that his 'death' will most likely be when he becomes a pure Darkforce being, but he figures that time is still a ways off. For his 'retirement', he leased the dojo to a group of martial arts/ninjitsu aficionados, not realizing that they were part of the Tsoo... and when his tenants got raided, he discovered his home and his livelihood are now "states evidence" and has had to fall back on subsidized housing until the courts free everything back up (which could be weeks, months, or years.)
He has income both from savings and investments he's accumulated, and his City stipend, but is officially 'out of doors'.
He's a relatively short man (5'5", normal, but smaller than many superheroes), with grey hair bound into a ponytail and a trimmed grey beard. He wears a gi bordered in sapphire blue, and carries a katana within a lacquered cherry wood scabbard. The sword is named Blade of Spring Dawn, and was a gift from his old sensei when he left Asia. He wears rectangular blue sunglasses, which hide the only overt mutated feature he has - his eyes glow blue-purple, very much like the 'light' given off by a black light. The purple-dark glow intensifies when he is upset or angry, or his Darkforce powers are in use, but they can be slightly upsetting even when muted.
He is soft spoken, somewhat of a pacifist except when Spring Dawn is out of her scabbard, a philosopher, and an avid music fan. especially 'progressive rock' or fusion jazz.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Thanks to Yydr for reminding me to do this.
Name: Blood Wolffe
Archetype: Science Energy/Fire/Fire Blaster
Age: 30
Origin Story: You Cant Make Some Heroes
Theme song: Supernova Goes Pop, Powerman 5000
Why: It just seems to fit him. I dont really have a theme song for him.
Backstory posts: Old open RP, and The New Empire (About the size of a small novel, you have been warned, I put the link at the first page with him in it.)
Personality: Very loyal to his friends and willing to make any sacrifice to protect his "Pack". Also very cruel to his enemies. Has problems with heroes that think killing is wrong. He has the mind of an animal so those morals dont apply. He also has the intelligence of a human so he can see their side too if he wants too. When he gets emotional or angry his human side takes over and he is less predictable. When his wolf side is in control he is keen and calm. Crey occasionally tries to capture him, usually with little success.
Physical appearence: Roughly 6'2 and very physically fit (Duh, he is a hero). Sharp, canine teeth and blue yet wolf-like eyes. He sometimes has a specific power when looking into his eyes, but in present time it is dormant. Other than that appears completely human. Wild hair and old shave. See sig link for further details.
In game appearence
Character Name: Zenitheon
Origin Story: Discovery
Theme Song: Walking through the empty age by Yoko Ishida/Hajime Mizoguchi
Why that song? I haven't seen the show this was written for, so the quiet guitar, simple piano, and slow lyrics formed the impressions that encompass the small elf. The first four lines are more my view on what happens as we write the Whitmoore Apartments (Open RP) thread. The following verses so beautifully tell of the healer's past... and her fate.
~~~
(Bonus)
Theme Song for the writer: fiction by Emily Bindiger/Yuki Kajiura
Why that song? What can I say? It perfectly fits this daydreamer.
.
Hero Name: Cthula
Civilian Name: Julia K Winters
Themesong: "Thats Just about Right" - Blackhawk
Reason for Themesong: I know its a country song, but I think its lyrics and the story of it fit well with kind of how Cthula has decided to look at her life and at the progression she had as a child from angst ridden mutation of horrific appearance to physicaly self reveling but personaly shy heroine harboring dark nasty little impulses to cause violence and mayhem.
Backstory: #3775695 its told in the first person but it works for me.
Global chat is still currently Cthula feel free to contact me if you want.
Hero Name: Suicide-Run
Real Name: Unknown (John Doe)
Background: Suicide-Run: Ghosts
Themesong: Faint, Linkin Park (Perfect for someone with memory loss, fighting to be something neither he nor anyone else knows, and trying to retain his sanity while not being lost in the crowd)
Character name: Coldfire Kaiser
Origin story: The link in my sig takes you to Coldfires Crey database report. Read the "warning: restricted files: do not enter" for the full lawout of his past.
Themesong(s): Duality by Slipknot, Happy? by Mudvayne, Scars by Papa Roach, Getting away with murder by Papa Roach, Enter Sandman by Metallica, Before I Forget by Slipknot
Why these songs: Duality just marks the point where Cold gets his power building up. When the song starts getting up, thats when the killing starts. Happy? is kind of the song that would play when Coldfire is about to kill Countess Crey. She ruined his live and the song asks the question, are you happy now? Scars is more of the song for Coldfire's personnal life. Since anyone who gets close to Coldfire dies, he tries to keep them away. Getting away with murder is the perfect song to some up Coldfire. He kills his enemies (yes, I know we 'ARREST' them, but this is my thing) and no one is brave enough to try and take him in for it, since he would probly just kill them too. Enter Sandman is like Cold's life at home. He cannot sleep, not even for a minute because it would give Crey to much of a chance to kill him. Before I forget is the theme to Coldfire's killing when he is doing a Crey mission. He kills Crey operitives to remind him of Countess Crey's wrongdoings against him.
Thats about it. If you want to know about my past just look at my link in my sig. Sorry about all the songs, but I could have added 16 more you know .
Hero Name: Isomorph
Real Name: Jaclyn Muse
Orgin Story: She's a muntant with the ability to change her appearance as long as it's humaniod and female. She was taken by Malta because of these skills and has done somethings she'd rather not talk about. She reports directly to a man called the Armless General and appearantly has a reason for being at the Whitmoore.
---------------------------
Hero Name: Alexandrite
Real Name: Alexandra
Orgins: She was a Hero six years ago across the puddle in Europe. She disappered for six years and has recently resurfaced. He personality has greatly changed, she use to be an outspoken, energetic girl. Now she's shy and keeps to herself. Whatever happened to her changed her greatly.
Heroname: SoundTrak
Realname: Adam Swan
Theme Songs: Metropolis (Tomoyasu Hotei)
Why that song: The thickness of the sound represents how SoundTrak hears others' voices in his head, along with the different emotions they carry with them. (though the song has a bit more structure to a beat than natural voices would)
Backstory/Origin: all history for this character was launched during the Hotel Geneva rave arc led by American Valor. His entrance is noted here on this page.
no other backstories mentioned elsewhere.
----
Heroname: Hyperbolt
Realname: Sky Brandon
Theme Song: Mute City theme from F-Zero
Why that song: Whenever I hear this song, I always thing of racing, and I always think of racing when I play the character represented by Hyperbolt.
Origin/Backstory: same as above.
Summer Heat
Name: Laine Jordon
Theme songs: Hadn't given it a lot of thought, but....
"Do You Hear the People Sing?" from 'Les Miserables' - Laine sees herself as the embodiment of people's desire to stand up for themselves.
"No Rain" by Blind Melon - Sort of embodies her disconnection from others.
Origin/Backstory: Laine grew up in a good sized (small by costal standards) midwest town. She is a mutant and her powers didn't truly manifest until college when she was attacked by some unruly frat boys on her way through the university parking lot. The two weeks of Tae-kwan-do she took in middle school coming back with exceeding clarity. She found that after practicing something once or twice the action became reflex to her. Her diminutive height (3'10") is due to the fact that her cells, instead of turning outward and causing her to grow normally, turned inward and became more resiliant and able to recover from trauma faster. She also posesses the ability to, with a little concentration, absorb nutrients from organic matter by touch. Her body requires more nutrients than what her size would suggest, but this is offset by her incredibly efficient digestion. She can also hover which helps greatly in day-to-day activities - imagine being shoulder height to the stove, unable to use the freezer without a stepstool, or having to 'hop' to sit on the toilet. She hates being reminded of her height and is quite sensitive about it. However, subconciously her size makes her feel powerful, in the sense that others very often underestimate her.
Scrappers: Because no plan survives first contact with the enemy intact.
Heroine: Sweet Seduction
Origin: magical fusion of a human girl with an ancient Siren (Greek mythological creature)
Themesongs: because of Seductions's powers (all based on her voice) she loves to sing, yet has to maintain iron control over her powers when doing so. Otherwise subharmonics creep in to influence the minds of those that hear. She is a big fan of Diana Krall, and Bjork (which her voice is similar to), but she also has a passion for instrumental music. She LOVES music; the ways in which music has advanced since her time never cease to amaze her.
Examples of what Seduction sounds like:
Bjork - Pagan Poetry
Art of Noise - Opus 4
Dzihan and Kamien - Drophere
Soulstice - Colours
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Heroine Name: Darque Kitten
Real Name: Unknown.
Theme Song: Poe, "Hey Pretty" I don't know why, she just has that sort of mellow groove in my mind.
Origin: Human researcher "cursed" by Bast, or at least an enchanted statue of said deity. Somewhere deep beneath all the kittiness is this poor woman trying to remember who she is.
(( All posts in this thread should be considered OOC ))
The themesong part of this was done way back in the Whitmoore Apartments thread and was originally spearheaded by Steele Magnolia (yay for Steele!!) -- and I know that the information is back there SOMEWHERE. I figured that rather than force people to sift through the nearly 5,000 posts to find those selected ones where we mention our character's origins, theme songs, and backstories, why not collect all the information and post it in one easy-to sift-through thread?
Also, many thanks to Yydr_ for starting the thread to collect the IC vitals on the individual players in the Whitmoore so that we know their basic details in-thread!
Yes, I know, many of us put links to our origin stories in our sigs -- as I do -- but many of us post them and let our sigs talk about other things, like alts or our current views on gameplay.
Anywho, here's the format, using the character I play most, Rose Cross:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Character Name: Rose Cross
Origin Story: The Rose Blooms
Theme Song(s): The Show Must Go On and Who Wants To Live Forever by Queen
Why those songs? The Show Must Go On I think represents Rose just after she's banished from her home town, at the very beginning of her career -- beaten, battered, and broken on the inside, but having to maintain that façade of "everything's going to be OK" when the real outcome is anything but clear. Who Wants to Live Forever represents her in the now -- questioning her own life, wondering if it's worth it to continue, feeling alone, and wondering if her life just hasn't been some sick joke all the time.

The "Why those songs" section is just intended to give us a glimpse into what you think that song means for that particular character. And by the way, "because I like that song" is a perfectly good answer, too.
I'm also going to try and figure out some way for us to collect and listen to each others' themesongs -- even if what I have to do is set up a gmail share to do it with.
I'd also like to encourage past participants of the Whitmoore to post their data here as well.
Oh, and in case you didn't know, here's how to make a link referencing a specific post:
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>http://=http://boards.cityofheroes.c...>]Link text</pre><hr />
Just cut and paste that code into your post and change <postnumber> to the number assigned to your post, and change "link text" to something appropriate. The <postnumber> is that number just underneath the subject line in your post and is next to the date and time of your post. It's in the same green color as links are, but it's not clickable. Note that when you click links like this, you'll go to the page where this post lies -- so the 10-post-per-page display method works best to quickly find the post you're wanting to see. You could also click the link, hit Ctrl-F on your keyboard, type the post number in to the search box, and hit find once you've clicked the link if you don't want to change your display options (I browse at 50 posts per page, so I do this).
