A Guide to the Paladin
I've seen oscilloscopes zap towers in other non-Paladin spawn locations, too. I think it's just part of their normal animation, like sprockets carrying beams, etc.
I'm looking forward to a chance at getting the Knight Errant badge, as well. I'll check on the spawn-points if I'm in KR, but I don't know if I'm going to camp.
While street-sweeping early Saturday morning, I ran across Paladin being constructed, but before I could even type /b he was complete, and running off to the NE corner of the Gish.

A group of us took him down in about 10 minutes, but it was mostly Captain Retro (the guy holding Paladin's attention in both pics), that did it.

I've now shown up three times just as Paladin was being FINISHED, leaving me unable to get the badge. Really, it's just horrible luck on my part, I guess, I know some people who haven't even SEEN Paladin, let alone stumbled across him by accident three times...one of these days I'll get that badge.
I've been hunting Paladin, on Protector, since he was introduced. The closest I've come is chancing across an already completed Paladin lumbering across KR.
Bah.
I am new so hadn't heard about the paladin. One day my Lvl 5 guy was running around KR and saw it. He jumped 15 ft. high in fright at seeing a Giant Monster in front of him. I squawked at my SG and they just /chuckled at me.
This guide is awesome. I really would love to get a Knight Errant badge. I am going to have to arrange that.

So losts of times, especially in the Southern most spawn location, you can see one group of Clocks spawn but you wait and wait but it seems like it's just the one group that's gonna spawn there. Why is that?

Why what? They randomly spawn. Not always one group not always multiple groups.

The Paladin construction is completely random. Doesn't matter what is there to start with. Heroes wandering through the construction sites will not impact its appearance, etc. You can just be standing there and it can plop down right on top of you. Much like a mob of Trolls in the Hollows. Also, clockwork zapping the high-tension towers in Aqueduct doesn't mean anything, either. It's just a clever and unique spawning of enemies. Much like Skulls or Hellions breaking into a car/building (or even tree or a park bench, I've seen).
Paladin is about two things.
Patience and good networking. If you want Paladin, be ready to wait for him. You might get lucky, but in general, you'll be camping. For networking, well, that's what the monster channels are all about. If you DO spot him, advertise!

If anyone is still having problems finding the spawn points, vidiotmaps.com has updated their maps with spawn points for Paladin and Kraken. The other monsters aren't on their yet, but may be added in thr future.
Personally, I believe Paladin is a rumor started by the devs. At least on Justice.
If it wasn't for the ghost ship passing me by a couple days ago in Talos, that would have been a rumor too.

Monsters seem to come and go like that.
I've been witness to 2 Paladin constructs and about 2-3 "live" Paladins over my time on Justice.

Is it bad if a paladin is built? Wouldn't you just get better exp?

Much better exp if he's built. He scales to level like any monster, which requires a combined effort to stop. I'm a level 50 and got 4500 reduced debt.
However,
You receive NO BADGE if Paladin spawns. The idea is to kill all the little clocks sent to defend the worksite. Eventually they stop coming, you kill the construction site, and you get the badge.
This may be my imagination, but I think the number of times the purple-glowy clockwork spawn may have something to do with how often Paladin spawns. I believe this because he spawned twice today before I found a construction site suddenly built in the SW corner of KR. My advice, for anyone who would test this theory, would be to run at SS from one potential site to the next, waiting only long enough to see the lil' guys pop out of the ground, then move on to the next one.
Killing them does nothing. I think it only wastes time. Eventually the random number/spawn generator throws boxcars and whammo, there is the construction site. It's just a matter of causing enough spawns.
I think.

Sorry, but no. The Monster Construction can/will/and has appeared out of thin air, regardless of what is/was there. There can be 3 level 15 princes, or a lone cog. The presence of heroes has no impact, either. Junkpiles mean nothing, too. Oscillators zapping the towers east of the police station means nothing, also. Just a very very clever spawn instance of Clockwork.
Monster Construction appearance is completely random, and there is no ramp-up to it.
But ramp-up to monster appearances WOULD be great.

Great Post. I have been camping out a while (up to 7 hours) with a couple of others and have yet to see the Paladin. I was curious though about one thing. Who gets the badge if multiple teams/groups participate in the event? Just the team doing the most damage or eveyone in the area or anyone who did some damage to the MC?
And also how long does it take for the MC to go to 100% if no one is damaging it?
Thanks again for the post. 5 stars

Just to be clear, what do you mean by ramp-up? An increase in frequency or response to heroes nearby?
I've just started playing again so I haven't seen any monsters. I guess it's kind of neat that they're almost like UFO sightings in rarity but something this cool should occur more often so more people can enjoy it I would think.
But then if they did Paragon City could end up more like Townsville or Tokyo with Giant Monster Attacks (but I wouldn't mind that either ).
What I mean is for instance, NPCs wandering around KR would start saying things like "The Clockwork have been more voracious in their appetite for scrap metal." Maybe have clockwork all over KR start running ala ambush to one of the spawn sites.
This might be too much of a clue, but considering how often Paladin is sighted after construction, maybe heroes need a few more clues.
I'd also love to see something in the zone or at least that district, change when a giant monster appears. Using the Monster Construction as an example, maybe have the road blocks appear, enemies/citizens in the very nearby area (200 feet?) running away. It just struck me as odd one time when I was involved in a Monster Construction battle one time to see NPCs wandering past this immense battle and not even noticing. Then seeing the tram breeze past as if life is just normal. Finally, I noticed a group of Skulls across the street just standing around. All these little things just struck me as odd. I know even if I were a level 6 Skull and I saw that many Clockwork building something 20 feet tall, I'd hightail it outta there.
Same with the other zone events. Something in them to clue what's going on. Maybe with the (unconfirmed) upcoming Steel Canyon event we can see fire trucks on the streets, or police cars in Skyway, or maybe even a police boat in IP for Lusca.

THANK YOU
Having finally found the Paladin under construction last night on Protector server, I can answer at least one of my own questions. It appears that everyone/every team that participated in the defeat of the MC got the badge. There were about 20 of us beating on the MC or the Clocks running around and I didn't see anyone say they didn't get the badge.
As far as how long the MC is under construction before the Paladin is done, I don't know specifically, but it appeared that the MC was gaining about 600 HP a minute. But I have to admit to being pretty excited and not keeping track of the details, this was my first Monster after all.
Being the first one to find the MC was special and thanks to all the heroes who reponded and helped.

Heh, I got Knight Errant on two characters within 24 hours yesterday and the day before, it was cool.
Anyway, here is what the construction will look like should you ACTUALLY see it (not like those silly pics of it alone earlier in the thread ) and here is what the description is for the construction.
I'm not sure if someone may have posted those earlier in the thread since I read it last, but I really don't feel like reading all that, so...
On Guardian, I practically got run over by Paladin last night. Sadly he was already built, but with the help of 5 other players, we took him down. It was a fun sight to see, but next time I hope we can catch those Clocks in the act.
Words of advice - if you see Paladin, take out some of his small-level Clock army first. He won't go far, and you'll be safer when not being barraged by a couple dozen end draining bolts.
Just a note --
Watched the cogs zap a tower for about 30 minutes when someone showed up and destroyed them. Decided to check the other sites for the heck of it and the construction had started at one of those other sites.
Got the badge. =)
