"Gjallar"
Gjallar is actually a name from Norse mythology. When it came time for Ragnarok, the final battle before the end of the world, the god Heimdall would blow his horn to gather all the armies of the worlds together. That horn is called Gjallar.
Gjallar is the latest in a line of black-skinned German mutants who call themselves the Schattenfeuer ("Shadowfire"), and who have made a career out of defending the smaller villages and hamlets of that country from monsters and criminals. His father named him after the horn, in the hopes that he would grow up to be big and strong, able to defend the village of Kelheim as he had. Unfortunately, Gjallar was born an Empathy Defender, so the name is kind of a joke now---I purposefully chose a name that was way too big for the poor kid attached to it.
