  1. "Gjallar"

Gjallar is actually a name from Norse mythology. When it came time for Ragnarok, the final battle before the end of the world, the god Heimdall would blow his horn to gather all the armies of the worlds together. That horn is called Gjallar.

Gjallar is the latest in a line of black-skinned German mutants who call themselves the Schattenfeuer ("Shadowfire"), and who have made a career out of defending the smaller villages and hamlets of that country from monsters and criminals. His father named him after the horn, in the hopes that he would grow up to be big and strong, able to defend the village of Kelheim as he had. Unfortunately, Gjallar was born an Empathy Defender, so the name is kind of a joke now---I purposefully chose a name that was way too big for the poor kid attached to it.
  2. Hero Name: Gjallar

Name: Gjallar Kelheim (all but one member of his family registered under their real first names)

    Eye color: Luminous red

    Skin color: Black

    Size: 4'10"

    Weight: 100 lbs.

    Age: 17

Human?: Yes, though his secondary physical mutations make him seem more demonic.

Strengths: Strong empathic sense; wields the power to heal and augment other superhumans (and more recently, himsef); can manipulate shadows (a genetic legacy from his father) to disable his enemies or render himself invisible. Kind-hearted, determined, optimistic.

Weaknesses: Physically frail, prone to panic attacks in the face of great danger, poor education; empathic powers make him vulnerable to confusion, dizziness, and nausea in combat situations.

Personality: As stated, Gjallar is mostly upbeat and kind-hearted. He truly believes in the ability of Paragon City's heroes to fight back the tide of evil and make the city a safe place once again. He is very young and idealistic, an outlook which often leads to bouts of depression or panic when he is confronted with the darker side of a hero's career. He is a consummate hero fanboy; even before moving to Paragon City from Germany, he boasted one of the more impressive collections of Freedom Phalanx merchandise.
