I'm willing to bet he's asking for Tank_Washington's cross post to be hopefully locked.

I like what's said here, Talen. And I agree with you.
-
These all exist in one form or another...
[ QUOTE ]
Jump set:
Jump Smash large damage, long animation attack where the the attacker jumps up and lands on the head of the target.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a Martial Arts power that pretty much does this, though I can't recall the name.
[ QUOTE ]
Teleport:
Add wormhole
[/ QUOTE ]
So gravity doms and trollers can have 2 wormholes?
[ QUOTE ]
Fly:
Air Domination: Big damage, anti-fly attack that Zips (super speed flight) the attacker to the target.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure what you mean by Zips, are you talking like Shield Charge or Lightning Rod?
[ QUOTE ]
Concealment:
Group invisibilty
[/ QUOTE ]
Illusion controllers get this ability.
[ QUOTE ]
Super Speed:
Sonic Boom: Big damage, knock back attack where the attacker is zipped to the target and then a "boom" occurrs.
[/ QUOTE ]
This sounds like Shield Charge/Lightning Rod.
[ QUOTE ]
Health:
Fort
[/ QUOTE ]
Fort...as in fortitude? Its an empath buff...
[ QUOTE ]
Leadership:
Mindlink
[/ QUOTE ]
VEAT widows have this ability...
[ QUOTE ]
Presence:
Spectral Terror
[/ QUOTE ]
Illusion/ controllers have this one...
[ QUOTE ]
Fitness:
Hardy: Hit point boost and resistance
[/ QUOTE ]
Like High Pain Tolerance or True Grit?
I think it would overpower some builds, having access to these powers as a 5th power pool.
I like the idea of maybe extending power pools like epics have been extended, but I don't think these powers would be the way to go.
A Willpower or Shields who already has access to +hp/resist would most definitely want Hardy just as a a Widow would want a second ML, seeing how they are powers from 2 different pools. Or even everyone having access to fortitude.
I like the direction, but not the content.
*and what Aett said. -

Just because you only see it one way, doesn't mean it can't exist another...
Once upon a time, there was this guy, and he said the Earth orbited the Sun. But because everyone believed the Sun orbited the Earth, they shunned him. But just because they believed in a way of things, doesn't mean another way doesn't exist.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've given my reasons for my objections. You have anything to add?
[/ QUOTE ]
Apparently not. Wouldn't matter anyway, would it. -

[ QUOTE ]
I'll have to double check with someone thats actually played the game, but I don't think they have battles on top of vehicles in GTA. However I'm sure I could see spiderman or Iron man fighting someone on top of a truck or any number of other superheroes for that matter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Spiderman HAS fought on top of cars and trains and trucks! So have other heroes... Its not uncommon. -
[ QUOTE ]
ok, the superhero genre thing aside, to give the blunt straight forward answer i feel matches this request: the game engine can not do this. there end of thread. if we can't ride on top of vehicles do to restrictions, what makes you think we'll be able to ride in them?
i think Bill has a sticky on this, i just cant find it right now.
[/ QUOTE ]
The thread isn't entirely stuck on just vehicle travel, but other ways to travel as well. Game engines evolve, things change. Complacency with the status quo deters evolution. -
[ QUOTE ]
my reasoning for the superhero genre mmo was that, and i don't care how many times people say it isn't the reason, everyones underlying rationalization is :World of Conan Hammer Warcrafting" has this why can't we.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're wrong. You may assume the basis of the rationale is because WoW and what ever other mmo's have personal transports, but because there is existing precedent for personal transportation in Super Hero Genre Comics that there is a chance we could get it, even if its a gfx effect.
[ QUOTE ]
while your examples of superheroes that use vehicles to get around is somewhat arguable, they didnt use their vehicles to get around all the time. in fact some of the x-men don't need to use a vehicle to travel at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Like Iceman? Yea, that'd be a cool way to travel too. But they don't just have one form of transportation. Sure, some fly, others don't. Some leap, others don't. Some teleport, others don't. Some run fast, others don't. Some can't do ANY of those things. Cyclops isn't gifted with any travel powers, is he? No. He did ride a motorcycle though, since he wasn't always going to use the blackbird as you point out.
[ QUOTE ]
as for your ant idea, if you have ever been "underneath" the zone maps you would see there is no way to dig under the streets. theres nothing there but empty space.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats the present. Once upon a time, there were no Rogue Isles... but they were added.
[ QUOTE ]
as for trying to use the "power effects" as a arguing point, you fail. for the people that dont use the power trays because they have their powers binded to keys on their keyboard, it lets them know what is running and what isnt. the glow from SS could be the friction your causing on the ground. gives it that "lighting the ground on fire cause your moving so fast" feeling.
[/ QUOTE ]
Could be, but then everyone who takes SS got the same power from different origins with the same effect. Maybe they don't burn up the road. Maybe they do. For the record, there is no 'burn' marks left by SS, only a glow at their feet that trails.
and, what the heck do power trays have to do with this? -
[ QUOTE ]
list me 1 superhero genre MMO that has this.
[/ QUOTE ]
Geez, way to pigeonhole the genre. Most MMOs are fantasy or scifi in style. Superheroes are a bit of both, don't you think? I can be a mage, or a robot, or a mutant, or a mad scientist, or a an average joe. But I kinda can't list a super hero genre MMO with this seeing how they're limited.
[ QUOTE ]
lets stop using movies and comic books to justify things. while i have no problem with them, as i read them and watch the movies, there is no continuum in them. stories change with the director/writer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Whats the continuum here? We have static, repeatable story lines (arcs, TFs) with few variations (papers/radios/MA). Our powers change, new powers are added, other things are added too. The entire basis of CoX are on super hero comics and movies and the entire genre. Our expectations are base on what we know and see. What we want is based on what exists in comic culture, but not in CoX.
[ QUOTE ]
the raptor pack serves the purpose of getting around with a vehicle. also the zones aren't big enough for this. there isn't a need to ride around in a vehicle. maybe if there weren't any war walls and it was an open environment world, then yes i could possibly see this. but since the game isn't, i can't.
[/ QUOTE ]
Subjective subjective subjective. You say the raptor pack is enough, thats your opinion. Its stagnant and only available as a temporary power. Adding the jump pack, raptor pack etc. as costume options for flight and leaping add variety. Other explanations for the powers other than everyone has them are needed. SS? Some people like the glowy running bit. Others do not and would prefer some graphic or object to explain it. A skateboard, a moped, a cheetah. It adds variety and flavor to the citizens of CoX. No longer would they be in 1 of 5 categories for travel, but they would be a little more unique.
Additionally, other ways to travel would be nice, e.g the ant thing (conceptually cool). -
Tell that to Batman, the Fantastic 4, Ghost Rider, Wonder Woman, oh, and X-Men.
Not all heroes have the ability to run fast, leap high, teleport, or fly. So a vehicle transportation system isn't such a far fetched idea.

I'm curious. How well can an emp/archery duo pvp in zone?
-
Hmmm...
My Kin/Son defender was running on a Synapse TF with 4 members. After a mish, 1 was selling and the other 2 were AFK for what ever reason. Babbage spawned on me so I decided to attack. I 'soloed' it, per se, using all 3 WB nukes and a shivan (no inspirations or Amy).
My 3 teammates came back and asked what had happened, and when I told them they were stunned.
It was fun. -

A Guide for Pain Domination Corruptors. The numbers are from Mids.
The Powers
[u]Nullify Pain[u]
Nullify Pain will heal nearby allies for some hit points by numbing the pain caused by their wounds. Nullify Pain is not as potent as Soothe, but can heal multiple targets at once.
EndCost: 13
Rech: 8 seconds
Range: 25 foot radius PBAoE
Cast time: 2.03 seconds
Heal: 11%
Rating:***
Comments: This is your tier 1 Pointblank Area of Effect style heal. Works pretty well teamed or solo. Typical slotting can be from 4-6. If you find yourself using this often, throw an EndRdx in there.
[u]Soothe[u]
You heal an ally by numbing their pain and calming their mind. You cannot use this power on yourself.
EndCost: 13
Rech: 4 seconds
Range: 80 feet
Cast time: 2.27 seconds
Heal: 21.6%
Rating:****
Comments: This is a basic single target heal. Slotted 4-6 slots and have atleast one EndRdx as its cost can added up.
[u]Share Pain[u]
Share Pain draws away some of an ally's anguish caused by their wounds, but damages the user. The pain caused by this power causes the user to go into a frenzy, briefly increasing their damage out put.
EndCost: .52
Rech: 15 seconds
Range: 80 feet
Cast time: 2.27 seconds
Effects: Massive tank heal with some drawbacks and benefits. Firstly, it gives you -100% regeneration and -100% heal resistance, meaning, unless you have health or +regen, you won't recover any health while you're affected. However, in turn, you get a 25% damage buff.
Rating:****
Comments: THIS IS NOT ABSORB PAIN. Its better. Yes, you can kill yourself with it, and yes you can stack the damage buff, but having a massive heal like this can bring a brute from almost dead to completely alive. As for slotting? No EndRdx needed here! Only Heals and RechargeRdx, 4-6 slots though, depending on playstyle.
[u]Conduit of Pain[u]
You revive a fallen ally by becoming a Conduit of Pain and transferring the pain that was inflicted upon them back upon your enemies. This will briefly empower you increasing your damage output, recovery rate, attack rate and chance to hit. After a minute the effect will wear off leaving you weakened for 30 seconds. Your damage, attack rate and chance to hit will all be reduced during this period.
EndCost: 26
Rech: 180 seconds
Range: 15 feet
Cast time: 3.2 seconds
Effect to Caster: As a corruptor, you'll get a 20% tohit buff, 30% damage buff, 75% recharge buff, and 175% recovery buff. However, after the 60 seconds of buffs, you'll be hit with a debuff of damage, tohit, and recharge for 30 seconds.
Rating:***
Comments: This power is situational and requires a dead player body to use. As such, depending on your role as a corruptor, it can be skipped, taken, or put off til later. No need to add extra slots. A recharge will help with down time.
[u]Enforced Moral[u]
Frees an ally from any Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Fear, Confuse and Immobilize effects and leaves them resistant to such effects for a good while. Also, grants target clearer Perception to see hidden foes, and a minor recharge and movement speed boost. Protection and Movement boost will improve with Multiple applications and as you advance in level, although the Recharge and Movement boost will only apply for the first few applications. If the ally is not damaged, Enforce Morale will cause them some pain before granting its benefits.
EndCost: 5.2
Rech: 4 seconds
Range: 70
Cast: 3.1 seconds
Duration: 90 seconds
Rating:****
Comments: Gives you a small movement buff, recharge buff, perception, and resistance to all mezzes. If the target of your buff is full health or close to it, Enforced Morale will inflict small damage on them. Its helpful for squishy teammates or those who don't have some sort of mezz protection. Again, depending on what role you have as a corruptor, it can be skipped, taken asap, or put off. No need to add extra slots, however and EndRdx will help when casting.
[u]Soothing Aura[u]
While this power is active all nearby allies will be healed by Soothing Aura every couple of seconds for a small portion of their health.
EndCost: .2 End/sec
Rech: 10 seconds
Range : 15 ft Radius PBAoE
Cast time: 1.67 sec
Effect: 4.12% heal every 4 seconds
Rating:*
Comments: This power, in my humble opinion, is nearly useless. Sure it provides small dosage of healing every 4 seconds, but you can heal for a lot more than that with on activation of Nullify Pain. Its a nice place holder for uniques or to get set bonuses.
[u]World of Pain[u]
When this power is activated the user and all nearby team members will gain a moderate damage, resistance, and to-hit bonus. Additionally those affected by this power will have their resistance to placate effects improved.
EndCost: 10.2
Rech: 240 seconds
Range: 35 foot radius PBAoE
Cast time: 2.03 seconds
Duration: 90 seconds
Effects: 11.3% resist to all, 10% ToHit buff, 16% Damage buff, Placate resistance
Rating:*****
Comments: A powerful PBAoE buff that affects 3 areas (Dmg, ToHit, Res) that can be perma'd! Sign me up! This is a powerful buff and I recommend taking this ASAP. 6 Slot this baby and for basic IO slotting, I recommend 2 tohit, 2 res, and 2 RcgRdx.
[u]Anguishing Cry[u]
You let out an Anguishing Cry causing a great deal of pain in your foes reducing their resistance and defense to damage for a short time.
EndCost: 13
Rech: 120 seconds
Range: 25 fot radius PBAoE
Cast time: 1.97 seconds
Duration: 30 seconds
Effect: -30% Defense Debuff, -22.5% Resistance Debuff
Rating:*****
Comments: This power is a prime debuffer, affecting both resistance and defense. Sure, its PBAoE, but for with a self heal in Nullify Pain and a resistance buff in World of Pain, setting AC off is no problem. 6 slot this bad boy and don't forget to slot some accuracy.
[u]Painbringer[u]
You transform an ally to pain incarnate turning them into an inexhaustible killing machine. While the character is imbued with this power they will benefit from incredible health regeneration, endurance recovery and improved damage potential for a short time.
EndCost: 10.4
Rech: 300 seconds
Range: 80 feet
Cast time: 2.27 seconds
Duration: 90 seconds
Effect: 500% regen, 800% recov, 50% damage bonus
Rating:*****
Comments: This is your ability to turn some lucky individual into a god. You can give this enough +recovery to overcome Tier 9 crashes (such as Nova, Elude, etc). 6 slot with emphasis in recharge and endurance and a little health.
[/ QUOTE ]
fixt. Now you can add a corruptor perspective. -
I'd have to rate this guide 2/10.
You OBVIOUSLY have no experience with Pain Domination on a corruptor, as you so blatantly stated that you BELIEVE something works a specific way.
YOUR NUMBERS FAIL as they are Mastermind numbers!
This is more a MM Pain Dom guide, so you should edit out any reference of Corruptors. They aren't the same.
And yes, this may seem incredibly harsh, but I'd prefer it that people who looked your guide over wouldn't be mislead or misinformed about Pain Domination.
And for CHRIST'S sake, its PAIN DOMINATION, not freaking EMPATHY. -

Job: Dockworker
Location: Docks (various) around Paragon and Rogue Isles
Effect: For every X hours logged out you experiance a small endurance increase for Y amount of time.
Description: You've put in long hours at the Docks each day and have helped the flow of goods continue to get to the public.
[/ QUOTE ]
Isn't there already a dock worker badge?
