I know, nothing is wrong, but I keep having people tell me the only way to go for Invul is cardiac. I don't think cardiac would be a bad choice, but I have no end issues and I am softcapped S/L, so I opted for nerve (tier 3 atm). It just seems that the three powers that give me defense could use more defense than I could use resistance.
Thoughts? -
Quote:I disagree. It sounds like it is doing EXACTLY what was intended. It sounds like you did meet the threshold and were rewarded with a table. Those tables are random and there is less chance in the randomness to get rares and very rares. So it sounds like it is happening exactly as intended.I can honetly say that damage has nothing to do with participation. I have run 22 trials on my shield/elec tank and he does massive AoE damage and have gotten 20 commons and 2 uncommons....All of these trials ended successfully with no problems and each time I never had to go to hospital but I still get crap for drops no matter what I do in the trials. Bad part is the 2 times I got uncommon I dcd upon entering, so no I would have to say that participation formula is not working as intended. If it is working the way they intend it to then I forsee a lot of people avoiding the trials this really needs to be adressed.

Klaw--with all the respect given to you, what evidence do you have for this? Like I said, my only Very Rare ever has been sonic support, so I was giving almost no damage.
-
The only evidence I have (which is not statistically legit) is that the only Very Rare I have ever gotten is on my sonic support toon.
-
Quote:I tend to agree. I think that part of it is that some people don't understand research or statistics. Random means that you may, statistically speaking, run 100 trials and never get a rare or run 100 trials and get 15. Random is random.Random is random.
I have done Incarnate trials where I've "participated" to the maximum extent my character could and have only gotten common table rewards. I have been in other Incarnate trials where I mapserved/crashed at least half of the total time of the trial and logged back in just in time to get very rare table rewards.
I know people love to over-analyze and rationalize all sorts of conspiracy theories when it comes to mysterious facets of the game like this. But I remain unconvinced that there's anything going on other than what Ironblade described earlier in this thread. Sure maybe overall league participation factors into the net result of whatever individuals do. But until the Rednames confirm that it's merely an academic speculation. *shrugs*
I think some people get a rare or very rare when they have done a certain thing and create a causal relationship when, in fact, it was just random and happened to match what they believed helps you get one.
I could be wrong...who knows? -
Is it wrong that I get frustrated at nearly always getting uncommons? I actually get commons as often as rares (more or less), which makes then cheaper to make, but the drop itself makes it rare.

Quote:Scientist--I have no idea if what you are saying is true or not, but I hope you are wrong. I am the type of active player that doesn't go afk, plays hard, likes to be a large part, but I hate the idea (pressure) of having to make sure I hit some target that I have no way of monitoring in order to get a "good" reward. Where did you see this? Can you link it for us?I actually got the impression from posts of Arcanaville's (who has almost certainly worked out the most about how the system works, and may well have figured out a few things the devs don't know about it yet) that this may only be partially true.
She thinks, if I recall correctly, that as an INDIVIDUAL, once you participate a certain amount, you get the reward table instead of threads. Participation includes shooting at enemies, sticking with the team, click buffing of teammates (as opposed to running Maneuvers, say), and probably other factors. It doesn't include much love for pets and pseudopets, unfortunately, so if you rely heavily on those consider adding some personal attacks, even if its just a Brawl or Origin attack once in awhile.
But she also thinks that its likely that there are more than one reward table, and how the whole LEAGUE performs can move the people in it to a better table. It is, as yet, much less clear about what is considered "good performance" for a league. It probably includes fewer people dying, more people being active, more objectives being accomplished (such as zero escapees in BAF, all collectibles collected in Lambda, etc.). The kinds of things that, in theory, good players should be trying to accomplish anyway to succeed.
The last thing the devs probably want in the system is an incentive to, say, leave dead teammates lying there in favor of running around "doing something". I doubt they can cover every single nuance of player behavior in their system, but so far with the exception of pet heavy ATs it seems to be working reasonably well with the recent fix to reduce excessive uncommons. -
Quote:Well, the trials are actually where I noticed it.OP, is there a particular mission/TF/enemy that is really putting you through the ringer? I know my Fire/Rad had a lot of trouble on the Incarnate trials at first and ate quite a bit of floor. I know if I get sloppy, I get dead real fast. If I stay sharp and take the time to set those debuff toggles, I'm back to godlike status.
-
This is actually what I thought, too, but good to know I am not alone.

I tried to decipher the answer in the 1000+ responses to the Incarnate Reward thread, but I couldn't do it. I am not smart enough.
I do have a few questions, though. So the way I understand it, you have to have enough "participation". If you do, you get a random roll at the type of table you can get.
I read a lot of people not believing this and thinking that they needed to be the one to kill the AV or have the most damage or be the tank. Now that we have more experiential data, are people still going with this theory, or are we believing the random table thing?
For example, has anyone tested enough doing "just enough" participation (killing), but not a lot, and still gotten good rewards? -
Thanks guys. I will look closely at these when I am at my computer. Seems like it will help a lot.

I remember when my Fire/Rad troller was the closest thing to a main I had (alt fever, different topic). She could demolish anything and rock it out.
Well she is 50+1 and I feel weak. I am always dying, or out of end, or something. I don't use mids (and don't know how). Any simple advice? -

Quote:I wish it was just uniform across all servers. I realize it is not that big of a deal, but it would work well for me! One reason I do like RWZ is that I can sell and craft right there between trials.Triumph is pocket D
RWZ is a fairly accessible coop zone, but I find it to be problematic should a Mothership Raid break out; All those people standing about looking for iTrials count against the zone's cap - so the zone fills faster, potentially fewer people in the bowl, and trials that end have their members split between instances.
Cimerora would seem to be (IMO) the superior alternative to Pocket D, as it is mostly used to form ITFs or farm the wall. -
I know that Steadfast Protection is of the +3% defense uniques. I believe that there is at least one PVP, which I cannot afford. Are there others? I'd love to know what to look for.
-
I play on several servers, and it seems that there is a "norm" for each server where the trials are forming. Some are in Pocket D, others in RWZ, and I have even seen them in Cimerora. I realize things could change, and I realize there aren't set rules, but could anyone tell me the "normal" place to find trials on the following servers: Freedom, Virtue, Infinity, Justice, Champion, Liberty, Victory, Triumph
Thanks. -

If your toon is already 50 and you play him, you can VERY QUICKLY afford 90% of the sets. If you are playing lvl 50 content, you will earn a few million for every few hours that you play. Then add the drops that you get. Add in any purple drops you might get. Use your merits from TFs to buy your sets or to buy random recipes (which could be your sets OR valuable ones to sell). Getting inf should be really easy for you at this point.

Like everyone else, I was excited for Dual Pistols was announced. Boy, have I lost enthusiasm. I had a DP corruptor that I deleted (and I NEVER delete toons) and I have a DP blaster that I pushed to get to 35, and he has sat ever since.
It's not that I think it is a terrible set, but I just wonder why I would play him. Animation is slow (flashy, but slow). I don't feel like I do all that damage (could just be me, I am not backing it up with numbers), but comparing my DP to so many other sets, it seems that I am underpowered.
So what are the reasons that you have enjoyed DP? Help me see the light! -
I am all for any MM set that is totally unexpected (I think Dinosaurs fits this). I loved the nanobot suggestions I have read. Heck, little attack bunnies would be hilarious and fun, and WAY different. How about Children of the Corn-ish pets? HA. Pets that are normally inanimate objects would be fun (like a Utility MM--broomsticks, Shovels, and Axe Picks). OK, maybe all my ideas are too goofy, but I still think they would be fun.
-
That makes no sense, if I am understanding you correctly. Just because I already have a lvl 50 means I shouldn't want to level my other toons? Some people, I suppose, like to have a 50 and just play that. I am trying to say that I WANT to have fun playing my redside toons, cannot find a team (EVEN when I start one)
-
Some of you are just saying, "well just form your own teams." I am totally willing to form and lead teams and I STILL struggle to get teams. That is what I am trying to say.
-
I guess we are not connecting on my point. My point is not to have a toon where I can get all the end game. I have 2 redside 50s as it is. My point was that I would love to play some of my villains more, but just can't seem to get a team. Getting them to 50 ends up being the "end", but playing them with people along the way is what I am looking for. So, yes, 20+ is the number because I would love to play some toons more.

Quote:And Clave...just realized we live by each other. I am in the Springs, but from Denver...I've considered it on occasion as well for the same reason. I play at night/early morning due to my work hours and I often have to jump around on toons before I can find a team, and I always have better luck on blueside. Thing is is, I like the redside zones much more and the more direct flow of leveling through which zone. Plus I just don't see some of my toons fitting in; I'm not an RPer or anything, but taking my name-sake stalker to blueside would just feel sort of wrong somehow.
I'm sure someone will come along soon and reccomend you signing up for the various chat channels (something I need to do myself!), so you could try that if you haven't already.
