Tell your friend to run a Keyes trial without experienced players. That will be enough answer.
But like everyone else said, the Field Corp Analyst should solve the problem. -
Storm? Really? I am NOT disagreeing, but surprised. I find myself feeling underpowered when I play my storm toons instead of others. And the freezing rain (or whatever it is called, I get confused on power names) seems like it causes so many baddies to run away from the fear component that it is inferior to others. But I am not fond of my storm defender, so I'd love to hear more.

Quote:Well, we did complete this ITF. Besides debuff on Rommy, I didn't need any help, so there shouldn't have been *that* many complaints. It was less than an hour.I've done ITF with a high 40s where it took five years and we had 9,000 deaths, and then the leader abandoned us after Rommy ate us for lunch, dinner, and breakfast the next morning. I was on a very poorly slotted MA/Inv, who now kicks A, but then sucked A.
Recently, I ran with a lv 35 tank, and worked really well as the 2nd tank. We got our Master of. [But it was Hoarde people, not a pug.]
I have only quit two TFs in the last year. One was the worst, most mutinous pug you've ever seen. Not mutiny, anarchy. Epic opinions/attitudes. The other was Numina and we got Zombies in one zone and Rikti invasion in another, we were all tired and just shut it down.
There is a demographic in CoH that doesn't really play the game. They like to chat on broadcast in Atlas and get PLed. The only time they'll leave is to unlock their capes. In which case they do blind invites until they get a full team of people to do their work for them.
I do think that a team of one 50 and 7 35s can do ITF fine if they know what they are doing, though. -
Agreed on two areas:
1) ITF is available, but fairly hard if you are new. My mind just went to ways to get him xp beyond being Pled.
2) It is harder to find teams with the new trials. -
So if anyone needs me to help you learn more about the game, just ask. HA!

I had a funny experience last night. Before you blast me, I am giving myself the blame. I made a mistake, but here is what happened:
I am not a farmer, but sometimes I get bored and I pull out my fire/fire tank and farm in AE enough to get a gold recipe, then move on. I announced in Atlas that someone could join me (free, mind you). Two people jumped at it. We ran through three missions. One of the guys says, "My main toon is lvl 42; this toon is just for fun". I asked if he had any 50s and he said no. He said that he could never find a team (on Freedom, at that!).
So I said, "Do a bunch of ITFs. You can level fast and they are always happening"
He says, "What are ITFs?"
So I had him switch to his main (lvl 42). I hooked him up with a TF channel and explained how it worked. I did the entire Cimerora Arc for him as quickly as I could so he could enter Midnighters.
Even though I was running out of time, I organized an ITF and asked that we do a speed run. This is where we ran into our problems and where I take the blame. If I didn't have time, I should have just not done the TF. So my team is the 42 (with no IO, heck maybe no SOs) and a bunch of debuff.
Well, we get through through the first three missions, but I do most of the killing/work because my team is squishes (not because they were all bad players). There is a lot of death, if you don't include me. Another mistake, since I had been farming, we did the first mish on +4. Again, I do fine, but my team does not.
Anyway, the new guy, understandably, says he cannot take anymore during the 3rd mission and says he is going to quit. I try to tell him he would be done in like 10 minutes, but he says this is not for him, that he hates it, and "maybe we would do better if you didn't keep jumping around everywhere" (meaning he was upset that I was speeding it and didn't understand the concept).
I told him to quit if he wanted, and I wasn't really mad. Again, I could have trained him MUCH MUCH better. Our "not so successful" speed took about 55 min and I totally failed in helping him want to do another ITF.
Oops! So if you are the lvl 42, sorry. Seriously, I am supposed to go through fast and jump around on a speed, but I wasn't a great liaison to the easiest tf to use to level.
And to those who stuck it out with me. YOU ROCK. -
This is helpful. Thanks to both of you.
Besides end reductions, what other enhancements are best (or recommended)?
Also, is there a demon that Hell on Earth *should* be cast on most? -
Can anyone tell me if they know of any guides for Demons? Under the guides, there are none listed for Demons.
Thanks. -
I tend to be slow on the news...what adjustments? Can you share a link so I can understand/catch up?
-
I have never done mids, even though I see it everywhere...maybe someday! LOL
-
I looked for this on the forums, but couldn't find it. For my dark tank, if I take CoD, how much defense does it actually add (unenhanced)? Thanks for anyone who could help.
-
Quote:HA HA, really? That tells you how much I have even looked! The farmers have developed an intricate and ingenious coding system to flag their arcs as farms without drawing any suspicion to themselves. To find them, open the search parameters and enter these letters in their exact sequence: farm
And yes, it's actually true. -
I would appreciate anyone's help with these two:
1) I have seen the "farms" at +4/8. I have no interest in farming, but I wanted to test my abilities against these farmers. In other words, I would like to see how my toons can or cannot do those same farms at those levels. How do I know the ID number of a farm or two?
2) I created an arc when AE first came out (like most everyone). I actually think it is good and have gotten positive feedback, how do I get a couple of more people to try it without doing it in channels? (BTW, if any of you would be kind enough, it is arc ID 120433) I think I get a badge if two more people try it.
Thanks for all of the help in advance! -
Quote:No offense taken. Actually, I play on several servers and Freedom is one. I think Freedom was REALLY BAD like 4 years ago. Now I think it is just fine. I play there as often as any other server--especially on those odd hours when I want to team and know no one will be around on say, Champion..Sorry you had a bad experience- as someone else pointed out, be glad you were released quickly and suffered no further headache from that team. Sometimes the short term sting of rejection proves to be the best form of protection.
I will be glad when people stop looking down their noses at one another based on what servers we play on. There are good players and bad players on every server. Just because a person plays on a less populated server does not mean you are a better player than anyone else. OP, this isn't really directed at you personally, but I am just referring to the all too palpable sentiment that playing on Freedom is so frowned upon on the forums. -
Quote:AWESOME. I wish they all turned out that well...The issue isnt whether Ice has buffs.. Its that it doesnt have the buff that many people are looking for which is Heals.. RA's and Kinetics..
Look, when someone doesnt want you on a team because you dont fit their ideal.. I usually count myself lucky as not being on that team.. I have found 90% of the time that I just missed out on being on TEAM STUPID that doesnt work together a a team, dies a lot and is looking for buffs to overcome their stupidity.. As I always say.. you cant heal stupid...
I got on a team once that said they were looking for a defender.. So I joined with my Rad/Rad.. I get YAY DEFENDER.. ok no more dying ( that was a bad sign right there)
they were fighting some +3's so Im laying down the debuffs on the mobs and attacking..and we are starting to plow through them... but we are taking some damage ( although no had died since i joined the team )and the team leader screams at me..
STOP ATTACKING JUST HEAL... I said well I have a lot of debuffs and... again the team STOP ATTACKING JUST HEAL...
So I stopped attacking... and just threw out my very small AoE Heal...
and the team died... everyone said wait what happened.. we were doing good..
I said.. Oh well that was my fault..
See I had Radiation Infection which is a 50% defense debuff and a 48% to hit debuff.. but I shut that off so I could just heal like the leader said.
Then I had Enervating Field running which brought their reistance down 30% and brought their damage down 25% but I shut that off so I could heal..
Oh yeah and then I was using Lingering Radiation cut their regen 500% and theire recharge rate 25% but i stopped doing that so I could heal...
And I stopped using Irradiate which is another 50% defense debuff in an area and Neutron Bomb which is another 25% defense debuff in an area bcause I was told STOP ATTACKING JUST HEAL...
OH and I stopped dropping Accelerate Metabolism which was buffing your damage 30% and yor recharge 25% well because its not a heal and I was told JUST HEAL...
So wait classic here.. someone asks for the star so they can invite a friend.. and the leader was kicked LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
OK glad to know people agree. I thought I was losing my mind.
-
So you agree that ice is, in fact, a buffer? Or am I just crazy?
-
I joined a team looking for "buffs"...then promptly kicked and told my lvl 46 ice defender is NOT a buffer. Huh? Ice shields and extra hp are not buffs? What kind of buffs are teams looking for then, when they "want a buffer"?
(Keep in mind, this *was* on Freedom) -
Quote:I was struggling to read this one...and I am not trying to be critical. To help, Clam=Calm; Argoed=aggroed; argo=(I think)aggroedAs others have said, have fun, ask if you don't know. Don't be afraid to tell others that you are new.
If you find yourself in a high level zone as low level character, run down the center of the streets, cars and trucks don't hurt you, mobs can hurt. Mobs on the street tend to stay on the sidewalks, and only ambushs and argo mobs jaywalk.
Mobs have three states, clam, alerted and argoed, clam they will walk back and fouth or just stand there emoting. Alerted they will stop what they are doing an look at you, Argo they will start attacking you. If they become alerted you can back off before they attack you, but if you approach or even stand there to long they will attack.
If you have to go to the hospital remember to talk to the nurse, she will sell you insp.
That all I have for this time.
Good hunting. -
I barely stuck with the event during the first few episodes with the bounces back and forth in time. I wasn't interested and almost stopped...then it started ROCKING. I haven't watch the last episode yet, but it definitely got better and better.

Quote:This is probably one of the better pieces of advice. There isn't much you can do "wrong". Even more so now than in the past. Creating inventions *seems* really confusing. Play along and it won't be. When you hit 50, don't worry about the incarnate stuff--same thing, it seems so confusing, but you can't really do it wrong.
-This game is very forgiving. Compared to other MMO's, there's little to lose by trying new things (except maybe a little debt, that in the end is just another badge). Most AT/Power combinations can solo to varying degree and feel powerful. Also, don't be afraid to pick up a power or two 'just for fun' over functionality.
Just have fun. Nearly every mistake you could make doesn't hurt you long-term. -
If you are wanting to team, the best and easiest way is to get on one of the popular channels on your server. Search channels in the chat by right clicking and finding that option.
Also, if you want to level fast and don't want to be PLed, do task forces. It is the easiest way to have a consistent team for an extended time, to get xp, and to not spend so much time always looking for players. A bonus blueside is that there is an accolade power if you do the "main" ones (Posi, synapse, sister psyche, citadel, manticore, numina) -
Quote:I do not have holds and I do not hover.I like Nerve on tankers, but I like the extra taunt in all attacks and Invincibility. Extra defense is always good, especially since some newer content is going to feature a need for it. Do you have any Holds? Do you Hover?
Cardiac is not, IMO, a no-brainer. It is a good choice, but depending on your goals, secondary, and APP, any of the 4 could be a good choice.
