Quote:HMV in Leeds have a couple of copies of GvsE for the princely sum of one pound. And I was hoping to get at least one CD
.
When I have finally bought computer that can run CoH - there were no CD's available to purchase in stores anymore, so I had to buy it online.
Having said that, they also have copies of Tabula Rasa going for £20 and RF Online for £10! -
Most of the UK stuff that reached the US is of the pop verity, and sounding American / mid Atlantic sells.
A awful lot of the UK indie stuff tends to be with sung with British accents (some the Yanks may know are The Smiths, Oasis, Blur and Arctic Monkeys), but it may be it's easier to sing with that kind of mid Atlantic twang which is why so many continental groups sing with that accent, whether in English or their own language. -
Quote:I'd like to think that you are right. Looking at the members list, Scapegoat_NA has made a single post and last logged in during January 06.
For clashes between 2 people, they might go by activity - like if Captain Heroman NA registered in 2006, but hasn't ever posted, and doesn't even have an active game account right now, but Captain Heroman EU still posts from time to time on the forums, and has an active game account, then he'd get to keep the Captain Heroman name, and the inactive player would get a placeholder name for if/when they came back.
The swine! -
Quote:Actually, that also points out another variation. In the UK, bum is a slightly cheeky word for bottom, maybe not to be said in front of your Granny, but usually OK in front of Mum.Bum Bags....
Now thats priceless. Next good ol boy I see with one of those hideous things is getting labeled a bum bagger!
FYI - They went out of style here in the early '90s too. Hence why all the good ol boys have em. That and mullets...
Whereas the North American version describing a gentleman of the road isn't in common usage here (although the verb "bum" can be used as an action to beg i.e. "can I bum a *** off you". However the other use of the verb would be descriptive of the intimate night time activities if two gentlemen who ride the other bus, but because of the occasionally homophobic nature of open forums, let's not dwell on that one, if only for me to avoid getting hit by the modstick.)
Basically, if one of you lot referred to someone as "a low-down bum", we know what you mean, even if you're murdering our language and not actually describing someone with an overhanging posterior.
The fact that most of you American types are ignorant of our colloquial phrases and euphemisms shouldn't be seen as a failing on your part, as we tend to use it as a re-enforcement of our false sense of superiority. -
Quote:More to the point, it's a false and cynical retelling of an event that actually happened and still within living memory.Or just another typical "We're the greatest!" Hollywood movie, who couldn't get history right if their lives depended on it.
I wonder when they'll turn the Falklands War into a movie. And which US movie star will be the Hero of Port Stanley.
Would the yanks be this dismissive if we produced a film showing the Doolittle raid as Bomber Harris leading a squadron of Mosquitoes attacking mainland Japan? -
As well as the f** / cigarette confusion, there is also the previously mentioned f*ggot/bundle of sticks as well as f*ggot/kind of spicy pork meatball and my personal favourite, fagging: a form of social order in British public schools (private schools to you septics out there), which is where we get the slightly archaic "fagged out".

Still enjoy the game, and there's pleny in it so that I can avoid any bits I don't like.
Not going anywhere soon. -
Read about it in PC Gamer and tried the cover disc with the 14 day trial on PC Zone (or was it the other way round?).
I'd bought the full game within the week. -
Manic in one eye, disturbed in the other. Fantastic work again Dr.

Next up, The Mad Hatter, with a contemporary spin on his abilities. I'm certainly no John Tenniel, so I've deliberately avoided making him look like past versions (for fear of very bad comparisons being made...)
The Mad Hatter, Happy Christmas!

This is imo the best one you've done so far. Really amazing.

Got to agree, they've all been from good to great, but that one is something special. -
You could look at melee powers in two ways. Defensively, you are stood at the back of a team, picking off mobs which are engaged with a scrapper, held etc. and one or two breaks off and comes your way. You weaken them with a couple of shots, and finish them of with a single hit of melee (this also works with solo).
Aggressively, get lots of melee powers, pop a purple then pile in. -
A slight breast fixation going on there.
Not that there's anything wrong with that mind you... -

next up, Thorny Devil.
(i put off doing this one for a while, as i knew what i wanted to do, but wasn't sure whether or not i could pull it off)
Thorny Devil, Happy Christmas!

Trust me, it's well and truly pulled off. -
Like many businesses worldwide, NCSoft are reducing costs and overheads because banks are demanding it to keep overdrafts / secure loans. Many of us will suffer this for the next 3-6 months as expenditure will override quality and service. Things won't reverse for at least 12-18 months.
When the sales figures go down, they will blame it on the global credit crunch rather than customer dissatisfaction, squeeze the remaining profit from what they can then drastically reduce the product line (again with pressure from banks). This applies to most businesses in a recession, not just NCSoft. -
I'd say the Crusader was a rip on Boba Fett, which the Juggernaut looks nothing like.

*sigh*
Some people are so ungrateful...
IT'LL BE READY WHEN IT'S READY!!! -
Here's a couple of shots of my main. Please feel free to ignore if the numbers are getting silly:

You definitely have a lot of talent. What are you using to draw these with?

Blapper or Glass Cannon for non-copyright, Blappy is just an invention of this thread.
And I can say this with a [u]tiny[u] amount of authority. -

Debt was always part of the game, now it's so minimal as to be pointless.
I agree with those wishing for it to be rolled back. -
Pull to avoid aggro, supplement hand to hand with insp, aim and build up.
My usual technique against a small group is to snipe one mob, queue up shocking bolt against another while snipe is activating, pile in and clean up.
When in a team against a bigger group, blast at first to thin out the crowd, then pile in and lay about you, perhaps targeting through a scrapper. Concentrate on downing one mob at a time rather than spreading damage.
I'd suggest leaning a play style of your own, having fun is more important than doing things by the book.
Lastly, remember that debt is the constant companion of the Blaster, get used to it and it isn't so bad. -

It seems that you are defining blapping as a single style, when there are as many as you would want there to be. Everything I've said works, everything you've said works, neither are wrong, it depends on how you enjoy playing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately this is not a "shades of grey" situation, for Blasters this is black and white: survive or die.
Blapping can be defined as a single style. "Blapping" Blasters use their melee attacks in combat- the point of Blapping is to inflict massive amounts of melee damage to your opponents, and survive whilst doing so. Since Blasters are lacking defensively, above level 25ish you will need to find a way to stop every mob you encounter from two-shotting you. So you will need to either incapacitate them, or be extremely mobile.
Of all Blaster combinations, only /Ice (Ice Patch), Elec/ (Short Circuit) and possibly Sonic/ (Siren's Song) can incapacitate entire mobs at a time. The OP is Elec/, but they will not be able to completely two-shot-drain a mob until level 35. Until then, they'll need to be very mobile when "scrapping" with melee attacks.
You cannot use your melee attacks in combat effectively with just "fly" and bad unsuppressed movement.
Can you use melee attacks without unsuppressed movement? Yes, but you will suck and you will die.
If you want to use Fly (or to a lesser extent, Teleport) as a Blaster; then either you will find yourself relying much more on ranged than melee attacks, or you will find yourself being a very regular visitor to the Hospital.

Riiight. So rarely faceplanting these past 2 1/2 years or so when either in a team or soloing has been either my imagination or just a run of incredible luck?
And being in a Blaster only SG where for years, everyone plays a little (or lot) different means we're all clueless, and we should have been playing your way all this time as that's the ONLY way to be a blapper?
Glad you put me straight on that one...
