They probably didn't want to waste their time on making an extra animation for hover. You know because I am so sure it would be really hard to make it use the animation for Robotics summon.

I thought I was going to be really excited about this issue, so far it has been a lot of disappointment. I gave a bunch of feedback on things, things that a lot of other people made similar to exact comments about in beta and its like they didn't bother to listen.
Well at this point its bugged in game, posted as a bugged on the i21 forums and posted in the Suggestion forums. Not much else I can do without the address of a developer and the hours they travel to and from work.
  2. Would be nice if the FLYING / HOVERING Gun Drone could be summoned while your flying or hovering as well.

I know its crazy talk but some of us are crazy that way.

Yea I just gave up and made a new Huntsman character.
  4. Well they did say it was AVAILABLE, but they never said you could use it

I heard it will be fixed when i21 gets out of beta and goes live....

OH wait it is live.. Sorry

    Quoting myself, bit weird.

Just to make it clear part of my work is doing computer forensics. Pretty much all our machines are Macs, my home machine is a 27" all in one Mac. At work we do bootcamp because some of the tools we use just do not work in a VM environment. But when we can, we try to run our forensic tools in a windows VM machine. It just makes working on cases much easier. But when possible I export items to the Mac machine just to preview and printing out emails and such to PDF which the Mac does natively.

So I am a big Mac fan, but I understand windows is needed and just about 92 to 95 % of the community is running a windows box as well in corporate as well.

My gripe is not with Mac but with city of heroes client and how the developed this piece of software for the Mac. I clearly understand that many would not have had even a clue if they explained the whole thing anyways as it was probably a bit technical to explain for many. But at a minimum they should have at least mentioned or posted it up in a clear place for those interested.

And then I would imagine someone would have posted it up here so when someone like you comes along they clearly know what they are getting into. Basically give you all the facts and let you decide.

But beyond this game Macs run very well. They do not have the issues of the windows registry and all the hooks that some software require to work sometimes. With a Mac for the most part, again for the most part.. You want to uninstall something you drag the folder into the trash and its uninstalled. Backing up a Mac with Time machine alone is amazing. Straight simple, if you never did it before and just started looking at a time machine backup you would understand it. The only learning curve with a Mac is getting rid of window habits. But once you get the concept of the Mac its the same across the board.

So for frustration sake with THIS GAME. I would boot camp your drive and have your laptop running windows and Mac. But beyond that you can stick to the Mac side for everything else. Another issue will be mids. You need windows for mids. Though I read they are going to HTML5 eventually for Mids which means it will work on windows and Mac but I think that is some time away from now. I use a windows virtual machine to run mids on the mac side.

Again Boot Camping is not a bad thing. For me I just decided I would find a Mac way to do things. I know windows for the most part and I wanted to get accustomed to working with Macs for work reasons. I also want my kids to know both windows and mac. Many parents decide to buy their kids a mac laptop for college after they dealt with windows for the last 18 years of their lives and then the child has 2 issues, getting accustomed to college environment and the Mac environment.

Things just run much smoother on Mac, when they are build for the Mac. Cox client was not. That is NCsoft fault and not Mac. I have played MoM ( turn your head upside down for that one ) on the Mac and had zero issues and it ran like a charm and on top the image was even crisper then on my windows machine with a high end video card.

Some are saying double price for half the performance. I'm not trying to be a wise guy here, but there are many things that come into play here. Cuppa clearly mentioned some of it. But when people are biased for the reason of just being biased its because they lack some technical knowledge.

But hey look at it this way then, 600 dollars gets you a nice windows laptop. 800 dollars gets you a mac laptop that can boot camp windows. So for 200 dollars you get both. I think its worth the investment.

So I hope I cleared up anything that might have been misinterpreted by some.
  6. Ever notice when your in a full BAF incarnate that clicking your powers are delayed forcing you to make sure you have something clicked or you get stuck trying to activate a power. Well I am now getting that through regular game play. It is more pronounced now in large BAFs but I get it even running solo on 4/8 setting missions now..
  7. Bah should have read this. I just posted this as well. When I read paper doll I think more of the toon your looking at when your looking at your character for example in the character builder and not the actual toon that your controlling in game.
  8. Had 2 radio missions changed to NO NAME BOSS. When I zoned into mission to check them out. All I seen were the new NPCs introduced at atlas. They where just hanging around doing nothing. These 2 NPCs where spread out sprinkled around the mission. As I traveled along the mission auto completed.
  9. Anytime you fire off hail of bullets I turn into a faceless purple toon for the duration of the animation.
  10. I agree with pretty much what many are saying.

I honestly thought when they asked for animation ideas I thought it was going to be the next few purchasable packs. Basically full alternate animation to old attacks. Then when I read about them going with a market and micro transactions, I thought i21 would come out with tons of new weapons and choices. I will reserve further judgement until the new year to see where they are going with this.

I know for sure the competitor to CoX pumps out stuff like its going out of style.

  12. Let me reinvent the wheel but make one part of it flat. :rollseyes

Just look at your competitors store and mimic theirs. It makes sense. You can see a picture of what your buying and only shows you what you can buy based on your account.
  13. We have a tiny window for purchasing items with real money but the paragon tier screen is a full blown screen. But sadly its filled with circles you need to hover over to see what they say.

Why not have at least 1 button I can click that will give me a full list of what I have. So I don't have to manually count out how many free respecs I have or how many unslotters I have.

Overall I think its much wasted space where a smaller 9 tier pyramid could fix in the corner or something. I get wanting to know what slots are open to choose from, but I think the layout could be better and not waste our time hovering over buttons to see what we got.
  14. Any reason why the market window is 6" x 6" ?

I would really like to see what I am buying as well. Any reason why we cannot have these costumes on a LARGER model instead of wording describing what it is ? I purchased the Barbarian set for the sake of having it because I can. But at the end of the day I did just make a blind buy and that is not something I would do normally on real world items.

I know we can see this stuff in the tailor but what is the point of the market window then listing all these items if I need to be at a tailor to view the items.

I purchased everything but the wedding pack prior to i21. Which includes both clients windows and mac. I was able to select items I already purchased. I didn't check them out because I just wasn't confident in gaming company in trying to fix it afterwards.

It would be nice if the store interface were a bit larger then 6 inches by 6 inches.
  16. The FLYING Gun Drone cannot be summoned if your more then 2 inches off the ground. I'm assuming its a bug from i21
  17. Something with Traps.

Robot Traps is very good as it can do it all at 4/8. But as much as I enjoy my Robot Traps I think my AR Traps is a bit more fun because it can handle the same my Robot does but without the hassle of pet management. So if I can do AVs with my AR Traps then I think something with a bit more higher dps output would probably fair a bit better then my AR Traps does.
  18. I think I am wrong on the Aid Self comment. Sorry..

I will do a test respec and see if I can slot only Aid Self and report back. I was reading somewhere it was only the travel powers I think. I think even the patch might say it as well. Again sorry for talking out of my backside on that part

    Time Bomb?

I don't know, you would have to explain what you mean by lost its luster.

I find it amazing that Poison Traps with 1 IO proc can hold over 10 mobs in combination between the proc and the power itself.

I can place a trip mine ( NOT Time Bomb, even I agree TB is no good ) pretty much at will only being hindered by its recharge rate.

I find it amazing that I can positionally defense cap any toon with traps.

I happen to have rad, dark and kin. I will admit I might not be the sharpest or have the highest technique of tactics. But those secondaries really cannot handle 4/8 farm as easily as my Traps can. If only for 1 simple reason they require an anchor to place debuffs on and then you have make sure you keep the anchor near the rest of the mobs. Just not that easy even with Darks 3 holds ( 2 powers and 1 pet ). On top once the anchor dies the delay in power recharge leaves you without defenses for a short time which ends up being disastrous sometimes. Where as with Traps your big issue is FFG getting clobbered. Luckily FFG is durable enough to handle general AV attacks.

So again I'm not that bright, but I certainly don't think I'm that dumb that I would have 2 Corruptors, 1 Defender and one Mastermind all with Traps that can solo 4/8 settings and Tank AVs and GMs.

I will agree to this, Traps can be some what of a setting up before a fight build depending on what setting your running on solo. I solo 2/6 or 1/8 with just FFG and main attacks and maybe poison trap. So yea on a 4/8 setting I set up before fight. I make sure my FFG is behind me or around a corner out of LOS when possible and I sometimes do admit it gets so crazy with double or triple pulls of 4/8 spawns that my pets, which FFG is considered do get some aggro. So those can be very bad if I can't find a way to isolate my FFG from the mobs. If I have ceiling height I might pop a few purples and fly up to get out of the way and regroup. If not I try to make sure where the choke points are so I have an idea where I need to retreat and regroup to, perfect example of this is the first door during the crey fire farm, its narrow and I can set up there and pull to there with minimal amount of issues of mobs getting behind me . I usually have a phase shift power temp for those moments as well
  20. I have a WM/SD Brute I've been working on for ages. I'm just trying to get into him a bit more. He is defense capped.

The little nuances I seem to forget are power like Against all Odds which increase your damage vs mobs ( max 10 ) and Phalanx Fighting which gives you a Positional Defense increase for each member on your team ( max 3 ).

I'm six slotted in endurance for 2 reasons, one the defense bonus which I need and two the endurance. This build does not conform the the usual standard of having a 2 point difference between recovery and use of endurance.

Alpha slotting wise you can either go cardiac which will give you more then enough endurance but it will also give you some range and 3% increase it looks like in resistances. I don't know if 3% resistance increase across the board is anything. Basically your smash and lethal resistances are going from 35% to 38%.

Or you can go Musculature which will give you and endurance redux and damage increase. You will just be shy of the 2 point leeway many would like again with endurance, but I think its doable. Musculature will give you a damage increase. Which for example Crowd Control is doing 323 against 1 mob, with and increase of 5 mobs total it kicks up to 338, If you add in Musculature Alpha it kicks up to 354. I went 5 though I would image your gonna be doing much more and more then certainly doing 8.

Though the endurance is cutting close I would probably go with Musculature for the damage increase over all.

The other issue is One with the Shield, I am not a big fan of the power for the simple sense it double my resistances, which yes is nothing to complain about in the smash and lethal department getting you up to 64 and then rest in the high 20s and low very low 30s. But its the drain that bothers me. What do you do then ? Yes you could use an Incarnate to help you here as well, but I don't know. I would probably want the resistance shield or the heal regen one instead. In hindsight as I post this, I think I pretty much answered my own question ( came to me as I was doing preview ). Just pick up Barrier Core Epiphany ( 120 second ) out performs One with the Shield with the same recharge and no crash.

With the new changes you can now take any of the 3 tiers power without taking the other 2. So I would probably consider is Aid Self in the place of One with the Shield and just keep it with its base 1 slot.

Or you could take one slot out of Grant Cover and place 1 in Aid Self. I would probably slot it with Numina Conval Heal / Recharge and Heal / Endurance / Recharge for the 12% regeneration bonus. The nice thing it also adds a mezz protection. Might be a good thing to hit yourself with before going into a fight for a temp buff.

Here is the build. No purples.

I sort of disagree with this. For the last 21 years my job has pretty much dictated my life to some degree. I've worked on holidays MANY, MANY, MANY holidays when others were home. I've worked for days on end. Just recently I worked 12 to 15 hour days, 6 days a week for over 30 days. My one day off which was never the same day of the week I was inundated with phone calls.

I've worked in all sorts of environment rain, sleet, snow, hurricanes, floods. I did not have the luxury of saying I can't come in when my car is blocked in with 2 feet of snow all around it and all mass transit is NOT working. They expect me to get up earlier start clearing that snow and make my way in.

End result, you want a game that people pay a lot, you want a game that people pay to play. You want to have a pay check and support you family. You do what is necessary.

I also want to add I could have retire and collect a good pension and moved on to a different career in the computer industry and I'm still there.

And I guess I will add that being in my current position I deal with many software companies. Everyone wants to say our organization uses their software. When we test something out and it doesn't work we give developers enough time to fix what we find faulty or lacking. If they don't we drop them. They hate when we do that. When we buy software, one its not one copy and two the software is so industry specific its thousands of dollars. So they make money and get "street cred" when dealing with us.

I'm NOT a programmer but I will say this, having to tag market items as "1 of" and "2 of" shows me something about the programming or the limitations in the code being used. And I think anyone who is a programmer can clearly understand what I am talking about. Nutshell I am pretty sure that is something they could have done and tracked on the back end and not hard code into market items.

I find that people give too much leeway to game developers because it is entertainment. Imagine if you will this was the program that ran you business and put food on your table just to find out every update put you out of work. Or even better imagine if this was the OS that ran your computer and every time you had some big service patch it would crash your machine.

Regardless of what this might be business or pleasure it should be working and I shouldn't be dreading every time I see an new update because I know what comes along with it. Add on top of this I play on a MAC so its even worse.

If anything I can say welcome to the world that MAC users have to deal with everyday in this game.

And I know some will say or are at least thinking if it's so bad, then why not leave. All I can honestly say is I am truly considering it. I know it doesn't matter and I'm not gonna break any hearts leaving. Matter of fact I am pretty sure the Devs and Mods would be happy to see me leave as I have never paint them in a good light. I think they are a biased lot and enforce rules as they seem fit and is convenient to them and I have said that to them anytime I had to interact with them, which was very limited. I don't considerably think this company handles it customers very well over all.

Some are complaining about being down for 4 hours on a Saturday. MAC users on i20 were down for over 10 days with ZERO compensation.

In i21 BETA we couldn't even play. By the time they got stuff fixed BETA was closing out. While many were on the BETA servers getting free giveaways, I couldn't even get in if I wanted. And only through the very knowledgeable players that were kind enough to help out on the MAC forums ( CuppaMaga to name one of a few ) were players able to even get in when i21 went live.

Am I going to die because I didn't get a free costume code ? Please of course not. But being down for 10 days you think you could just credit my Credit card a few dollars or even the month ? Are they that tight for money ? If so then they have bigger problems.

Again at this point of the game giving away even 50 merits to an account is not going imbalance the game and would just give customers a good feeling. Its about perceptions, I can screw you over but if my overall perception is I am helping you out then its all good. Again anyone who knows someone in Law Enforcement or is in LE will understand this concept immensely. That is how confessions are obtained many times.

I just don't know really. I think this game is a gold mine but they are just so short sighted sometimes.

Put aside an afternoon on a tuesday and wednesday. Check out EVERY level 50 recipe/enhancement. When you find one with a decent gap in the two prices...buy a couple recipes. Craft em. Sell em at the weekend.

    You should make a profit.

Start doing this in bulk. Start doing this with multiple items.

    You should make more profit.

Putting aside an afternoon to check out the pricing differentials in the market is the best way to make money in this game.
Just started doing this as well.

Oddly enough how it all works out. I just placed those bids on the IOs I needed and waited, eventually I picked them up. I ran AE missions for the salvage and placed it in my vault in the meantime. Within days of posting I pretty much picked up every positron IO needed.

I did learn one lesson and not posting things so fast at what the prices are at atm. I didn't know the going price for a crafted IO and I made and listed 10 for the listed price. Sadly within days I discovered that price I had seen was an inflated price. I left it on the market for about a week with nothing selling and the prices not rising even close to what I seen the day I posted them.

End result I took them down and posted them for around the price I've been seeing for the past week. Lesson learned know the real going rate before posting a bid.

Don't get me wrong still not making big money, but its slowly coming in, better then nothing I guess
  23. Everyone is gonna be wishing they had a wind turbine and solar panels in their backyards when the Zombie Apocalypse comes. Along with a bunch of guns bows and arrows and will be wishing they looked at You tube on how to skin a possum with a flint stone. I did and I'm a better man for it. I also made a slingbow.

Sadly, I have no life and look at too much You tube I think.

You know come to think about it skinning a cat is pretty much like skinning a possum I think. I'm probably gonna find more cats in NYC then Possum anyways.

    LOL, good one.
  25. I believe they lowered the INF cost so its 20 million and 50 Merits for one Hero/Villain Merit. Not that it has any bearing on what your getting out but 20 million is much easier to get then 50 million.
