I wanted to take some time out really quickly and thank some of the people who have helped and/or teamed with me lately:
Cobalt - Thank you for holding a raid spot for me last night. Not your job; but I see you do stuff like that all the time and it rarely gets recognized.
Silas - Thank you for answering my many, many corruptor questions since Rogue; and for some fun TFs this week. Now, for $500, can you tell me if The Hollows is a hazard zone? ; )
Ebon Monarch - Thank you for holding a GM hunting spot for me this week. And while I'm at it; that whole team happily waited 5 minutes for me to arrive - very cool of all of them.
Ocho - Thank you for letting me bother you with all my email questions.
White Hot Flash - Thank you for SK-ing me so I could collect all the badges I was missing redside this week.
Skolia (I believe) - Thank you for helping get my Fort the spelunker badge for his accolade. Very appreciated.
----------
It just feels like every time I turned around this week somebody was being extra nice and helpful.
I just wanted to say thank you.

Still looking for one myself...

Are there any default settings that everybody changes that I should be aware of?
I have purchased 2 headsets to use on Vent and have had horrible luck with both; just never seems to pick up me talking - and if it does, it's way too loud.
Getting flustered...any advice is appreciated.

Quote:Just to clarify: My irony comment was supposed to be a joke. For Post 2, I see this more as "After I've given you the answer several times in a row, given you the source of the information so that you could find it yourself, don't keep asking me."
(Just to clarify, I'm not referring to questions that warrant discussion or explanation. I'm talking about questions that could be answered with a few clicks of your mouse.)
There are quite a few questions I answer in game from memory, but for a lot of others, I resort to the Wiki, or Mids, or any of the numerous CoH related references available to players. There's no magic behind it. I'm just opening up my bookmarks, clicking on Titan Network, and finding the answer. I can't help but think as I'm doing this, that the person who asked the question could also be doing this. Which leads me to this point:
Not that you necessarily implied this Star Fire, but your choice of words is interesting. Some players likely perceive that finding the answer takes a lot of 'time and research' and feel it is faster to just ask someone. In most cases, it doesn't, as illustrated by my example above.
So, yes, I absolutely am willing to answer questions for new players, or even vet players. I also try whenever possible to direct them to a place they can find the answers in the future as well.
That's why I made sure to say:
"Now, I know Force to be a decent player from what I've seen of him. I think he's only speaking to those who ask the same questions repeatedly (not to speak for you, sorry). "
I feel that is fairly close to your interpertation: "After I've given you the answer several times in a row, given you the source of the information so that you could find it yourself, don't keep asking me."
So I think we both recognize the intended meaning and understand his reply was not meant mean-spirited. And it was *never* about putting Force down; as I indicated, I have nothing but respect for him in my gaming experience with him.
Only saying that some questions aren't so readily google'd; and extremes make for dangerous judgment tools. Perhaps that may have been the better way to have phrased it on my part.
I know you weren't coming after me or anything; I just wanted to explain so I made sure not to offend.

Quote:Exactly. I also enjoy the irony of the successive posts a couple replies back:Geez Force
I bet you want me to open my own jars, fill my own gas tank, look up words I can't spell and find my own keys too!
My new pet peeve: People who start up TF's and don't say what level range it is! HmmPh! You KNOW someone is going to ask?! Just say "Synapse Level " uh um ...Hey Force what level is Synapse?
Its all perspective.
Post 1: Ask questions, we are here to help.
Post 2: Don't ask a question you can figure out; we're not really here to help.
Now, I know Force to be a decent player from what I've seen of him. I think he's only speaking to those who ask the same questions repeatedly (not to speak for you, sorry).
But if I had to limit my questions to things I couldn't figure out with time and research.......I would never be able to ask another question again. ; )
However, if I was always having to answer the same questions for the same people; I could see that easily becoming frustrating.
So, I guess a good way to phrase that pet peeve is : Absolutes

I don't know if this was this issue; but I updated my drivers and it worked fine after the restart.
Seems odd that this would be the case, as it worked just fine this morning, but I'm online - so I really don't care.
Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the replies.
I tried restarting the computer twice; I also tried closing and reloading a couple times, too.
But I'll try it a few more times if you think that might help.
Here goes nothing...

It keeps "Connecting... #39" but never gets to the splash page and logon.
My intrawebz is working fine everywhere else; is this just due to heavy server population right now, or do I need to fix/change something?
Never had that happen before...

(As Gene Wilder)
If you want to play without compromise,
just select a Corr and queue it.
Anything you want, they do it.
If they want to change the world,
there's nothing to it.
There is no, AT I know;
to compare with Corruptor decimation.
Playing them, you'll be LEET,
if you truly wish...to be.
(Sorry.......best I could do in 30 seconds) ; )

My splash is an older version and the resolution and screen placement has been changed.
I'm curious why you have a "Rogue" splash if no one else does, though.
Chosen one ftw?

Everyone has covered the reply well enough.
I will only add that I think you'll be surprised to find a lot of the same names you remember from years ago still hanging around.

And a day after posting about the MTs I had my first 1 in quite a while on BMT.
Karma ftw.
