Quote:That's probably a very good thing. Considering how that show dragged out its mysteries and how many of them it left unresolved, or vaugely resolved, I think you would've really disliked it.It's funny that someone took the "bait" of my indirect Lost reference. I suppose I can now shock you by admitting that I never bothered to watch even a single episode of that show.

What if THIS is how the zombie apocalypse starts?

I was afk to get my cat some fresh water. Came back to a Mapserver Disconnect message, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Quote:I wonder if it isn't just a matter of the writers not worrying about it because they don't think the viewers will put that much thought into it.I think we are being forced to accept something along these lines. It just seems like their "slow on the uptake"-ness is a wee-bit too artificial and contrived to be plausible. Just how in the dark were ALL of these people to begin with? As I said before Rick had the excuse of being in a coma - what's everyone else's excuse for not having a clue?
And when it comes to average viewers, they're probably right. I know my sister likes the show, but if I tried to have a conversation with her about the pathology of the zombie virus, her eyes would glaze over quicker than a freshly dead walker. -
I always have to laugh when I hear an arguement like this.
"Yeah, the tablecloths in that restaurant are torn and stained, but where does it say that a resaurant must use tablecloths?"
"Sure the towels they use to dry your vehicle at that car wash scratch the finish, but where does it say that a car wash must dry your car?"
It doesn't say anywhere that an mmo company must provide an official forum, but when an mmo company chooses to provide an official forum, they should make sure it isn't buggy enough to make their paying customers stop using it. -
Pretty sure Rick plugged both of them in the skull. The guy behind the bar he shot right between the eyes, the fat guy he shot in the chest and when he went down, Rick shot him a second time in the head.

So... what exactly do you think it was we were seeing with those little flashes as Shane was lying there on the ground? Were those his "dying thoughts" or were they images flashing through his mind as the virus reactivated certain synapses in his brain like Jenner's MRI showed? And if they were the latter, what does that mean? Do the zombies posses some sort of rudimentary hive mind?

Quote:Tyrese might not have been surprised, I don't recall exactly, but apparently Rick was, because it was after that when Rick went back to dig up Shane's body and shoot him in the head. So either no one knew, or they just didn't bother to mention it to Rick.*** Standard comicbook spolier warning ***
I think you're right that the first time we (the readers of the comicbook) see a person "pop" back up as a zombie like that was Tyreese's daughter.
But when that happened there was no shock about it - Tyreese just "handled" it like he knew it was going to happen. In fact the whole way Tyreese's daughter and boyfriend were planning on committing suicide was to take that into account and make sure that each of them -couldn't- come back as zombies.
I'm reasonably sure that the comicbook used Rick's encounter with Morgan and Duane Jones right after he woke up from his coma as the opportunity to educate Rick (as well as the comicbook reader) about how the zombies worked in this world. There was never any "shock" or "mystery" about it, and that's likely why the comicbook didn't need a trip to the CDC to have a Dr. Jenner whisper to Rick about it either.
As for Carl, I guess all the adults were just hiding in the basement waiting for Rick, et al, to come back from looking for Randall? It's one thing to suspend disbelief that with a possible attack from outsiders coming at any minute, Lori wouldn't have kept Carl right beside her the whole time, but for none of them to even be guarding the doors, or looking out the windows to see him leaving the house...? -
Yes, and for whoever was bagging on Kaley Cuoco in another thread recently, I think she has been looking a lot better recently with the darker, curlier hair.

So... what do you think Sheldon's character's name is...?
Sheldor-Man?
Doctor Sheldor?
The Mighty Sheldor?
Sheldorine? -

I was RPing recently when another character sent my character a text on her cellphone. As a result we began texting back and forth and I realized that it would be really cool if this game had a /e texting emote.
We already have a cellphone emote, but actually talking on your cellphone is so 2005. -
Is there any way to turn this feature off after you have earned it? I can't ever get the title to the same bluish color of the character's name and badge title, and even as close as I can get it, it stays that color when I join a team. Yuck. How do I make it go away?
-
I will admit to being tempted to quit some TFs recently. I have taken to running blueside TFs with my rogue, and most teams have been understanding of the fact that if I have to travel from PI to any zone besides Talos, or even if it's a Board the Transit mission, it's going to take me a while because I can't take any shortcuts.
However, I have had one or two teams stealth and complete multiple missions while I was still traveling. To me, that's a crappy move. -

I would proudly display the Cloudcity desklamp (if it was detailed enough) and the Jabba beanbag would be my guilty pleasure hidden away for lounging in (lol).
When I think of the utter rubbish Lucas has greenlit in the past it beggers belief why these genius ideas where not seen through to fruition. I can only guess there were economic or technical problems with bringing them to mass market. -
Quote:No, it's cowboys. Your mind was mistaken.I actually made the title of the thread with the song "Where have all the flowers gone?"(I think it was flowers) in mind.
But to answer your original question...

I remember one time on the original Positron TF I joined a team of eight to run it. After about four missions, two of the players either thought it was too hard, or decided to do something else, or... I don't know. Anyway, they quit, but the other six of us soldiered on.
It was going really slowly with a lot of deaths and a few team wipes, as the original Posi TF was apt to do, well, I guess two more players had had enough about an hour and a half into it and they quit. Some of these players made excuses and some didn't, but now we were down to four.
We discussed giving up, but decided not to. At least three of us did because 15 minutes later the fifth player quit. Oddly enough, that seemed to be some sort of tipping point because from then on, the missions went much more quickly and smoothly with fewer deaths and no complete wipes.
Anyway, my point is, it depends on who is quiting the TF - if it's a somebody who doesn't know what they are doing, or is just a bad player, having them quit can actually speed up the TF for everyone else! -
Quote:What if they applied this same logic to getting the Dimensional Warder badge? "Only the mission holder will receive badge credit for any Praetorian AV/EB defeated."I do not have, and never will have, any sympathy at all for people who gripe because an obvious exploit is fixed. I don't care how much of what you think is a "slog" that it lets you bypass.
It's like everything else in the game. You want access to the reward? Then quitchyerbellyachin' and do the mission.
I didn't know there was an "abandon the mission" exploit (I guess because I never used it) but it seems like they could have found a way to fix that and let people get the badge without requiring a character to run the entire arc. But oh well. -

Quote:The last few years have actually seen a number of cool/kitschy Star Wars items. In addition to the Taun-Taun sleeping bag, there was a Space Slug oven mitt, an astromech droid pepper grinder (I am ashamed to admit I can't remember which astromech, but it was the black one - RQ-M5, maybe?), and a Jawa Garden Gnome.Let's not forget the Tauntaun sleeping bag, with special intestines-patterned lining, the joke product so ridiculous that it generated enough demand for its actual manufacture.
I was wondering why they would reject a lightsaber flashlight when they made a light saber universal remote control (of which I also own one). -
Regarding the issue of zombie degredation - I know point was made in the comic that it was safer for the humans in the winter because the cold air slowed down, or perhaps in some cases even froze the zombies solid. Still, they seemed to survive that when spring came.
Another thing that came to mind was the issue I think that was mentioned here about how easy it seems to be to stab through their skulls to kill them, and I knod of came up with a personal justification for that: osteoporosis. The zombies aren't drinking enough milk, so their bones are getting brittle! -
Quote:I'm gonna vote for this too. I remember discovering this little game on my Illusion controller a couple of weeks into playing the game. I forget the dynamics exactly, but I think I would confuse a Vazh Mortificationer who would then attack a Vazh Cadaver. Then, after he "killed" the Cavader, the Mortificationer would ressurect it. I think he might have resumed attacking it, but it's been a few years, so I'm not sure.I'm still with the confuse/deceive powers. Watching Vaz blow up their fellows, watching Tsoo Sorcerers heal your party, watching trolls set off their own barrels of explosives just never gets old.
It's also a nice power to use to turn NPC healers, or bubblers, or even Sappers to your side. The problem is so many people are attuned to taking these characters out first, you rarely get much benefit out of confusing them. -
I don't know how feasible it would be, trademark-wise, but if this set were to come with a costume change emote, I think the obvious choice would be a "Transporter" effect complete with whiney transporter sound.
