holy FRAK! stay away from the forums for a couple days and come back to this! this is friggin awsome Arch!

I love your take on WP and his look! a very hearty thank you for this great piece of work! really...I am very much appreciative of the work you put in here... very very cool.

one very happy forum foul here.

...oh, and to answer the wings question. indeed, the wings of WP are a psychic manifestation. as such, they are not "real" wings per-say...but merely a projection put forth by his subconscious to rationalize to his conscious mind why he can fly. heh

Animation <O.@>

Hmm... >.< thanks all. I'm still looking. My search-fu is kinda weak <;_;> Derek, Gif Animator's website was busted when I tried - I'll try again later though, it may work >.<b Hopefully this pans out <,< I've done 5 frames so far, I'm *guessing* it'll be 10 when its done <'x'> no way to know though I guess. Hope I'm doing this right <,<

Animation <O.@>

Ok >.> so... in a fit of insanity I decided I want to create a traditional 2d animation using a pencil, paper, my scanner and computer.

So - I can do the drawing part easily enough. I can scan everything simply enough.

Here's the question: What kind of program would I use to stick several frames together to form an animation? >.>; And does anyone know of any such program that is free or real cheap? >.>;

(>.> This is all Scarf_Girl's new avatar's fault lol <;_;&gt

"Moral Combat"

[ QUOTE ]
Can the company sue if the video wasn't used for profit?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think a lawsuit - even if possible, is the right response.

I think its fine that they spout their nonsense for this reason: The number of morons who actually believe this stuff is significantly smaller than the number of us who actually are both responsible citizen and gamer.

Keith Olbermann said, in responding to Newt Gingrich's assertion a couple months back that "Perhaps we should limit free speech" -

His response is summed up well as:

An idea that cannot survive in the marketplace of ideas will be consigned to the dustbin on its own. We must battle bad ideas with good ideas, rather than putting a lid on bad ideas - because to crack down on a bad idea is to give it legitimacy. To discredit it, is to destroy it.

So a lawsuit, however much fun it may well be to see these folks cringe... is less worthy than being able to conclusively prove that gamers are responsible for no more murders than anyone else and thus it can't be games that cause violence.

(And of course - people regularly forget that other countries sometimes have far more violent games/movies than we do here in the US commonly (I'm lookin at you Japan...) yet... Japan has an extremely low crime rate. It's gone up slightly as the economy has fluxed some - but still, remarkably low all things considered)

I wouldn't even go that far... you can identify with said music - the question is; are you *trying* to make people say "poor you"?

[/ QUOTE ]

On many levels, yes, yes they are. Watch their forum type behaviors and blogs. It's true.

[ QUOTE ]

The music can be quite cathartic in a rough spot so long as you let it bleed the negative off of you, rather than building it up. <x_x>

[/ QUOTE ]

That's definitely true. Maybe it was easier when I was that age (GET OFF MY LAWN) because all we had was metal, middle of the road, electronic and 'r&b'. Judas Priest made me realize that I didn't have to hate MYSELF.

I could hate *Everything Else*.

It's pretty sick they did this. Sorry the trailer should have been showing horrible parenting, resulting in kids doing bad things.

[/ QUOTE ]

I swear to God, if I had the means, this is exactly what I'd film and post on YouTube.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's true; There's alot of people out there so so willing to blame anyone but themselves; but when you ask them "Well, what do you do when your kids do act up?" and they respond "I beat the [censored] out of them with a belt" - yeah... not teaching ANYTHING about violence being a problem solving tool. (Note - there is a difference from a normal spanking and the kind of thing I speak of)

Also - around here at least, I've seen people literally *throw* their children when they behave poorly in the store. How exactly is that going to teach them anything positive? Pain hurts?

But most of all, the thing that breeds violence in my opinion - is hopelessness. I don't mean 'emo' hopeless, where you just feign hopelessness because you want people to feel sorry for you - I mean genuine honest to goodness 'there is nothing in the world for me' hopeless. It exists, and is far too common. The way our world works breeds it - as it is far too easy to get stuck in a cycle of not having enough money to even keep the bills paid and food on the table while still working your [censored] off.

Oh, and then people call you "pathetic" or "lazy" because you can't afford food despite working.

How often have we heard about people walking into a school or office and shooting the crap out of everything, then themselves? Would a person who really has a reason to live do that? Maybe a scant few who are genuinely crazy. But I don't think people who have a reason to believe life can get better will do anything so insane.

Videogames are so far from the source of the problem it's like looking for penguins in Illinois.
21. [ QUOTE ]
It's that they identify with the music that makes them emo, not just that they listen to it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't even go that far... you can identify with said music - the question is; are you *trying* to make people say "poor you"?

I listened to alot of Linkin Park and Greenday, Staind too, often during some of my hardest times... identifying with the music really does help.

The question is: What do you do with it?

If you just decide "I'm going to spend all my time trying to make people feel sorry for me" - that's "emo" in the negative sense.

If you decide "Ok, things have gone poorly, I'm depressed out of my skull... but I'm still here and I'm still trying" - that's something else.

The music can be quite cathartic in a rough spot so long as you let it bleed the negative off of you, rather than building it up. <x_x>
