It seems that we are pretty much in agreement about the whole argument in general. I have no real qualms with your opinion on anything you've responded with.
For the mere sake of further dialogue on the subject, though, there are a few things I would like to say in response:
Quote:agreed, machines do great things. But I have yet to see one write a great story.
there are programs out there that can do some amazing things. I've seen them first hand,
e.g., Virtue -
MS raid is cake. I'm a noob and i've randomly formed n led a few times.
I'll try to be on during that time, depends on what i'm doing (might have family in town then). If i can make it, I'll bring dark/dark fender. Howling Twilight is always useful on a raid.
heard a rumor that a bunch o dorks *coughleotamakimyliacough* led a 7 man raid recently. Where's that pic? -

didn't we have something like this before on friday nights?
none of my toons are decked out for pvp,but i'll join for lolz if i'm on that time. -

Quote:shinyCatharctic, you've ameliorated this thread with a bailiwick until it is no longer concomitant or diffident. I can't express with enough equanimity the fulsome, garrulous way you post your histrionics all over the impecunious jejune. Your limpid misandry is a nascent obeisance to us all. You have proselytized this forum with your quisling rectitude, and I will not sanguine any longer. That is why I am timorously and ubiquitously vituperating our wheedle. You sir, suffer from xenophobia, and are a zeitgeist!

Quote:i say trust fulmens. the dude is def not hurtin for cash and i'm certain he has a stash of IOs in his base worth 5 times a billion's worth of sets.I can help. Lotta people around here can vouch for me. What server, when do you play?
Not to mention the billions in inf he's destroyed for the sake of destroying it. LOL. Thanks again for the prestige, fulmens! -

Quote:That's the point of hiring an editor. Spell check does not equal good writing. To answer your question, no.. primarily because if its that great of an arc/story that I need to pay an editor for, chances are I'm going to at least know how to import my arc file into any text editor worth their salt and spell check it at the least.. and if I'm that lazy? Who's to say my story is any good?
There is no such thing as a text editor that can generate good writing. That's like trying to make a machine that can paint good paintings. Writing is an Art, and good writing plays on a variety complex meanings drawn from culture, philosophy, and the aesthetics of a time. The utilization of text to express ideas in a way that is not only meaningful but profoundly elegant is an art that very few can master.
There are plenty of people ingame who enjoy reading good storylines in an arc (be it either in MA or in the usual game content) as they run through the content. They, in fact, do pay for the writing.
IMO, the OP was not looking to make a career in offering his/her services in exchange for renumeration. They did say in exhange for IOs, Inf, and other ingame items in addition to actual money. In the same way the game rewards to people for their time spent on missions with inf, merits, and drops, the OP could offer editing services in exchange for likewise rewards.
Also, having a professional editor helping other community members generate higher quality content will benefit the community as a whole. -
Quote:There's such a shortage of lvl30 recipes in the market, I think it would be lucrative to farm at that lvl. Haven't decided yet what exactly to farm (I usually blow through tfs until my toon hits 50).Out of pure curisity, why a perma lvl 30? What's at that level range your wanting to farm? Just wondering...
doesn't matter to me 30-33. Sounds like a good suggestion.
Yeah, I forgot you don't get shield charge until higher lvls. I'm thinking either spines or regen now. -
I've been thinking about making a toon to play/farm exclusively at lvl30. What would be the best AT to go with? My thought is maybe a fire/shield scrapper.
-
I would be willing to provide this service also. I have worked in various capacities in the field of written technical communications and currently teach writing classes.
Of course, this would not be for actual money. Rather, I'd be willing to help out in exchange for some other service or ingame commodities. -
I sold around 50 generic IOs that were a tossed salad of acc, heal, end mod, and end redux that we lvls 25-30.
Four lvl30 accs I sold for over 5 mil apiece (i think someone mistyped)
Crafted 16 thunderstrikes and sold over half of them
took profits and bought numinias (kept) and positrons (sold)
total profit: approx 80 mil -
Quote:Much as I like you and your guide, I have to agree with PC guy on this one sayaki. There are many a time I've gone into RV for farming and found nothing but him bored out of his mind along with our favorite afk farmer shrak.
Now now, be nice. I know casual PvP. And although I know many players who've moved toons to virtue and freedom for larger communities, I know many others who haven't. I do not know everyone, and I dun think anyone in the game really does. I simply think that if you go on a deliberate search, you'll find those communities do exist, especially as I do see them regularly around.
I think if you have the resources (base/storage) to pool and store crafted purples, it will probably pay off in the long run. Our mutual friend, prob the one who said the quotation in your sig, often gives me this advice.
I, however, don't have the patience to wait to purple out a toon. In the time I've been playing, I've had maybe 6 purple recipes drop of various types. Using those drops along with LOTGs, i've managed to put together the cash to buy several sets of purples for different toons.
In the end, I think it just boils down to what you said: personal preference.
