Oh, wait, you did chance the Power of the Phoenix. Can't tell any other changes.

    1) Still worried about End.
    2) I think you'll be happy with this change.
    3) I'd still want something for Acc in HE.
    4) Still see no reason nt to put the Glad Armour in Thaw, and save yourself End consumption on Tough and pick up a (granted, very) minor amount of S/L Res, and the cost of someone you thaw losing 2% Cold resistance. I can't see the %2 Cold Res making any difference ever, even if you did take the time to apply it to teammates, which I doubt you will. Frankly, you'll have better things to do with your time that Drop Thaw on your allies proactively for a measly +2% Res vs Cold over the base slotting.
    5) Again, don't see why there is any reason not to make this change.

But, all that said, it's your build...
Oh,sorry, I should have described the changes.

I pulled 4 slots off forge and swapped in a thunderstrike on shriek. This lowers my recharge a good bit (I could afford it, this toon is recharge heavy) which slows my end burn a smidgeon.

More importantly, I am softcapped to S/L/E now, which on iTrials, pleases me mightily. With afterburner and the added stealth IO, I now have a reasonable 'sneaker' capacity, which pleases me. iCap + a bit of stealth, should work okay.

I also popped in a Kismet to address accuracy concerns. I'm well over 100 percent against +4's now, and if I'm concerned, I'll pop yellows.

As for the glad proc, and the lyso I'll confess, I just forgot to fix them. Dopey me!

For the record: I have been using thaw quite a bit. It's a clear mind analog, and so is VERY useful for STF runs against ghost widow, to toss on other squishies in mezz-heavy groups, etc. I've always been a big fan of thaw, that's why I'm probably gonna leave it early in the build whenever I re-order this sucker.

Anyway, I fixed the glad oopsie, here's the build again:

    Thanks much!
    Mechanical difference....

Warmace: Clobber is much, MUCH, better than any other attack any of the sets get. Crowd Control is a huge cone that does slightly less damage than pendulum, but has a target cap twice as high.

Broadsword: It has parry. That's the only place where it's better.

Battle axe: It does not do stuns, which some people dislike for the 'wander away' mechanic.

I have multiple toons with bs, ax, and mace, all at 50. Mace is noticeably better, and I even skipped clobber to avoid the stun.

    (sigh) I should re-roll my bs/sd as a wm/sd, it would be...epic.

Mechanically speaking, it's warmace, every time.

  5. Ok, my sd/bs scrapper is done, or close enough. (And wow, did that turn out well!)

    So, next project.

I've got this little wasp up to level 39. Seeing no further feedback, I'll be re-ordering and tinkering this build in the next day or so, and we'll get this toon ready to roll.

    (sigh)

I did not ask about the cleartray.

Amazingly enough, /cleartray does not address this issue in the slightest, nor does it make it any better that I have to hand-pick and place every damn power I wish to have any interactive control over.

    PRIMARY POWERS IN TRAY ONE.
    SECONDARY POWERS IN TRAY TWO.
    POOLS IN TRAY THREE.

Any leftovers, ehn, I'm not asking for perfection, here.

Why would anyone ever pay the dev's for the privilege of using this current system? It's literally punishment to re-engineer a toon.

To make this clearer: Does the Dev team dislike making money? So why does this system, which is a money maker and has been a money maker LONG before freedom was implemented, NOT WORK WELL?
  7. Another issue:

AFTER you've finally tweezed and teased everything back into the proper, exacting order, you go back into the game....

And find tray after tray clogged full of temp powers, and vanity pets, and crap from missions you did FIVE YEARS AGO.

    FOR GOD'S SAKE.

How damn hard would it be to put the powers from your PRIMARY into TRAY ONE. Really.

Powers from your SECONDARY go into tray two. Pools go into tray three.

DO NOT SLOT all the rest of that freakin' crap. If I absolutely, positively, MUST HAVE INSTANT ACCESS to the freakin' MVAS before my gaming experience will be complete, I will damn well go and look it up FOR MYSELF.

    (foams at mouth)

Ranged/AoE would be at something like 58.8 and 58.5 respectively.

But, ultimately, it's whatever you feel satisfied with in playing that matters.
Oh, no worries, I finished this fella (or close to it) this afternoon, and oh my goodness, what a beast.

    Pleased, I am.
  9. When Praetoria was released, the Dev's introduced the 'neutral' targeting faction. IE, the 'gold reticle'.

This is a TREMENDOUS feature. It allows enormous storytelling flexibility, and is the key technology that would allow free transit to all zones.

If you are a villain going to Paragon, all those Longbow patrols, all those PPD all over the place, they are no long untargetable NPC's, they are now gold box neutrals. They aren't SURE you're up to no good, but as soon as you take a swing....they know.

Add in the 'Seers-like' ability to radio for backup (PPD BACKUP RADIO!) and this makes things much more interesting.

Honestly, I have been a bit disappointed that the Dev's have not exploited the gold reticle a bit more. It is a tremendous tool for making dynamic content, just tremendous.

For example: "Lowby" zones tend to be a bit underused. King's Row, IP, etc. It would be fairly simple to sprinkle in a fair dose of neutral-set high level badguys. They're on patrol, but they're just chillin', because this is easy detail....Until it's not. Take a swing, and they go off on you.

You could have entire neutral factions, even. Heck, all of Malta and Cage SHOULD be set to neutral on the streets, and maybe in most missions. Malta isn't going to bother with a street battle, and Cage is curious to know if you have any cash on you before they start shooting.

Carnies should be a neutral faction. The Shadows aren't fighters, they're LOVERS, they just want to have fun and party and suck in the innocent and the unwary for a little soul-searching. Punching supers in the face is not a party activity.

    Etc, etc, etc.

Granted, this would be a lot of work to implement, but it'd be cooool.
  10. I dislike doing respecs.

    I mean, really.

While that interface needs a large update in many ways, you know the best, simplest, thing you could do to make this easier?

Allow us to import Mid's builds.

Mid's already exports a nice simple text block. It should be simple enough to use that information to pick all the powers in the proper order and place the slots.

No, I would not expect to actually place the IO's as well, but simply removing that onerous phase of picking a power, flipping over to the mid's, checking the order, picking a power, ad nauseum, followed by the even more tedious 'where did this slot go?' phase, would help enormously.

And this is good business as well: People can BUY respecs. Why are you making your product, which you charge money for, difficult to use?

Other suggestions: Place entire IO sets with a single action. If I'm slotting six pieces of obliteration in 3 different powers, it can get tedious sorting out which piece goes where, and I'm always worried about placing something over top of something else and wiping it out.

Can there be a system where you can place entire sets? IE, "Slot this power with every piece of Crushing Impact which I currently have." This would make it much better in my opinion.

Lastly: Is there any way to simply make the field where the old enhancement's show up big enough to display ALL of them?

Anyway, just my thoughts, do as you will.
  11. Ok, no further feedback, I'm pullin' the trigger on version 6. The recharge loss isn't THAT much, and I like getting over 2100 hitpoints.

    (bleh, respec, bleh)

Why can't we just import a mids build into the damn game....

    Huh.

Ok, off to the suggestions area.

Edit: Here it is. I worked it to include standard Broadsword and the Scrapper ATO. It runs 59% w/ Stealth's base-bonus and Agility Core active. That leaves you plenty of choice in your Destiny (I'd suggest Rebirth Radial ).

Where were you a week ago, man?! (weeps)

    (looks)

Ok, that's a hella nice build, wow....

But I agonized over it, and I just hafta have a movement power. And stealth on a melee toon makes my teeth hurt.

But the cyto's.... Why didn't I think of those? And splitting the ATO gets moar hitpoints and defense, although it costs me ten percent recharge....

Ok, here, HERE, is the absolute final rebuild, dangit:

I am torn between version6 (above) and version5 (far above). I like reaching net +3 end per second. I like the extra melee defense for itrials. I realllly like the extra hitpoints.

I am less pleased at losing the +recharge. Hmmmm.... I still reach iCaps, but need a slightly smaller crowd to do so.

Argh, this one has been a real tough build. (ponders)

Anybody else got any ideas to toss into the mix? And angst me up even further?

    ^Good advice.

As a matter of fact, there's a thread in the scrapper forum right now about a bs/sd I'm workin' on that's gone through 5 major revisions so far, and countless minor tweaks in between times.

    Well, I wimped out.

I started the respec, and then realized my only movement power in that build was ninja run.

    Ick.

I thought about it a couple of days, and then started re-tinkering, and have finally settled upon this:

This one is absolutely the last go around.

    No, nothing.

Move the slots to health, leaving phys perfection single slotted for endurance.

Here's a build with the changes PR suggested, so you can see what he was thinking:

However, there's always room to tinker a bit, and so I did.

  17. Also:

I liked Sonic's rebuild rather a lot. I took it and, uh, threw money at it.

The end result is pleasing me greatly. It's still not something I'd play (the power order is all jacked up) but I'd be likely to settle on something close to this barring any other ideas.

Lingering Rad is -500 regen for 30 seconds on a 90 second recharge.
Heat Exhaustion is -500 regen for 40 seconds, 120 second recharge.

It takes the same level of recharge to make this debuff perma.

If you indeed are looking to "help a league (team) melt hard targets" then Heat Exhaustion is essential. It also includes a 62.5% -damage debuff which is very significant.
    Hmmm.

So what I'm hearing is, -500 regen is actually a lot. Did not know that.

See, this is why ya ask questions.

Also, how much effective +resist is -62.5 damage debuff? I play mostly melee, this debuffin' stuff is like the fourth dimension for me.

    Quote:
That Forge's damage bonus is "small" is something we'll have to disagree on. It's a 50% damage buff that has no tricks to it like Kinetic buffs (location, accuracy check). If indeed all you ever intend to do is leagues at level 50 it could get lost in the myriad buffs and be less valuable. If you intend to do regular 8 member tfs, both at level 50 and below, it becomes a very powerful buff. I view this as less essential than Heat Exhaustion, but I personally would never make a Thermal without it. YMMV.
I tend to run a lot of trials and tf's, so 8-man teams are about the the least I'd ever be looking at. Trying to keep a single-target buff on all the dps'rs in a league would be...unfun.

The to-hit bonus is nice, and I can mule it, though.....

    Hmmmm....

Question for SonicRemedy: In the build you provided above, you included an Endoplasm (Acc/Mez) HO in Melt Armor. Did you mean for that to be a Lysosome (Acc/-tohit/-def) perhaps?
    (scribbles notes)

I'm prolly gonna rebuild my bs/sd scrapper next, then this toon is high on the list.

    Any other ideas out there?
  19. Okay, nobody's throwin' fits, must be close to half-baked.

    I'll start buildin' this tonight.

This one makes my skin crawl. No Rage?
Well, tactics and rage are direct swapouts, so pop it back in if ya want. However, tactics gets you confuse and fear protection, and against lots of things in the iTrials, that's a Big Deal. Your toon, your call.

    Dropping below S/L softcap?
?? It's softcapped against S/L/E/N with one in range of invince and agility running. It's softcapped against S/L/E/N with 4 in range of invince and no agility. It's softcapped vs everything with three in range of invince and agility running. It has dramatically more defense than the OP build.

I dunno what you were lookin' at.

    Quote:
Believe it or not that build i posted is not a "concept build". To me, it is the ultimate SS/Invul. It does not try to be anything besides a SS/Invul. It hits hard, holds agro, and is rarely put down.
And you still use flight? Okay. It's your fun, man.

That said, afterburner is TEH SWEET. Flying 87mph, turning like yer on rails, and stopping like you hit a wall every time is pure awesome.

Unstoppable? = Press this, you WILL stop.
I find it to be not-so-bad these days. I have a few brutes with the triple performance shifter proc trick, and I've been surprised at how often I make it through a crash with no detoggle. As for the hitpoints and dying, I hit a barrier or a rebirth right before the crash and usually am just fine to retoggle. It's not a death sentence like it used to be.

And man, 87 percent resists are SWEET.

    Quote:
My build pauses briefly for Rage drops, and even then he can use Judgement, or a few other favorite tricks I got for my 'time outs' But it looks like I need to refigure what to do with those 2-3 slots I am using for status/psi globals. They do not add to the build at all. The Purples? Huge HP boosts, huge Global Recharge Boosts, and Huge Accuracy Boosts. All 3 things are going straight to my build goals. Expensive, but all moving in big steps in the right direction. The only thing i feel guilty about is no taunt. Those two ranged attacks from the epic? Necessary. Invaluable during Prisoners on BAF. Good on the TPN. The Laser eyes stands as a replacement for my taunt. Thanks for posting this, but it just is not for me.

I seem to be missing everyone's concepts here. Maybe i'm building my SS/Invul just completely wrong, or you guys play way different than me.
There are a 'few' pool power attacks that are competitive. LBE and Torrent are not among them, sadly. But hey, the build as presented would play just fine, the important thing is to have fun.

    INTERESTING.

I knew that red inspirations would make judgement do more damage, and that musculature would boost damage too, but this....

If all alpha boosts except recharge work on iPowers, and so do inspirations, does this mean chugging purples then popping barrier gets you more than the 5 percent 'tail-off' bonus?

That should be easy to test.... BRB.

To flip this on its head:

The game is considerably more difficult now, with the large caveat that the purple nerf no longer allows you to 'punch up to your weight.' The con system was a joke, it was 'purple or nothing.'

At release, it was not uncommon for teams (only 5 in those days) to street sweep against +8's, and I remember teams that were hunting +10's and better in brickstown.

The purple nerf and ED let the devs reign in the players, but the game was...not challenging. Since then, the devs have tinkered and retinkered difficulty many times, homing in on the '3 minions is a decent fight' metric.

    It's getting there.

I find it amusing that the devs are using the purple nerf mechanics explicitly against us in the iTrials these days. Thanks guys, that doesn't sting at all.

But i brought the guy out of retiement so I could throw the new Mecha Skins on somebody. That Mecha Rocket backpack got me doing the happy dance. I'm actually pretty happy with the build.

My main questions are whether I am wasting my enhancer slots throwing on the Globals that reduce stun. My thought was it would help in UG, but on reading more, it adds no upfront benefit, just cuts how long you are stupid faced. Any opinion on these type of Globals on a melee character?

As I see it, this is more a concept toon.

And, if you love Fly, you will ADORE afterburner.

So, I tinkered a bit. I could not quite softcap everything, but with agility I manage S/L/E/N. You have unstoppable as a panic button, the attacks are better slotted, and you have the glory of well-slotted flight with afterburner.

    Oh, so awesome.....

Agility is almost a must, ageless will also be a huge boon, and the hybrid melee front-loaded regen will make this toon utterly immortal, concept build or not.

    See what ya think:

  24. Hmmm...

    Some good thinking here....

I went and tinkered a bit, here's what I have come up with.

The idea is to use rebirth and hybrid melee for the regen boosts, to replace aid self.

With Parry and Phalanx, this has defense to burn vs all, and while recharge is not great, it seems ok. I have conserve power if the old blue bar is whinin.... With Grant Cover and Maneuvers, I provide a hefty buff to the league as well.

    Nice, well-rounded....

We may have a winner, here.

    See what folks think!

Specifically, resist energies has the end drain and recovery debuff resistance. (That was when Invuln went from 'a plateful of sux' to 'second best at everything'.)

He complains about the psionic damage, but I've never seen it, y'know, actually hurt him. He uses Barrier for the defense debuffs, but doesn't really have a counter for the endurance drains.
Invuln has 50 percent DDR if you take the passives, and he's still getting cascaded? Odd.... Maybe rebuild for iCap?
