Well, I have been rebuilding some toons lately, and have moved my old bs/sd to the top of the shortlist.

Why?

CHAINMAIL.

Anyway, the time has come to finally dust this sucker off.

I was incredibly pleased with how my fire/sd turned out.

Issues:


I dislike the medicine pool, and would like to get iCap versus all.

Leadership pool would be a nice addition, and I want Grant Cover.

But every time I start tinkering on this, I wind up breaking something.


Does anyone have any thoughts?

Not a huge fan of the Leadership pool, myself. The cost isn't really worth the reward on melee toons, IMO. I definitely would recommend running Grant Cover for the DDR alone.

Umm... looking at your build, I don't really see too much that I'd change other than power choices. I'm with you on the medicine pool, so that's definitely something I'd avoid, myself. Also not a huge fan of One with the Shield, but if you don't mind it, I think it should stay in the build. Other than those, I agree with the rest of your powers.

Slotting-wise, I'd put a bit more defense slotting in your toggles and drop some of the slots from Parry (when I had it on my build, I frankenslotted it for accuracy and defense).

Other than that, I think it's a pretty solid build. It definitely looks like it blows my BS/SD scrapper out of the water lol (I just focused on getting the regular defense softcap and moved on from there).

Sorry if this isn't exactly the help you were looking for.

You can replace aid self with laser beam eyes (slotting thunderstrike) to maintain the same level of ranged defense via set bonus. The numina unique would likely be put into true grit replacing the heal/recharge slot. Grant cover can then go into the space vacated by stimulant. That should take care of some of your concerns.

Getting closer to the iSoftcap, barrier core should give you an additional 5% base (not seeing a destiny slot listed).

Unfortunately I'm not by my computer so I can't brainstorm any further. Very curious to see where this thread will go. Good luck!

Hmmm...

Some good thinking here....

I went and tinkered a bit, here's what I have come up with.

The idea is to use rebirth and hybrid melee for the regen boosts, to replace aid self.

With Parry and Phalanx, this has defense to burn vs all, and while recharge is not great, it seems ok. I have conserve power if the old blue bar is whinin.... With Grant Cover and Maneuvers, I provide a hefty buff to the league as well.

Nice, well-rounded....

We may have a winner, here.

I started the respec, and then realized my only movement power in that build was ninja run.

Edit: Here it is. I worked it to include standard Broadsword and the Scrapper ATO. It runs 59% w/ Stealth's base-bonus and Agility Core active. That leaves you plenty of choice in your Destiny (I'd suggest Rebirth Radial ).

Ok, that's a hella nice build, wow....

But I agonized over it, and I just hafta have a movement power. And stealth on a melee toon makes my teeth hurt.

But the cyto's.... Why didn't I think of those? And splitting the ATO gets moar hitpoints and defense, although it costs me ten percent recharge....

I am torn between version6 (above) and version5 (far above). I like reaching net +3 end per second. I like the extra melee defense for itrials. I realllly like the extra hitpoints.

I am less pleased at losing the +recharge. Hmmmm.... I still reach iCaps, but need a slightly smaller crowd to do so.

Argh, this one has been a real tough build. (ponders)

Anybody else got any ideas to toss into the mix? And angst me up even further?

Ok, no further feedback, I'm pullin' the trigger on version 6. The recharge loss isn't THAT much, and I like getting over 2100 hitpoints.

Why can't we just import a mids build into the damn game....

Yeah, I don't think it's going to happen, but I'd love to see them officially support Mids', and allow for some sort of import.

Was going to make a break-down analysis of the two builds, but I didn't feel like splitting hairs. If the only thing you wanted was an official travel powers: Take out OwtS, add Super Jump, move the level 50 slot out of CJ and move it to Tough to replace the 3%Def and the build would still be pretty close to 59% on all three positions. Ranged/AoE would be at something like 58.8 and 58.5 respectively.

But, ultimately, it's whatever you feel satisfied with in playing that matters.
