I would just pitch in that although the defense bonus in stealth doesn't seem significant, it is far from useless for softcapped builds. In several builds I've made, it saved me from ever having to consider the mythical gladiators armor +3% def.
I would agree that the speed debuff sucks, but removing it would make the power essentially a clone of cloaking device from Devices. My S/L capped DP/Dev blaster went devices largely for the nonslowing stealth power, and it would make me very sadface if Stealth suddenly became identical. It would've been MM without a doubt otherwise. If the speed debuff was removed from Stealth, a compensatory buff should be introduced to cloaking device IMHO. -
I'm sure this has been done before, and probably done much prettier, but I thought I'd share this bizarre build that seems to have capped S/L/Ranged/Energy, and almost capped neg energy. Of course the build has holes in it, but what build doesn't? Just avoid those fire farms and you'll be fine

Targeting Drone - Once a defining power of the set, the Drone now languishes behind. As has been mentioned, the Leadership power Tactics can be just as effective, and buff your teammates at the same time. Alas, there aren't many ways this could be improved without breaking its theme. First (and primarily) the bonus damage it applies to the Sniper Rifle should be extended to all Sniper attacks. Second, perhaps ******a general boost to range would be a nice bonus*********? A 20% increase to the effective range of all the character's attacks? If nothing else, it would be something different that Targeting Drone could offer that Tactics could not.
These are just my opinions, of course... -
Just found one, and saw that they're going for more than I expected at WW...I certainly can see they're gems for PvP, but has anyone gotten any benefit as a squishy in PvE?

I can certainly see the arguments for wanting to spec for ranged defense, but isn't it exceedingly difficult if not impossible to soft cap or almost soft cap any positional defense with a blaster?
I picked S/L defense as they can be soft capped without sacrificing too much on the offense/recovery side of things, by taking advantage of the only real consistent Defense-oriented of the blaster EPPs--Frozen Armor. Also, most of the things I tend to run such as the ITF or Freak AE missions are very S/L heavy. With regards to Mez, well, I guess I've always found it to be a blaster's kryptonite, but that's why I took Acrobatics to at least lessen the chances of hold and knockback.
As a DP blaster who greatly enjoys using Hail of Bullets, and with the vast vast majority of melee attacks having a S/L component, S/L defense seems to provide the most bang for the buck. In groups, I also find that defenders almost invariably hang out close to the tanks and scrappers, so if I want in on the buffs (especially those tasty Kin buffs like FS) then I need to stay pretty close to melee range.
If there's a build out there with nearly soft-capped positional defense while yielding good offense/sustainability of dps, please post it! I'd love to see it, and even use it. -
I figured I'd post my planned build just to share the love, and also garner advice from experienced soft-cappers. This would be the first build that I actually attempted to do that, so I'm sure by no means is it perfect. I also intended for this build to be semi-affordable, as I only have so much time to play in a day. My one disclaimer for "semi-affordable" is that I actually managed to purchase a Panacea proc with a character that's been around for quite a while.

Makes sense if you have a lot of click powers which you want up as often as possible.It depends on how much the powersets need it. On my ice tank, the primary has multiple click powers and I want Footstomp up a lot so he can use +recharge. On my willpower tank, the primary doesn't benefit.
My fire/thermal corr has a boatload of click powers and I slotted for a lot of +recharge. My earth/rad troller has perma Hasten, which means the entire team has perma AM - a pretty big benefit.
The second scenario also makes lots of sense--I certainly used as many LotG's as possible for my Mids perma-hasten builds. The one scenario I fantasize about now and then is getting a perma-Dom going...sounds insanely fun, but my highest level villain is 20 XD -
This question came up when I rolled a bunch of reward rolls on my 33 tanker and got two of them--I made them, but before using them, I decided my attack chain was already pretty smooth, and maybe they would be better used elsewhere. My 50 arch/energy blaster gets excellent mileage out of her LotG recharges and various +recharge set bonuses--rain of arrows is up every ~30 secs, and buildup/aim every 33 secs or so. Maybe not so necessary for my tanker, although +recharge for anyone certainly doesn't hurt.
Anybody have any specific feelings as to when to slot the LotG beauties? Heavy damage dealers, pet controllers, or anywhere?
