I like where you're going with this... I'll try it out tonight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had to re-publish after changing a few things, so try it under the new Arc ID, 51120.

This is a nicely clever mission. I really like the idea you've got going, and Horatio's dialogue is perfect. The only problem I ran into was that I just couldn't complete it; I cleared the entire warehouse, but I apparently still hadn't defeated everything. It looked like something odd with the ambushes. Check all the triggers on those, and make sure they're working properly, or you may have to take them out (I hope not, as I see what you were trying to do). Otherwise, I loved. It was just the right length to keep the joke funny.

I've fixed the mission to allow completion, and tweaked the spawn sizes and map size. The new Arc ID is 51120.

    Thanks for the feedback!
  3. It's my first time, so be gentle...

    Arc Name: Bananas About Hamlet
    Arc ID: 48619
    Faction: Heroic
    Creator Global: @Scalpel
    Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate
Synopsis: This is my first attempt at mission creation, so I tried for a short, amusing story about the Rikti attempt to use a bunch of monkeys to write a great work of literature. It's a short, single mission, with a boss fight at the end.
Estimated time to play: 5-15 minutes

I'd love feedback on how to improve the mission, and make it more interesting or more funny. Let me know what you think in-game, and I'll do my best to revise and improve it.

Are those all in the same group? I suggest splitting the custom characters in their own group. If they're all together, the group will be a 1-54 group. A group consisting only of the monkies will be 30+ and should set your level range the way you want it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That did it! It's working as expected now, and I published my first mission!

    Bananas About Hamlet

If you have a chance to try it out, let me know what you think. It was mainly a rough draft to try out the Architect system, but I tried to make it amusing and with a little challenge at the end.
  5. I'm trying out the Architect mission for the first time, and trying to create a mission with some Rikti monkeys and a custom boss. There trouble I'm running into is that when a low-level character tests it, the only mobs in the mission are the custom boss.

How can I restrict the mission to characters of level 30+?

Currently I have a custom group composed of the following mobs:

    Minions:
    Rikti Monkey (30-33)
    Rikti Monkey (30-30)
    Rikti Monkey (30-30)
    Rikti Monkey (30-30)
    Vicious Rikti Monkey (38-54)

    Lieutenant:
    Custom NPC 1 (1-54)

    Boss:
    Custom NPC 2 (1-54)

In the mission I also have two patrols of monkeys, and an ambush of monkeys.

I personally don't see the point of crafting and slotting an IO until they start out-performing SO's. Before that the length of time they are gonna be superior to standard enhancements (TO's and DO's) is not long enough to justify the salvage. There is also the opportunity cost of the extra cash you could get for selling the recipe.
That's provided salvage and recipe drops at roughly the same rate as now so all guess work at this stage

    [/ QUOTE ]
I suspect that the the common IOs will be relatively easy to craft, so the salvage and the Influence won't be that big of a deal.

As for using low-level IOs, I can see a few cases where I'll be using them. Every one of my characters have powers that don't really need to be on the cutting edge of slotting, but still need a little help. For instance, Hover doesn't really require a huge boost, but having an Endurance Reduction slotted into the default slot helps a lot during long fights. For these sort of powers, it can get a little frustrating buying expensive Enhancements every few levels to keep something current that isn't really that important. I can definitely see buying an IO of whatever level, slotting it, and then forgetting about it forever.

I'm looking forward to the money savings I'll get for being able to never again buy jump ehancements for Hurdle, or speed enhancements for Sprint, or other relatively "ehh" powers. And am I really going to notice if the IO in Hurdle is equal to a DO, or a TO? Probably not. If I do, I can always upgrade later.

For the main-line powers, early IO don't make sense; you're always going to want the best of the best for your primary set. For the "boring" powers, however, early IOs may allow for some savings without any noticeable detriment to the character's performance.
  7. I wish I could suggest the map patch at Vidiotmaps.com, but it alters the in-game maps to show exactly where every badge and plaque is located, and I believe that's an alteration that is not allowed. I'm sorry I cannot recommend getting that patch.

    Guide to CoX Zen

    - The universal signal for "CHARGE!" is for a team-mate to drop onto one knee. That means they are bracing themselves for the rush of enemies you're bringing back to them.

    - The shortest route between any two points is boring. Fighting your way to a mission is a good way to replenish your Inspirations.

I disagree with most of the stuff in your guide.

I don't know if it's particularly useful to give details; it won't change your mind.

This is somewhat unrelated, but why are there so many Nihilata Cleric Droids and Lorants Gravebinders in the Horact Fire Mines? It doesn't really make sense, those two groups utterly despise eachother, so why are they working together in there (This is a Scale 5.5-6.3 area, level 60-82)?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The connection between them (as well as many other secrets about the Cleric Droids and Lorants) is revealed in "Web of the Manchusans", coming this winter in paperback from Cryptic Press.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Well, I don't really think this is a very fair comment. Remember the first post-Nubian Release (pre-Xanobian nerf of course).

    What's a Nubian?
  14. CuppaJo, you rock! The Mancusan bug caused our Tri-Team wipe during the Bugblatter Taskforce. Resolving this will help out us Soma players a LOT!

Of course, fixing this completely nerfs Ice Tankers who don't hex-class into Polarity (at least to get Magnaline), but who cares about them?

(Seriously though, awesome thread, and awesome reply by Cuppa. It's my new sig file.)
