  1. The event itself is fun. As this is my first Halloween, I am getting to see it all fresh and new. ToT is fun but challenging and those bosses are a lot harder on my squishy than on my scrapper but Dj now has her extra costume slot and I'm moving down the character list. It took me 3 D.Apoc events to get all the badges and accolade. That doesn't seem unreasonable. Hunted GMs with a good group for a while.

So far my only issue is the increased frequency of my game locking up and rebooting my PC. From 5pm to 12am last night I had 13 crashes. That bugs me since I bought this computer last week so that I could get away from the crashes my old PC was having. (hijack and helper logs posted elsewhere). Without those crashes, last night would have been a TON of unmitigated fun.

One of the things that drove me nuts last night was the congestion at the Oro portal. There were times when I would come out and step forward, turn around to go back through only to find 20 people standing right on it and no little blue hand appearing because they effectively boxed out the portal itself. It really made me wish that the incoming and outgoing locations were physically separate from each other. It's not usually an issue, but with whole teams rushing from zone to zone with greater frequency, it got a bit bothersome last night.
  2. Can't get in either. Crashed out on Virtue (8th time in 3 hours) but this time I can't get back on.

oh wait... it looks like it is going to connect now. yay.
  3. After getting the deadly mapserve twice, I finally got to complete two back-to-back events (Bricks and Talos) only to crash at Wenty's

ToT is killing me on my poor li'l emp defender. She's hitting a lot of vampire lords who have a 'send to hospital' button apparently. Hard work getting those dudes down. Having fun.

    Anything jump out at you?

Since posting this I've tried various video settings to see if turning things down would help. So far, I'm still averaging 2 crashes an hour. at least when they are back-to-back I can hope that I get a longer span to actually play.
  5. I'm going to have to run those programs and post as well. My old PC was crashing about 5 minutes into a CoX session (sometimes on the Server select screen) so I bought a new dual core. Sadly. I am still getting random reboots while playing despite having more processor, more memory and a different video card.

I never know how long I have before the crash happens. On the old PC it was a fast event, I could be playing normally when I would get *click* *reboot* but now there is a prolonged freeze before the *rebbot*. Last night was a good one because I was finishing off a Rikti bomb and when it blew, it took my CoX session with it. The bomb exploded and the session froze with the explosion sound looping. After a minute I just reached over and hit my reset button rather than wait for it to reboot. As I watched the computer come back up I thought "man, that blast was pretty big!"

I'll see if I can make some time tonight to get and post a couple files. I'd really like to know what is causing these crashes. I also need to turn off that reboot toggle and let WinXP go to blue screen so I can have a better idea what is actually blowing up.
  6. Couple weeks ago. Great team decides to do Bank mish. We pop in, clear the bank (getting great exp!) and the mission complete music plays so (out of habit) I hit the mission exit button.

The rest of the team is like !!! noooo!! Of course you can't re-enter the truck when you do that. *sigh* I was the only one on the team who knew where the exploration badge was too. :\
  7. I think new moderator is a pretty cool guy, eh is focused on eliminating bugs and doesn't afraid of anything!!

    Welcome aboard AK.
  8. I see that BaBs has comment on this in the Animation Bug thread. Curse you Branch 20!!!
  9. Played for a few hours last night an noticed an absence of coughing from the mobs I was hitting with Char and Cinders on my fire/fire controller.

Normally I'll hear that gasping for air soundbite and the coughing coupled with grabbing at the throat animation, but last night the mobs would just slump like they were sleeping (but without the ZzzzZZzzz above their head).

Only since the patch and consistent throughout 4 hours of play. Anyone else notice this?
  10. A couple years ago while I was winding down in Guild Wars and looking for a break, I gave CoH a try on a 14 day code. I loved it. It was so refreshing and the versatility of the character creation screen ate up days of that trial account time. My Blaster made it to level 14 on the last day and I felt so accomplished as I flew around Steel Canyon. My one regret was that I had vowed to never pay-to-play.

This last Christmas I offered my son a deal. Choose an mmo. I'll pay for a year of play. He chose CoX based on 3 days of goofing on my trial account 2 years ago. I had been secretly hoping he would choose it to give me a reason to break that vow. Here we are 9 months later plugging along and I don't know which one of us loves the game more.

As we have expanded our experience from in-game to the online community as a whole we have both been impressed with the accessibility of the dev crew and their ongoing responses to the requests and demands of their playerbase. My son is a particular fan of Babs.

All-in-all. It is a very safe bet that our accounts will continue past their one year without a second thought. My son and I happily add our voices to this thread. Thank you for your hard work, your patience and dedication, your unwavering commitment to the game and the players who make it a community. Thank you for giving my son and I place to play together when we are so far apart geographically. The distance between
New Zealand and Canada is much smaller when you can meet in Croatoa to fight Red Caps together.
