ok amended it to reflect that
Only had it happen to us in hero v villains ones.
-
Personally I would ditch thorn burst, damage is pretty bad, debuff is pretty bad, agro creation is pretty good tho.
-
No but I can explain it for you.
Go click the demon in nerva (loc -1260, 6405)(with the anagram name of respec trial). To do this everyone has to be in the zone, not necessarily near the contact. Ideally all but leader stay by ferry. Minimum team size is 4.
Mission 1 - kill 25 Council of thorns, this can be anywhere due to the fact that everyone is exemped down to max lvl 30, easiest place is Cap Au Diable. Best plan here is for the team leader to stay by contact and maybe go make coffee. Rest of team bundle through to cap and go kill CoT. They are just up into the hills on the left as you leave ferry and should all be grey. Soon as this is done team leader can click contact and get next mission.
Mission 2 - Kill 3 named mobs. There are 3 named mobs in a longbow base. Longbow commander type, Legacy Chain guy and a Wyvern guy. The wyvern one is normally near zone in. And longbow one is at far end of base, the legacy one seems to appear wherever he feels like that time. Fastest way here is someone with invis/stealth and tp. Careful for spines wardens tho. TP team to each of these mobs and kill them.
Team leader speak to contact again. Then all head to thorn isle.
Mission 3 - In this mission you will take down the thorn tree AV. To get to it, basically follow the right hand wal through map. When you get to a waterfall jump down rather than taking portal. Portal will drop you by group of mobs, where jumping just makes you wet. When you get to final room make sure someone has counter (if no one does you need to /petition). First thing to do here, is clear all mobs from outside of map. Leave the vines well alone. Also dont walk on top of the rocks or the AV can see you and has a habbit of shooting. It does toxic damage and can immob/slow.
Once all mobs clear, if you have someone with tp foe, you can make life a little easier by tping vines into little clusters then using aoe attacks on them. This is useful since the vines respawn after a few mins, so getting as many in one go as you can is useful for a head start. Otherwise its time to run around and mash as fast as you can! Work around the outside first killing the ones in front of AV last.
Ok this is where a dominator is useful, when the tree hits 40% health an ambush will spawn and attack you, with a good dominator, you can stall the ambush long enough for team to kill AV, collect reward and bugger off, if not then you'll need to fight them, how really depends on your team makeup.
Once tree is dead, click the glowing heart of it for your reward.
To use the respec see arbiter lupus in Nerva, he is found next to arbiter frederick who does the training.
One thing to be aware of, if you have MM's in team is well worth them standing behind a rock and directing pets from there. the AV does seem to like shooting MM's, looks as tho all agro from pets just goes to them. Should work if the MM targets a pary member and spam assists them.
With a good team you can be done in 40 mins, if people not so used to each other is about 60-75mins.
PS. Mobs will be 2 levels higher than highest lvl party member, so a close level range is a good idea. -
Just some stuff people might want to be aware of.
Base raiding is definately fun, however there are some potential complications with it. So thought after doing a few base raids I would jot some stuff down.
1 - Joining a raid.....Thanks to the PD's we found that there were some issues with people not getting the join option. It appears to this can happen in any kind of base raids.(have /bugged this)
The join option is found under
SUPER - RAID - JOIN
It is timed and only available for about 5 mins.
2 - It can get mighty laggy (turn your graphics way down....(you know the setting that turns everyone into smiley primary colour blocks should do)....if its just for fun you might want to consider only using 8 man teams. Also its a lot faster arranging these so folks wont have to wait around.
3 - You win by destroying/disabling the dimensional anchors. These are little round things on the walls in some rooms (I'll try remember to post screenshots of some when I get home). Smash these to win, or place disruptor pylons (the things made from salvage on basic worktables) in the same rooms. It is worth noting that unlike vault doors, these things cant be AS'd (again have /bugged)
4 - If you die you can rez in your med lab, if your med lab has gone you will rez at the hospital of the zone you enter base from. Eg if you enter from st martials, you will spawn at the st martials hospital. Therefore if you dont want to run half way accross the zone to get to the base portal. So make sure to zone in from either mercy, sharkhead or nerva archipelego. These zones all have hospitals nearbase portals. (obviously this only applies if your being raided by someone else)
6 - Your base resets to its original state afterwards if it is an instant raid (eg one not scheduled for an item of power).
Have probably missed some stuff, but those are the questions and points folks often arent aware of. Hope that helps and happy raiding folks! -
Again, maybe things will change as the bases get larger but I can't help do the maths. What about when a base expands to the point where it can house 5 IoPs? That's 30 anchors spread over 30 rooms and only a maximum of 75 defenders. 2.5 per room MAX, and given most SGs you're probably looking at more like 1 defender per room. How on earth do you go about defending a chunk of real estate that large with so few ppl?
I think some major fiddling with the base system will occur after base raids start becomming common.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bases raids are still limited to 16 people, therefore a huge base will only have the effect that attackers spawn in random doorway.....defenders now have huge base to search to find attackers.....attackers have to find 6 out of 30 dimensional anchors.....this should make the attackers life easier. -
Kin lemme know when your doing the next one and would like to come along if you got space
-
Yay me!
And just for you frosty I made a ninja's MM. Then again you already know this by now cos you teamed with........oh its monday morning....time for some more ebarressing typo's.......... -
Gimme a shout when you do the ice mistral one
Will be happy to come help in a form of your choice

It is an awesome TF, the last mission is a doozy! A whole battle platform on a nice battleships style map, you get climb to the top destroying defences as you go, turrets, missile launchers and so on. Once at the top after enough damage, an AV will spawn. He is a touch annoying as he has both fly and stealth, so make sure to have a good stock of yellow insps or have someone with tactics around.
Be prepared for it to take a good 3+ hours though, is quite long. -
Am sure if you get one of the daggers comes with you, I can sort it that they have rights to take missions. Hope that helps.
-
Well with kinetics you want to stand near the mobs generally as thats where your buffs happen.
Transference is a great power!
And bitter freeze ray is very slow.
Stealth is also your friend, helps lower agro you get if with a team.
Blizzard isnt much cop atm but with changes to aoe stuff it could become quite good. -
Well I would also look at it this way:
1- IOP's are really more a status thing than a real bonus for an SG, unless you get one of the 2 unique ones that each server has.
2- People will soon stop trying to get IOP's after a few bases get trashed. Cos you can be sure that if its breakable, its gonna get broken in a raid.
3- Plus if all IOP's do go back after each period ends, are people gonna be bothered to go get them each time. It could after all mean 5 raids in a 5 day period to get all 5 back since a base can support up to that number. -
Well go with acc/recharge/slow. Bear in mind that it isnt great to stop tping folks get away, but anyone else that use a more mundane travel power will find it hard to escape. And fighting becomes a lil tricky. Tis a great power for setting up the victories, as is siphon power.
-
It does give a small +recharge
-
Yeah I did 40 levels on that build with no travel power
Personally I slotted siphon speed with 2 x recharg redux, 2 x acc, 1 x slow effect.
Tho that was more for use in PvP. If your just using it as a travel power probably no need for the last slot. -
But we all love 1 shotting gandrol
Buff me gand, buff me gand, die gand! -
Dont think it is live atm, should be live in next week or two probably. First period was beginging of december for 5 days, and then has a 50 day cooler.
Yep it is quite tricky, though majority of that is co-ordinating the attacks on the pillars. I would make sure you take the biggest team you can (max is 24, 1 team per pillar). The mobs are only lvl 52 but do do psi damage, and are flying. Everyone auto SK's to lvl 50 i the cathedral.
Depending on whether your doing it from hero or villain side, it can be mean, I think ther heros get an easier run of it if they are controller heavy. However probably easier now we have more villains at 40. -
Frosty is the man....er wolf for this
-
I am hugely under powered....anti-nerf me!
I think the reason there are so few, is that the majority of pvp done from villain side is by stalkers. The heros tend to be more varied and support each other more. The corruptors and dominators dont really turn up since they tend to be just seen as buff/control and then left to be murdered by the heros as the visable soft target.
Sadly I think this puts off a lot of corrs/doms from pvping much. Of course there arent many doms around in the first place, and I think they could probably do with be looked at a little. -
Yup have to say, I focused on holds more than attacks. After lvl 10 your damage really does start to become pitiful, and teaming becomes the way forward. If your gonna team and hope to be invited back you want to be useful. That whole crowd control and debuff thing is the way forward.
I only took 3 powers from my thirns secondary set, but I slotted them all up with def debuffs and accs. I figure, compared to the team I do very little damage, however def debuffs make them do more, and that makes me useful even if not overtly.
Thorntrops, well just like caltrops these are really useful in choke points like doorways. Recharge slot them and you can put 2/3 down at same time. If you slot them with slows and put them in same spot you can almost immobilise mobs. Again makes you useful, great if team is retreating and quite obvious.
My primary set, well I skipped the sleeps. Why? Well if your gonna team (which you will need as you go up levels) odds are someone will be using some form of aoe attack, have pets etc. So your nice mass sleep effect is now gonna get woken up by that fireball/blazing aura/death shroud/caltrop etc only thing is they are probably all gonna be mad at you.....uhoh your a squishy that cant be good.
Holds, repels, debuffs are all great. Personally I also took hover and stealth to give me some defence. I also have phase shift as an emergency panic. I also took tp foe, so I could pull mobs out for a team.
But this is just what worked for me. -
As several folks have pointed out, any of the AT's can solo, just a question of how well. I mean my corruptor can people in PvP, but the odds on me soloing a scrapper or tanker are slim. I can kill a tanker with my dominator....it takes 18 mins. Stalkers are a new game dynamic, early on folks got AS'd all over the place, folks got upset at stalkers, but then figured, well to fight em we need to team up, lets get all those +per powers. I know my heros do, they also carry stacks of yellows for those twitchy moments when I see something briefly (think of em like a flashlight lol!).
So stalkers need to become more innovative, be it ranged crits in teams, maybe start working with that friendly dominator. Hell I have stood there as bait as my dominator for a group of stalkers near by. After all if the stalker is not in the centre of view, that suddenly makes that sneaking much easier. -
With a fire secondary your gonna need acrobatics for the knockback protection (or hover for the supression of it). That means you will need to take 2 other powers from the leaping pool.
Comat Jumping
Jump Kick
Super Jump
Acrobatics
