Cathedral Of Pain/base raids live yet?
Dont think it is live atm, should be live in next week or two probably. First period was beginging of december for 5 days, and then has a 50 day cooler.
Yep it is quite tricky, though majority of that is co-ordinating the attacks on the pillars. I would make sure you take the biggest team you can (max is 24, 1 team per pillar). The mobs are only lvl 52 but do do psi damage, and are flying. Everyone auto SK's to lvl 50 i the cathedral.
Depending on whether your doing it from hero or villain side, it can be mean, I think ther heros get an easier run of it if they are controller heavy. However probably easier now we have more villains at 40.
So it's not live 24/7, but only put up for certain times? That's a bit odd....
I'm guessing the idea is to limit the amount of IoPs on the servers so they are fought over more often.

and once it hits the live servers, it will only be available at limited times.

This is from a post from Amboss when the CoP was first put on test server so it is WAI.

Yeah mate, it's only live for 5 out of every 55 or 60 days (I forget which). And I think the IoP's get returned to the Raluruu when the trial opens up again.
Although I hasten to point out that the "open days" are likely to become more frequent in the future.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure the Devs said they would find a timeframe that's not too long or too short and stick with it.

I can't recall the actual thread - although I do believe it's in the Dev Corner somewhere - but as far as I remember, they said they'd be tweaking the strength of the IoPs and/or tweaking the length/frequency of the trial.
Waiting nearly two months does seem a bit much, I must say, even if they will be changing hands primarily through base raids.
They want a big gap in between to encourage people to actually raid other bases for their IoP's. They feel that if the trial was open more often, less people would take part in raids.

The CoP, Items of Power, and Base Raiding are all part of an overall system. That system is designed to create an incentive for base raiding. Several have astutely noted that if the trial was always available and rewarded with IoP's no one would have a need to base raid or worry about defending.

Is the 5/55 spread the right breakdown? Maybe, maybe not. Certainly we did not want it to be longer than 60 days. Would 53, 41, or 22 days would be better? The point is we had to start somewhere. It will be watched and monitored. Consider how more upset you would have been if we started short and then lengthened the time in between.

Seems we're both right, to a degree.
I think it probably should be shortened a bit...maybe to monthly or something. But then 5 days would probably be too much I guess.
Well I would also look at it this way:
1- IOP's are really more a status thing than a real bonus for an SG, unless you get one of the 2 unique ones that each server has.
2- People will soon stop trying to get IOP's after a few bases get trashed. Cos you can be sure that if its breakable, its gonna get broken in a raid.
3- Plus if all IOP's do go back after each period ends, are people gonna be bothered to go get them each time. It could after all mean 5 raids in a 5 day period to get all 5 back since a base can support up to that number.
Bloody hell yes its worth the bother. That way I can see some team pvp action with my SG. I dont care about having a big base, I just wanna have fun. Raiding will be fun (I think). Besides we can prolly get the lost inf back within a week or two.
First thing the PD's will do after the trial opens again is to get a IoP.

Perhaps this way we can actually get people to fight us.

Does anyone know if the Cathedral Of Pain trial is live yet? My SG just got a raidable base and we're interested in running it, but I don't want to start the mission unless we're 100% sure it's working.
Also, does anyone know if any other supergroups have run it successfully on live? Was it hard? Are there any easy ways to do it quickly?
