  1. Thanks for the reply. I thought the redraw was fixed on animation times, but I guess I was wrong. I did think about dwindling crowds, i figure just put your back to a wall and taunt them over, but even then that would be a pain. But if rage (or buildup for that matter) truelly aren't necessary, then might as well stick with SS. But I may have to try mace out, and see just how annoying those redraw times are.
  2. I love foot stomp, don't get me wrong, it's the bee's knees. But it just seems odd that SS/Fire is the "top dog" when it comes to farming. Now I never farmed with a brute before, so feel free to enlighten me... but with the rage crashes, it seems inefficient when it comes to farming. A lot of people even state they don't even use rage because of it (though double rage is juicy when it kicks in - so I could see why you would use it despite the crash).

    So what am I getting at? Well, footstomp is awesome because you pop a recharge proc in it and you are king. You do good damage, it has a huge radius (so hitting the max 10 targets is a cake walk, thus giving you a ~65% chance of activating your proc). But let me ask you experienced folks, how hard is it to hit 10 targets using Crowd Control with it's 180 degree arc and 8 foot radius? I figure in a farm, with very tight mobs, it wouldn't be hard... but maybe I'm wrong. The benefits I see is that you could very possibly activate the recharge proc just as often as you would with footstomp, but with a recharge of 12seconds instead of 20 (or we'll say 3 seconds vs. 5 seconds after all recharge improvements are set in), you do more damage (1.61 damage scale vs. 1.42, with cast times of 2.0 seconds vs. 2.1 seconds respectively). Also, no rage crash, but a regular build up that will pop up every 23 seconds or so. Just to give you an idea of a recharge-centric AoE build, I'll post one below. But I'm not too concerned with build suggestions, just suggestions that could be recommended over SS (with rage crash or with no build up at all). Thanks


    Again, this is only a hypothetical design I made where he is intended to have huge recharge and does all AoE damage (don't cry foul over not having clobber) This build uses 5 AoE, 3 of which has the endurance proc to help with retrieving endurance as you'll burn through it even with consume going off quickly (though picture this toon with Ageless tier 4 +recovery)

  3. I worked some stuff in mids and this is the closest I got. I took the Spiritual Core Paragon for my alpha. I also to the Ageless Core Epiphany (which essentially provides me with a permanent 10% recharge increase along with short periods of even more recharge (70% for the first 10 seconds, 30% the next 20 seconds, 20% the next 30 seconds, and 10% for the last 60 seconds). As you'll see, I got S/L softcapped, but came just short of ranged softcapped. I may have overly gimped him by using Ninja run as his only travel power and took a lot of ****** melee attacks as Kinetic Combat mules, but it seems to not hurt the build too much overall. My main disappointment is not having damage procs in my attacks, which would have been helpful against AV/GMs, but taking reactive with 75% fire dot proc hopefully will make up for it. Please take a look, and tell me where I could improve this all-around solo build. (Price, we'll assume is not a problem)

  4. I am wanting to respec my Rad/Sonic defender to take on the Dark Mastery Ancillary pool. He is designed to be my AV/GM solo build normally, but I feel like Dark Mastery can allow me to have some fun soloing in normal missions where there may be large mobs. I love Opressive Gloom and will require that power to be in the build, as well as Soul Drain and Dark Embrace (Also, I would like dark consumption as it would give me another PBAoE power and can help my endurance). I don't plan on using a wide amount of attack powers; Scream, Shout, and Shriek are all I would plan to use against an AV/GM and would only use those in a regular battle (as I pick off disoriented enemies one by one, using Soul Drain to power me up quite nicely).

    Here is my challenge for all of you. Below is my current Rad/Sonic/Psy build that is soft-capped for range defense and is perma-hasten, perma-AM, and perma-LR. Now that Incarnates have come out since I first designed this toon, I would like to know if anyone can make it so my toon has the powers I want to use (listed above - but feel free to be flexible with not taking certain powers if it is necessary), and to still be perma'd out with soft-cap or near soft-cap S/L and Range. Use Alpha slot and Destiny to help with the numbers if needed.

    I know above was a mouthful, so here's a summary of what I want:

  5. I did not know that, but that is awesome to note. I'm a little confused as to what the damage output for Energy Transfer is. I look it up in CoH and it says it's about 370 or so, but is that including the special damage that goes against you? How much damage is the enemy taking exactly?
  6. Thanks for the build option. The reason for some of the attacks being under-slotted was because I don't plan to use them all in my attack chain. Barrage and Total focus act more as anchors for kinetic combat than anything else.

    The reason why I went with more F/C defense was because of my lack in F/C resistance. I thought it would provide a good all around build. Since my resistance for energy is capped, I am not worried too much about putting more defense into it.

    I love what you did with build-up, I am surprised I missed rectified recticle's S/L defense. Big oversight.

    I took your build and made some minor tweaks, I took out a slot in Barrage and Total Focus to give damage procs to Energy Punch and Bone Smasher (since they are my main's in my EP - BS - EP - ET attack chain). I took a slot out of Weave (Defense ED'd, unless you were just doing that for the 9% acc) to put the +end proc back into Power Surge (I figured if I crashed in a mob, I could avoid a complete endurance crash - which saves me from re-toggling)
  7. I haven't seen many builds of this type of tank. I was intrigued by the damage of Energy Transfer, and the heavy resistance of Electricity. The increased recharge and self heal seems to synergize well with Energy Transfer. I am picturing an attack scheme of Energy Punch - Bone Smasher - Energy Punch - Energy Transfer.

    Anyways, long story short, this build is softcapped in S/L. Is perma hasten. And seems like a good build overall, but I believe anything can be improved. This build is on the expensive side, it's not too much of a problem for me, but if we can shed some price for equal to better performance, then why not?

  9. I wanted to make a defender who could solo bosses, EBs, and higher.
    I noticed how two of the AoE powers in Ice Blast are just as powerful for a defender as for a blaster and thought that's a good start for making sure I can do plenty of damage. However, for my primary, I'm not certain as to how I want to go with buffs/debuffs. Kin offers a nice little combo with FS+Ice Strom+Blizzard, followed with Transfurence to reload endurance. But am curious if this is the best way to go to apply damage while also being able to keep myself alive. Any thoughts on the Kin/Ice? Remember, I'm looking to solo, so I'm not necessarily sold on either set, just thought it was a nice way to go.
