And much like some of the other people in this thread, it would appear that Power Boost in the Energy Manip secondary AND NOT THE CONTROLLER EPIC needs a nerf, possibly in the way of not having a +heal component.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fixed. Leave my controllers Power Boost alone! It's not quite so game-breaking as /EMs since we don't get it until level 47.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
End recovery isn't affected by PB. Feel free to disagree, but it's easy to check by yourself : use PB, use aura, nuke (so you're at 0 end), time the time it takes you to get back to full end. Do the same without using PB before the aura.

Yes, I know _Castle_ made a post saying end recovery was affected by PB, in fact I tried AM and SB end recovery with PB right after reading this, and was quite disappointed to find out he was wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except that when you fire a nuke, the -recovery debuff is so great that it requires power boosted AB and RA to overcome it. You won't see the effects of it if you just nuke and wait because of the suppression.

  6. Just to let the PA droppers know, the guide was updated with more detail as to what you guys should be doing. Go here and have a read!
  7. UPDATE! Archy has written the guide for PA droppers, and here it is!

Issue 7 "bugged" Hami PA drop guide by Archy

Since i7 hit we have had some issues with pets and since we were unprepared for this at our last attempt at Hamidon nobody could enter the jelly and so the raid had to be called off.

Generalissmo 2 and I have done some extensive testing in the Hive and here's what we found:

Your PAs will ALWAYS summon at the nearest "hard surface" to your PA summoning recticle, this basically means we can
pinpoint the exact positions to drop PAs and keep dropping them at that position throughout the entire raid.

This basically means: You have a mito 99 yards to your left, another one 100 yards to your right. Point your summoning recticle to your left and the PAs will land at the mito to your left and if you point it to your right they will summon to your right.

If you summon them on your own exact location they will summon to your left as that Mito is 1 yard closer to you than the other.

NOTE: As long as you're more than 40 yards in the air the PAs wont attack or run around after you if you move.

    Tactics:

The PA team(s) will gather as usual at the Hive entrance in Eden. We will go in a bit earlier than we normally do.
When hovering over Hamidon we will begin finding locations for people to start dropping PAs to. Hope to get PAs spread
out all over the jelly. When we have people in position they will stay there and keep dropping at the same spot during
most of the raid; yes I know this a bit more boring than our old raids but I'm afraid the new changes demands it.

This means we wont have Perma PAs like on previous raids but we will try to get some flying kinetics to buff us in the air.

If this goes according to plan the spot you're covering with your PAs will eventually be cleared. If this should happen
you will tell your PA teamleader which most likely will be either Generalissimo 2 (as Righteous Bob) or me as Arch Nemesis and we will tell you what to do next. This will either be: Move to another section of the jelly and find a good spot or go into the jelly so the PAs will actually attack, follow you and get aggro.

    Simple, eh?
  8. Where's me on that list!? I signed up in like the fourth post of the thread!
  9. [ QUOTE ]
For the first time ever Cunundrum will be there to heal/buff/rez and chat. Not chat as much as usual. Chatting and lag kills...

    [/ QUOTE ]

But you must chat. EVERYBODY MUST CHAT! (just not on the request channel....)
  10. Sure, I'm in with Sumiyaka, my Illusion/Empathy. No clear mind before level 20 though =S
  11. Ruby would probably be better, what with being a Controller and all.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Maybe the confuses have magnitudes just like holds....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bindun. Some guys from the US were successfully able to confuse a mitochondira. The only problem was, it actually didn't have enough damage to hit Hamidon over his regeneration rate.
  13. Ag ag AG!. I've been really busy with work this week, and so I haven't had time to do the round 8 draw so it looks like we'll have to have another week off this week. Sorry guys. I'll try and draw it for next week ASAP.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Its a case of xanthus being a lazy *******.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This one. We'll be using Tesla Cage as an indicator of him being held.
  15. That's right, lads and ladettes, it's time for another fun fun fun Hamidon raid! The dates and times for the next raid are as follows:

Sunday the 6th of August. 7pm meet-up outside the Hive door in Eden for an 8pm raid start.

Hamidon is only avaliable to Heroes of level 45 and above. If this is your first raid, please refer yourself to this guide for instructions of what we need you to do.

We're going to do it this time. I know we are.

    P.S. Bring wakes!

P.P.S. Please, do not bring Warburg Nukes or Shivans. We will have enough debuffs and enough damage for Hamidon, and dropping nukes and shivans will only add to the lag. Thank you.
  16. I rewrote some of the last guide for i7 so I figured I'd stick the whole thing up here, including all the little tweaks we made after running a few raids.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    Preparation

-Raid Costume: NO aura's, NO cape, and as little detail as posible. We will check everyone and if you aren't wearing an auraless/capeless costume we will ask you to go to icon and change it. If you don't have enough money, one of us will be able to provide you with enough to change it.

-Holds. We arent asking you to loose your lvl 53 SOs or anything but please try to get 3 hold durations in all your holds. It just makes holding the big guy WAY easier.

-Bring awakens, just in case. Its a rare hamidon raid where people dont die. Honestly, if we get through a hamidon raid with no deaths at all I'll be extremely suprised.

Ok, we're all set to go! Now make your way to the Hive door in Eden at the time stated in the organization thread and follow the steps outlined below!

-If you are an illusion controller please send a tell to the person I announce who is in charge of the Phantom Army dropping team. They will explain how this works when the PA dropping team has enough members. If the team is full, we'll try and organize another one as you can never have enough PA. We'll let you know when one team is full, if we decide to form a second one.

-Teaming is up to you guys, but if your on a team with no players who have taken part in a hamidon raid before, send a tell to Xanthus and we will get an experienced player on your team.

-The only toggles you get to run in the hive are mez (status) protection and travelpowers. Hamidon does UNTYPED damage, which will hit straight through your shields no matter what AT and powersets you are. Not running your toggles will also reduce lag and ensure a smoother raid for everyone.

-If you have a slow computer we highly suggest you run in safe mode during the raid. You enter safe mode by quitting CoH and restarting the game. At the updater window you click Next -> then you get the screen where you agree to the EULA. Next to the I Agree button there is a small square and if you click that square the game will run in safe mode. Safe Mode forces CoH to run on the lowest settings possible, which should lessen lag for everybody.

-If you're still having lag problems, enter the options emnu and select "General". Scroll down until you find the "Display Player Names" option and switch it away from "Show Always". This is, unfortunately, the best you can do to reduce lag without buying a whole new computer.

    - Make sure you can read the request channel. This is where you will receive your "orders" and hear explanations of the next phase. Only Xanthus is allowed to use this channel for the raid. If possible, move it to another tab so that you don't get caught up in the broadcast spam that is usually present at a hamidon raid. I may also create a global channel, details of which I'll go over on the night.

-The final step is to add the targetter to your friends list (/friend <name&gt, who I'll announce on the night.

Ok, we're all set in teams! Wait for the order from Xanthus over request and then enter the hive!

    Mito Clearing Phase

There is a small hill close to Hamidon nicknamed Cowards Hill or The Staging Platform. Make your way here to meet up with everyone else and prepare to start the raid. If you don't know where Cowards Hill is, chances are someone in your team does as they will have attended a hamidon raid before (assuming you followed the instructions earlier and got an experienced player on your team).

Once everyone is in place, we'll call for the PA to start containing the aggro from the Mitochondria surrounding Hamidon (I'll post more specific methods in a seperate guide within the next few days). Once the PA have the mito aggro, the Hamidon tank (Novocaine) will move into the jelly and get the aggro from Hamidon. Once we have everything under control, the next phase will begin.

This is where the targetter (who I'll announce on the night) comes in. We need to clear the Mitos surrounding Hamidon as quickly as possible, as they have a tendency to split into two if we do not do it fast enough. Your job is to attack his target and only his target. To do this, simply ensure that you have him targetted throughout the Mito clearing phase. Whenever you hit your attacks, they'll automatically hit the Mitochondrion he has targetted. We'll move around the blob taking down Mitos one by one. Those with a healing aura will try to keep a healing spam up so that death is minimal. All radation controllers and defenders should keep Enervating Field on the mito we are attacking as this will allow us to kill them faster and should speed this stage up with alot. If you have it, try and fire Lingering Radiation on the Mito as well, since that will lower its regeneration rate and speed up the clearing even more.

This should take around 30mins - 1 hours, depending on how well coordinated we are, so stay sharp and follow the orders on request to get things done as fast as possible.

Powers no to be used during the Mito clearing phase:

AoE or PBAoE attacks: Using these will pull extra aggro from other mitos onto the clearing group, which will cause many people to die. When they die, they aren't hitting stuff and so this phase will slow RIGHT down.

NO KINETICS POWERS except speed boost. While I know that it is tempting to slap a fulcrum shift down for the extra damge on everyone, Kinetics is by far the laggiest powerset in the game (to the point where it might even cause people to crash).

Any Pets: Pets tend to run off and aggro other Mitos. This is bad.

Taunt: The ONLY person using taunt inside the Hive should be the Hamidon tank. If you drop taunt, chances are you'll hit another two or three mitos as well as Hamidon himself. If you taunt hamidons aggro onto the Clearing group, we'll probably have a raid wipe and have to start from the beggining. Also, people really won't be pleased with you at all.

    Hit Hamidon Phase

When all the Mito's are gone and the tank is still taunting away, everybody should run up and brawl Hamidon ONCE. This will make sure we all get a HO, even those not involved in the direct attacking of Hamidon.

    Holding Hamidon Phase

For the rest of the raid we will only use Defenders, Blasters and Controllers. The rest of you are in charge of making bad jokes over broadcast to entertain us all while we repeatedly click our holds. Assuming you've brawled hamidon in the previous phase, you will still get a HO so don't worry, you won't be left out.

The name of this game is hold Hamidon or we loose. The indicator that Hamidon is held is if he stops shooting at the tank.

We all form up in a tight group at the opposite side of Hamidon from the tank team and start using our holds. If you power takes Hold Durations enhancements, its a hold. If it doesn't, it's not and shouldn't be used during this phase unless otherwise instructed. Those with Accelerate Metabolism should use it everytime it's recharged. Otherwise, people should be holds and powerboost only. HEAL SPAM IS NOT NEEDED AT THIS POINT

Powers to be used during this Phase:

    Holds(of course)
Accelerate Metabolism, speed boost and adrenalin boost.
    Singularity (The gravity pet)
Enervation field, when we call for it and not before.

(NB: We aren't using other pets because they cause far too much lag for extra help that they provide. Dark Servants spamming Twighlight Grasp often cause people to crash and Jack Frost just doesn't use his hold often enough to warrant being used.)

N0THING ELSE, everything else causes lag and slows down our progress or even worse can cause the server to crash.
The holds have enough damage to kill hamidon quite fast, so we won't use anything else.

If this doesn't work, we will call for around 8 scrappers to do the damage. If you're one of the eight, you'll know because I will have sent you a tell.

If you aren't, stay on the platform and keep making jokes. Without your jokes, the raid will SURELY fail. If 8 scrappers isn't enough, I'll call for more, again via tells. Please only watch the raid from the platform. I know it might be tempting to go down into the bubble to get a closer look, but don't. Every single person in that bubble adds up to more lag, so stay out.

If at some point hamidon comes under 50% of health and breaks free we loose. You'll know we've lost because you'll be dead, and there'll be an angry looking Yellow Mitochondrion where you were standing. There are different Mito spawn points but the general rule is that if he isn't held and is under 50% HP the raid fails. For this reason we will call for all the heroes that takes part in the holding phase to use vanguard at 55% indicated by Xanthus over request.

Hamidon has a nasty tendency of becomming invisible due to lag at raids. Don't worry, he hasn't disappeared and can still be attacked. If this happens, find a Singularity to target as they'll never lose target. If you can't find one, add Xanthus to your friends list, target him and type "/assist" into your chat window. Doing this will mean that you switch to his target, which will be his pet throughout the entire raid.

How holding hamidon works: Hamidon has a mag 99 shield, meaning we have to stack alot of holds on him. A typical boss takes two applications of a hold to get him held, Hamidon takes (my guess is 99 holds, but no-one actually knows) to hold. During this phase it is vitally important that you guys to stay sharp and keep an eye on the request channel for the order to drop Vanguard.

After a little while, Hamidon dies. We all get a HO, we go to Atlas and party.

    Grav/*

Take /storm if you want an easy piece of ghetto control. The AoE immob from gravity won't stop the knockdown from Freezing Rain like the immobs from other sets. Slap them both on a mob and there's not a lot they can do to you.
  18. Heh, I just kill badge hunters as soon as I see them. When they whine on Broadcast, I politely point out that they're in a PvP zone and so I'm going to attack them. The drama that causes is priceless.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
There's got to be a womble spoon out there somewhere, it's just really really really well hidden.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If there is, it's nothing to do with anything within the Hive. Earlier on today myself and Archy scanned the entire Hive with Blinkie Finder. For those not in-the-know, Blinkie Finder is a program which looks at .cohdemo files and then brings up a list of the entities (visible and invisible) present in the demo file and their X and Y co-ordinates. If there was any hidden button, any NPC that might be invisible until certain critera are fulfilled or any strange doors they would have shown up on Blinkie Finder.

After scanning the entire Hive, we found..... nothing. No hidden doors. No magical buttons. No gigantic cannon to one-shot Hamidon. Nothing abnormal at all, just a few doors on the abandoned Portal Corp buildings (which are just part of the texture used for every building of that kind) and a whole lot of Swarms (you never realise quite how many there are in there until you see a list of every single one).

If there is a "womble spoon", it sure as hell isn't in the Hive.
  20. Xanthus_EU

    WEASEL DID IT!

I'm sorry, I won't accept it's true without the evidence of my own eyes. You cannot be 50.
  21. I love it when I get told that working in a team is cheating. I'm sorry, maybe I should just go in solo with my sonic defender next time?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
In the past, we used the fact that hamidon didn't attack while held. This time, this was no longer a possibility since it can now attack through holds, even when held. So we used the next best thing - containment. What we didn't take into account is the fact that containment also does double damage for immobilized enemies. Either Hamidon is inherently immobilized (so everyone would see double damage log, can anyone confirm this isn't the case?), or he got immobolized half way through (which did happen

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hamidon is actually perma-immobilized, in the same way as things like the auto-turrets in Sirens Call or Striga Isle are. You always have Containment damage from Hamidon. The best indicator of his held status is to have the tank team watch for the Tesla Cage animation around the middle of Hamidon. It's clearly visible to someone not standing in the lag of the hold group, and it won't appear until he's actually held.

    [ QUOTE ]
Continue with the troller holds but have a couple of squads of kinetics hitting Hami with Siphon Speed and Transference.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What would Siphon Speed and Transference do, exactly?

    [ QUOTE ]
Another idea I had was to use mass confusion on a bunch of swarms....and then set them on Hami. I reckon slows will work on him but they will need to be amassed like hold magnitudes and Swarms can very quickly reduce a toon to a statue....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why do you want to try and slow Hamidon? So when he spawns his mitos once, he won't do it a second time for ages?! After the first mito-spawn the raid is over anyway, so how is slowing him going to change the outcome?

    [ QUOTE ]
Forgive me if this is impossible, but what about confusing the GMs that you say are in the area? I've never played CoH myself, but surely they'll do a ton of damage to him if they attack?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Already been tried by the US. They had literally an army of GMs set on Hamidon, and he killed them all before they could do anything.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
nah it was said by us as encourage ment to keep up the work and because we was getting some where holds we're always firing (as they could) as we had hami in containtment, and needed to "keep it up"

    [/ QUOTE ]

From what I understand, part of the problem was also that people were told to use Singularities to target through. When you do that at a raid where the mitos aren't cleared, about 80% of your holds are probably ending up on a nearby mito rather than the big guy himself.

Also, lag was probably the main factor in the failure. With that much healspam increasing the lag, the server can "blip", allowing Hamidon to break free, fire his mito spawn and then become re-held before you even see it happening.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Draw is posted tomorrow morning, after i've had some kip

    [/ QUOTE ]

This will probably be the same for Union as well.
