No honour amongst Badge Hunters!!!

Rant.

I was absolutely steaming last night when myself and flames shed blood, sweat and tears (admittedly, tears of laughter) over a pillbox, first clearing out a mastermind with a heavy and his full array of pets, whilst taking damage from 4 turrets. Then taking the turrets 1 by one, resting in between due to the hefty damage coming in. Then killing the returning MM again. Finally killing the last turret....

... Oh whats this. A level 47 Kinetics defender jumping in at the last minute and clicking the pill box. I was mad. Had they helped take the pillbox? NO. Not one bit. Not even slightly. Did they say sorry? Did they admit fault when challenged? Is this unacceptable behaviour in anyone elses view or is it just me who gets mad about it? Having had the 'Risk vs Reward' ideal hammered into us by States so many times already, the current way Pillbox captures work seems ludicrous!

That behaviour was worse in my view than the common behaviour of camping the pillbox clickies while other heros do the hard work. At least if someone is camping the clicky, you can just stop killing the turrets.

All for badges... Really, this makes me mad. Really mad. Maybe it shouldnt but it does. The current system promotes behaviour like this, so I really hope its possible for the pillboxes to be captured by those that have done the highest percentage of damage to the pillbox or something.

I wont even get onto the badge hunters who have been 'commanding' RV AV bashing sessions... from the 'dead and can't be arsed to rez and help' position. Grrr. If you want the badges people, please respect the fact that you might have to work for them. Please also respect the fact that some people will be in RV for PvP, shock horror, and might not take kindly to constant BC spammage of 'EVERYONE ATTACK <insert name of Signature AV that needs twice as many heros than are in the zone>'

I want to see a new badge in the pvp zones, "badger hunter" you get it for 100 badge hunter kills and the description says "You make David Bellamy cry". Could also do with a "duel stopper" badge.

The stupid nature of the pillboxes badges ie only ones you get yourself count clearly bring up things like this. I personally think either team captures should count or its for number of turrets destroyed. AS for AVs zone co-operation is needed but it doesnt happen often and you can pvp else where while that is happeneing.

It needs a 'tag' system - when you (and your team) are attacking the pillbox, it is YOURS and YOURS alone - no one else can click the glowie unless they are in your team or helped to take down the pillboxes.

Badge Hunters is all well and good but it's annoying when they moan about being attacked in pvp zones (although risk = reward) but then effectively grief others.

Heh, I just kill badge hunters as soon as I see them. When they whine on Broadcast, I politely point out that they're in a PvP zone and so I'm going to attack them. The drama that causes is priceless.

LMAO! Hear hear!

And I'm not overly fussed about someone swooping in for the pillbox.... less so, since there's no more shield for it.

Should the same not be said of those (predominantly stalkers from what I've seen) in Warburg who wait for people to exit the web with a scientist in tow before ambushing them, in the hopes of getting both a kill and a scientist code? Minimal risk - high gain.
It's fair, it's allowed, yes it's irritating but not like it'll ever stop as long as the game does allow it.

The tag system does actually sound like a valid way of preventing such, but to prevent abuse you'd need the tag to reset on the pillbox/scientist after a period, returning the turrets guarding it/sending the scientist back to where he was picked up so there are no easy grabs possible.

In Warburg the system is WAI, since it's not minimal risk to attack someone and kill them to get the scientist. It's PvP in a PvP zone. In Warburg the "official" target is to get the codes for yourself while preventing the enemy from getting them.

Pretty much the same situation with people complaining about getting attacked at Siren's when heading to missions. If they succeed, I get debuffed. There is nothing wrong about taking them down.

Recluse's problem is that whoever happens to click the glowie first when the last turret is down gets the count towards the badge. This someone can be from the same side as you are, so there is nothing you can do about it.

I'm talking about entire groups ambushing the person who has the scientist following them, not the usual one group versus another, more of a rapid smash and grab, and they are usually waiting near the entrances to the underground web, how can this be compared to the instanced missions which are randomly placed throughout the zones. If the target is indeed to get the codes as you say, and it's not minimal risk then why is it that these people feel incapable of going into the underground sections themselves to nab a scientist?
It's the same thing as the OP mentioned, waiting for someone else to do all the work then snatching it from them at the last instant.

This is how it's designed. Same can be said about Bloody Bay, I've done this myself solo against a group attacking a firebase, in this case it was far riskier for me.

In Warburg if a group is waiting for a solo player to get a scientist I would guess they are spending more time waiting around than getting the scientist themselves, and if it's a group I can't see this is a good way to get codes; maybe it is for a solo stalker.

The RV pillboxes are a little different, I don't like the design of them overall though I sure they are deliberately designed to be 'open' and quite easily attacked if they aren't defended by a group of players. Tactically they are pretty weak and I think the process of taking them over could be made a little more involved.
