I think Defenders are just fine as they are. Except the inherent, which is pointless.
Replace it with something else and I'll be happy. Hell, I'm happy right now and I just ignore the inherent. -
Yes, a waste for the purpose of FUN.
Fun for some people is being efficient.
Fun for some people is being competent.
And fun for some people is being the opposite of those things.
Fun for some people is picking powers for a concept rather than to "make sense" in gameplay.
Your way of "fun" isn't the only way. You might as well just take away the costumes entirely and make us all look like Illusionists' phantom decoys. Because the costumes don't make us more efficient, and it even WASTES influence to change a costume!
So costumes are a "waste" with your line of thinking. -

Quote:Well see and they smoothed the lvling curve as well. Do you consider yourself the average defender player? You have been around a long time, is this your first defender?
Yes, it is my first defender. And my first time ever playing force fields before.
(sshhhhh!!! quiet guys! I wanna see how long I can keep this going!) -

Quote:That's strange, I'm about halfway through levelling up my FF/Elec SOLO project. I'm actually leveling faster than I ever have before with this character, and all completely solo. And with a primary that doesn't help my damage and a secondary that's considered to be one of the lowest damaging secondaries. Hmmmm....
The reality of the situation is that most defender players have difficulty in the early levels and solo. The exact same reasons controllers got containment.
Sure you "can" build a defender to solo (a Rad/Sonic for example) but those are outliers just like the the Fire/Kin controller is. -
NO, Ultimus, you missed the point of Tony's schpiel. That's not YOUR rep level he's talking about, that's your rep POWER. What power you have to give points to OTHERS. I can make a million posts in these forums in one day, and I won't gain ONE rep point, period.
Rep points ONLY come from OTHERS. -
So then I give 21.... fascinating. I wonder how it DOES go for "negative" rep. As stated above from my experience thus far, I believe it to be a third of positive rep, but is that really the case or is it equal and the people rating me down just have no power compared to those rating me up?
-
-
I don't worry about negative rep, and you shouldn't either. Why? Because the amount of negative rep someone can give you is a THIRD of the amount of positive rep someone can give you.
The whole system is skewed to slowly bring people up. Which means that to actually get a negative rep over time you have to either:
- Ask for it or
- Be a REAL jerkwad.
I personally have received an EQUAL NUMBER of positive and negative rep votes, and look at my score. Proof positive. -

Code? What code, just right click the image and choose Save As, or Right click, copy the URL, and put it into your sig.... I don't understand...
Did you read my tips on the new forum? -
Quote:PK m'dear, fix this image so I can use it in a sig please.
Like this Athyna? And that's WITH all my other text... -
Ah, well in that case remember it's 5 LINES, that means 5 "enters".
Which means your current signature:
Looking for these names on Virtue:
Avalonian, Atlantean, Daystar, Mystery Man
The Global Defenders
Is ALREADY taking up 4 lines! Note the empty line. If you delete those hard enters, it should all be able to fit.
Use the "pipe" instead of a hard enter, it saves space, like in my signature. Try this maybe:
The Global Defenders | Looking for these names on Virtue: Avalonian, Atlantean, Daystar, Mystery Man
That would only take up, one or TWO lines at most, plenty to add an image. -
Quote:In the Signature editor, press this buttonI hate the new forums because my avatar only shows up half the time, and I can't figure out how to put those nifty looking pics in my signature....and yes, PK, I read your sticky, and I still can't figure it out.
and then insert the URL to your picture.

Did you hear the latest news about Billy Mays? He did cocaine. While part of me is shocked about that, part of me is thinking "wow, that explains SO MUCH."
-
So you're saying that the majority of players out there that are LFT constantly are managers, middle managers, or supervisors?
Well then it makes perfect sense why they are totally inefficient at meeting their goals or getting anything done. -

Well, what is farming and what is "normal" play?
If you boil it all down, ALL MMOs, including this one, are doing the same thing, pressing the same buttons over and over again. All MMOs are essentially grinding.
The only difference is in the DEGREE of variety in CONTENT that you run. That's it.
Fundamentally, farming and playing are identical. The only difference is the window dressing.
Now that the new issue will come with a team slider, I will be able to let go of the last of my irrational hate of farmers... because they'll no longer have any more reason to bug me anymore.
They can farm their same mission over and over again, and I can go around doing my variety of missions, pushing the same buttons over and over again.
My mother is addicted to casino slot machines. It's an addiction, and she won't admit to it. This addiction costs lots and lots of money to sit at the same machine every day with flashing lights and pretty noises. I have picked up the same addictive tendencies that she has, only my addictions are MUCH less expensive. I sit at the same machine every day with flashing lights and pretty noises pushing the same buttons. $15 a month however is a LOT less than she pays, and I get the same enjoyment.
