Don't be a wallflower and expect teams to come to you. Form your OWN teams.
Hey, here's a helpful guide!
You're just lucky I read past the word "WoW". -
Well it sure is a good thing that language is dynamic, mutable, and ever-changing, now isn't it? It is wierd that I hate dolphins?

I think we're actually seeing something analogous to that in the modern terrorist culture. Using low tech solutions to attempt to attack a high tech culture. Fascinating stuff.

Quote:As I understand it from the HeroCon stuff, this IS the way it is... the Resistance are "heroes" and the Loyalists are "villains".... but not in the clear cut sense that they are in Primal Earth. Please, no Resistance=Hero, Loyalist=Villain.
Please, no Resistance=Hero, Loyalist=Villain.
Please, no Resistance=Hero, Loyalist=Villain.
Please, no Resistance=Hero, Loyalist=Villain.
...
From what I understand, the whole point of Going Rogue is to explore the shades of gray. Emperor Cole controls Praetoria with an iron fist in a velvet glove. He BELIEVES that he is doing what's right, by controlling everything to "ensure the people of Praetoria a better life".... sort of a Fidel Castro angle where the dictator is in power... in his mind at least... as a "servant of the people".
Whereas the Resistance is more about freedom from control. They are the classic liberals, known today as libertarians and anarchists. And the story of the Resistance will explore both the good of that AND the bad. Especially on the anarchist bent. Because without ANY rules, without ANY control... with pure chaos as your only goal... it is certainly not a safe world. In fact the world envisioned by the Resistance is a world that is more unsafe than Kings Row at night for the citizens. A sort of wild west where you have to protect yourself because no one else out there will protect you.
From what I've seen and heard, you take the concepts found in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles and reverse them. Where in Paragon City, the control is subtle and is democratically chosen by the people... in Praetoria the control is obvious and overbearing and run by a "benevolent tyrant". Where in the Rogue Isles freedom is allowed to an absurd amount... as long as you don't try to usurp Recluse's reign, in the Resistance freedom goes even further where freedom is rampant, but since you're in exile from the established state... freedom is bittersweet. I imagine those living in the resistance as being similar to the resistance fighters in Demolition Man, fighting and scraping to just meet their BARE essentials... while in the upper world controlled by Cole, everyone's basic needs are easily met.
So it's not exactly black or white, it's shades of gray... only with the roles switched. Whereas in Primal Earth freedom is seen as bringing peace and plenty, and Praetorian earth freedom is bringing suffering and pain to the resistance. Whereas in Primal Earth the dictatorial control of Recluse ironically brings about a certain lawlessness, in Praetorian Earth the dictatorian control of Cole brings about a completely controlled state.
I'm using too many words to try to explain this.... but I don't know how else to. Sorry.
Let me try a shorter version:
Centralized Control: Rogue Isles, Loyalists
Decentralized Control (Democracy): Paragon City, Resistance
Safety: Paragon City, Loyalists
Freedom: Rogue Isles, Resistance
Yeah, I think that about does it. -
There is a reason why I only have one villain that I played to 50. And even he isn't really evil, just "misunderstood".

I was just researching Rhode Island for fun tonight when I ran across a certain line in the Wikipedia entry:
Quote:So..... Rhode Island, where Paragon City resides, the City of HEROES, was once actually called the "Rogue's Island"?????In 1636, Roger Williams, after being banished from the Massachusetts Bay Colony for his religious views, settled at the tip of Narragansett Bay, on land granted to him by the Narragansett tribe. He called the site Providence and declared it a place of religious freedom. Detractors of the idea of liberty of conscience sometimes referred to it as "Rogue's Island".[13]
Shocking! The devs may hate villains, but apparently some of Paragon City's earliest founders LOVED "Going Rogue". -

People of Praetoria, look around you, what do you see?
You see clean streets. You see a strong working infrastructure. You see yourselves secure from random crime.
But what else do you see?
Do you see the monotonous routines of the drones that go to their government jobs every day? Do you see any joy or life in the eyes of those that maintain the city's framework? Do you see any works of art aside from the propaganda of the so-called "Emperor" Cole? Do you see the brutality and torture that goes on behind closed doors all in the name of "order"?
Look at your own life, what do you see?
Are you really living? Are you really alive? Or are you simply organic machines, just as lifeless and OBEDIENT as the clockwork monstrosities that roam the streets... living only to fulfill your purpose as another tiny cog in the giant machine of the state?
I have seen real life, my friends, and you are not living life. Life is not clean, it is not sterile, and it is not monotonous. Life is not safe, is not organized, is not controlled.
Life is free. Life is dirty. Life is ugly and beautiful all at once. Life is dynamism and disorder.
And most importantly, life is freedom. Freedom from tyranny, freedom from control, freedom from the trite and the tired.
Life is freedom, freedom is life.
So I ask you again to look around you, and what do you see? Are you really alive? Are you really living? Or are you a slave to a dictator, working daily to ensure that his empire doesn't crumble.
Join us, fight for your freedom. Fight for a LIFE, not this pale mockery of one. Don't be obedient, don't be a slave.
No hay vida sin libertad, ni libertad sin vida.
Pas de vie sans liberté, pas de liberté sans la vie.
No life without freedom, no freedom without life.
I am awaiting your contact on the Undrn3t.
Your brother in life and freedom, -ph1L0t1x

Pure white. For all powers except Detention Field, which will be bright red.
-
The character himself will always be directly tied for Force Fields, that's simply that.
And I'm not really trying to "prove" anything, except maybe to prove to myself that I'm not spoiled by vet powers perhaps.
EDITED to add: Would it makes sense for Magneto to all of a sudden become a plant controller in Age of Apocalypse even? I think not. -
So, I was playing PK for the first time in AGES in order to "prove a point" to Ultimo_ and it really made me miss the little guy. It's been over a year since I "killed him", but that was officially on the Protector Shard. He still exists as a level 50 on Freedom and Justice as well, and on every other sever at various low levels to preserve the name.
So I made a decision. After over a year of not playing him for any real period of time, I'm bringing him back - on Champion this time.
But I'm going to play him JUST AS IF I was a new player, meaning no vet powers, pack powers, etc. Just as if I had just bought the main game without anything else.
Now I know that I have all sorts of experience with this guy already, and I can never get rid of that experience... but it HAS been a year, I AM rusty... and just to mix it up a little bit more, I decided to pick a blast set that I'm unfamiliar with - Radiation.
So, while I have extensive experience with Force Fields itself... I figure by "gimping" myself and not using any "special" powers and also picking a new secondary set for me, I'll come as close as I possibly can to the "new player experience".
I'll update you all on my progress and my stories if you wish, but needless to say, I'm level 2 and all I've got to say right now is that my power tray is looking scarily empty:
So watch for me on Champion if any of you want to team with me.
-
I know what at least HALF of the playerbase wants to see.... though they may not be able to admit it....
....Sister Psyche extended animated bubble bath scene.
Westley!

O RLY? I'm in the former category and I'm still around.... over 5 years and going strong. So there goes that theory.

Was this popmenu thing something that was added along with the extra trays? Because I don't remember us having the ability to mod ANY part of our UI in that way before aside from Vidiotmaps.
So what else is there that's moddable by third party developers? -
I don't see why people feel the need for constant "improvement". Is that some sort of obsessive compulsive disorder?
-
Quote:It is? Really? What about the MA + SSK? I'd say that gets pretty damn close.
Regardless, completely limitless content is currently outside the realm of possibility for the technology
Now the QUALITY of that content may be debatable, but the quality is essentially infinite. -
So... you've already gone through all of the content that has been added in the last year within a month's time? Really???
-
Hey there everyone. I was just popping in to remind you that you are all doomed:
Have a nice day.

Quote:wut?
you're FF primary, that's not any damage assistance at all. That would be why you couldn't do a thing against the guy. -
HA! I just noticed pohsyb "hidden".
This gets better every time I see it.
