  1. To add to numbers if this thread is being read - I agree with the critisms about the EU account holders being arbitrarily having their globals changes rather than by veteran level.

Was there not something similar to this concerning retaining names of toons in periods of inactivity? Can something a little more fairly been done along the lines that this finally ended up being i.e. no loosing name if subs up to date etc.

I think the examples listed about inactive accounts used for 1 month at go live in USA vs full time fully paid up Eu account and the EU account loosing out are totaaly valid points personally.

    I think this needs a re-think.
  2. I'm up for this if you can get enough interest in it.
  3. Take care Rabbit - will miss seeing you about, even if I not teamed much with you, I'm sure I have badge hunted and TF'ed with you on occasion and had a good time.

I'm on and off myself lately, lot out at the moment new games wise, and keep get a hankering to get back into Oblivion, maybe also as a pre-cursor to Dragon Age Origins.

  5. I was thinking of trying to set up a heal farm using PVP Gladiator matches in the arena overnight and during the day while at work.

To do this, you need the second Longbow Warden gladiator as this is the ideal one that can heal, I think there may be 1 or 2 others, but nothing that I have read that is really useable. I think 2 Longbow Wardens is felt to be the right balance I think.

The rest of the gladiator team make-up, I have heard conflicting ideas on, from large number of low value gladiators, to using the Neuron robots that tick radiation damage over time.

Map wise, the cargo ship is thought of as being best for crowd control and keeping all toons in range of the Longbow heals.

My aim would be to set this going on a last man standing match overnight and during the day while at work and hoping that the matches don't end up with a winner so that they just keep healing away until people get home in the evening and get back to using their computers.

Ideally then, you have to be comfortable with leaving your pc running unattended, but even if this was just overnight before leaving home in the morning, there would still be potentially 7 or 8 good hours farming, and all that assumes you don't get a match winner by accident.

Start time, I would be flexible, and happy to start from say 11pm to 12pm GMT.

So, if anyone is interested, leave a note here or contact me in game on @War Man and lets see if we can get ourselves some heal badges

    STF EU record.

Well done on that. Would love to take part in a good quick STF to see how its done.
  7. Good luck on the Hami raid.

I would have liked to have been there with Odins Son to remind of the good old days, but I cant make it due to real life commitments.

Hope you have an enjoyable and successful raid though everyone.
  8. This is a good idea to get the heal badges. My badge toon is on Defiant and I have done the gladiator matches to try to farm heals.

From what I have seen myself, the Warburg alt idea is good, from memory, with kills, logging off and on, 4 or 5 alts is ideal per player to get around the timer issue of not getting a rep point for repeat kill inside 10 minutes. Find it best to have inspirations full of wakeys, just to avoid having to go to hospital.

Also, I think there is a Rep bonus possible if one toon with a low rep score gets a kill gainst a toon with a higher rep skill. i think the bonus was 5 rep points and I think the gap had to be 20 rep points. With only 2 people, you cannot get nor maintain such a gap if you each have roughly the number of alts involved, but it will act as a good boost if 1 toon achieves the 400 needed and another toon is just starting out and can log kills against the toon with the 400 rating.

On the gladiators themselves, the Longbow healers attacks have knockback, which means when Longbows on opposing teams start healing and attacking, they themselves can suffer knockback and their radius heals do not reach their teammates.

Also, low ranking gladiators to heal do run the risk therefore of dieing before being healed and you need more than just the Longbow doing attacks to cause damage to heal, so you run the risk of one side beating the other by loosing squishy gladiators over time, even on a match set to kill all to win.

You may be able to fix this if you get some gladiators to attack 1 tough target, I don't know, I have not experimented enough yet.

I have heard that the Neuron robots are good for damage as they tick relatively low rad damage that I have heard works well, and Im not sure, but may not be knockback. They do cost a bit though, when taken with Longbow Warden too, not much left over to spend.

Map wise, a nice tight map to avoid knockback effects works best I have found. My favourite I have found so far is the ship map. There is a dead end oblong passage, which at the maps edge, each side facing each other along the long edges of this oblong, at the blue map edge, not the entrance, works well.

I would like to try more of the maps, but when I recently tried 2 accounts in window mode in the arena in Pocket D, my computer kept locking up for some strange reason when the match went to start.

Anyway, good luck if you get this to work, be interested in any good hints and tips you find.
  9. Got a 48 or 49 I think on the new course.

Thanks for all the Kins buffing.

I used the dual build and went 6 slotted Super speed, Swift and oone of the standard run powers, I forget which.

ALso took aid other for 2 account heal badge farming too so I can get the heal badges on my Tank badge toon without relying on tricky gladiator fights. Im thinking of doing this on the rescue Stateman mission with one toon taking damage in lava and healing him...

Sorry to go a bit off topic
  10. I think an auto email of a failed payment should have been sent to you. That does not sound like too much of a systems stretch to me and a good suggestion to their billing system.

8 days sounds a long time to wait if a cash payment was made into what I'm assuming is NC Soft's Natwest account, assuming this was in cash. A cheque could take 5 days, plus 1-3 days processing by NC Soft I guess may be reasonable given the likely volumes they have.

Just my views for what they are worth.

    Updated manual

Given there have been, and are a lot of updates coming through, especially with issue 13 dual builds, merits for recipes etc, is there a plan to release an updated City Of Heroes & Villians manual?

Either an updated pdf or a web based manual would be good.

  13. I hooe to be there to pay my respects. I knew Mighty as I'm sure a lot of people did.

    Rest in peace.

    Remember me?

Welcome back mate, good to see you back.
  15. Another MoSTF completed thanks to Kung-Fu Steve for organising and leading it along with the others from the Supernation SG who took part. Sorry if anyone else in the team not from Supernation - its getting late and I did not check before we exited mission.

Anyway, was an amazing run, with no real hiccups, all in all, a good well played team. Thanks all.
  16. Please don't knock Lui. I owe him all my sidekick badges on my badge toon Odins Son.
  17. I'm not keen on the whole inevitable dieing thing just to have a chance to succeed. Personal opinion, not very heroic or rewarding in my book. The repetitive guaranteed respawning as well with no chance of overcoming it with initiative, as was mastered in the old style raid also puts me off.

Not too interested in fueling a old style/new style debate necessarily but just my views.

For what it is worth, I enjoyed the community spirit of the old raids and targeting using my toon Odins Son. I may have been one of the more rewarding roles on offer to the 100+ people that used to attend but people did overall seem to have fun.

What would make you return to CoH?:
I have never left. More level 50 content and new powersets would be nice.
A return of the old style hami raids would be nice, I miss the get togethers we used to have.
  19. Grats Shinro, nice to see you back ingame too.
  20. Sorry to hear you leaving Cap. Enjoyed the Hami raids that all went well.

Hope you pop back but if you don't good luck in RL and in your next game.
  21. I earned this in Warburg (as you can go hero on hero) with someone and we were both switching between our in Warburg lvl range toons to earn it.

That way, your main badge toon's timer can go down as you are logging in and out with alts for the other person.

It takes an age, with 3-4 toons in lvl range acting as your main badge toon + your alts, I remember taking about 2 to 3 hours to earn from nil rep to 400 with someone who had 2 accounts logging in 3 to 5 toons.

I think you get 5 rep bonus for beating someone with a 20+ better rep than you (normal timer allowing). I forget but this may also need 5 kills in a row too? You would need to test it as it has been a while for me.

But the way the maths works, the 5 rep bonus will not be earnable if you are both starting from zero rep as neither of you can pull away to get the 20+ differential going.

I think it would allow you to earn the badge quicker 2nd time around on your alts though, if these alt toons did not get any kills until your main badge toon got the badge, as the main badge toon would then have a much higher rep than the alts, who could benefit from the +5 rep bonuses.
  22. Well done and thanks for organising it Callista. Interesting to be on the other side of the jelly this time too as Hami tank for a change.

I don't think Issue 9 will hit this week so we may get one more in if there is the interest. I know I would be up for another.
  23. Was a nice smooth raid, at least from where I was.

Was actually fun with being asked to clear an area at the south for the Hami team (just after that wipe I think), spiced it up a bit and made it a bit more interesting for me targetting and doing my own thing.

Even executed going back for a yellow one I missed over on the west side before finishing off the east and south east.

Was a big difference to have one go smoothly and without the problems on broadcast.

If we don't get to do another pre Issue 9, it has been good targeting while it lasted and I want to thank everyone I teamed with and who has taken part.
