Lies. TheNet is Ghost Vision who is Golden Girl who murdered Colonel Custard in the Lingerie Closet with a Hairpin.
  2. Perfect World owns Champions Online currently and are parents to any licensing rights of Cryptic Studios.

City of Heroes is their direct competition.
  3. I'm having the issue where when I try to run demorecords the client launches but never fully loads.

    Anyone else having this issue?

I've tried to record and run some demos but the current client doesn't seem to like that.

It's one way I could at least "preserve" my characters in action and then use Blender to do some nice rendering and depth of field.

I cannot confirm or deny this.

    Until November 30th.
  8. Still trying to find a work around to make 3DX Ripper work. If someone is running on Windows XP or is using DirectX 9 it's a possible they could go through each zone and carefully "rip" the models so they could be recreated in Blender.

You guys would honestly talk about what was in the trash, daily?
  10. I plan to slither off to some dark corner of the internet and spawn a new online identity for myself as I do with each MMO I go to.
  11. Woofers is the bee barking dog of Paragon City.
  12. So... wait... I might got modd'ed come Tuesday?

    ****.

    No wait - awesome.

Tried launching with a few different commands.

Hell, I couldn't even get the brief demorecord I ran to launch.

    Curse you Windows 7!

These people might be useful I remember seeing a thread when exploring Dead Space stuff (because I wanted to find a way to listen to the hidden bits of text and voice that I might have missed during the game):
    forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5966&start=15

I think the 3D Ripper DX one had a capability to save all models attached to something as one big one, so you could save a Zone as one big flat model with all the buildings etc attached to it, which I can imagine wouldn't be great for playing due to performance issues or something but could be a nice way to get a working mockup of the zones to make sure they are fully preserved to be recreated later, similar to an architect's little model buildings? If that doesn't do it, there must be a program that can?

Also the .demo files when you do /demorecord filename in City Of, they record the exact co-ordinates location of every object, even in missions...

So if people ran with demorecord on missions from start to finish they could make them re-creatable later even after the game has gone though it still wouldn't have the scripted events people could work out times from them, especially if say Paragonwiki started having a subpage for demo files for every mission on there to get multiple copies from different people so that the timings on spawns etc could be easy to work out
Tried using it - unfortunately you can't launch CoH directly (that I am aware of) and my computer is not 32BIT, so I can't run Global Monitoring Mode.
  15. You have to understand - as I've come to understand it - is that any MMO, in this case, is a simulated environment that has allowed you to better explore yourself, perhaps without realizing it.

Don't walk away thinking "a part of me has died," but instead walking away knowing "I have grown."
  16. I almost -almost- cried. Beautiful.
  17. By using a semi-forgotten about feature: demorecord.

That's right - I'd suggest - if possible - doing some "silent" runs off all the major tf's, story arcs, and iTrials and /demorecording them. Later on they can be edited into videos and shared via Youtube. This way when the game is still gone we can still watch & relive those arcs.
  18. I strongly recommend to all of you to run your arcs and use /demorecord

IIRC, the servers don't need to be up for your client to run a demorecord file - that way you could always film it and share it via Youtube.
  19. I hope you all back up and save your MA files and find a way to share them

I believe the idea to create a new engine and "wrap" the content of CoH around it.

The old engine is hard to update because it is so bug riddled and many of the original people who coded it left and didn't leave notes.

Just look at the whole base system.
