Quote:Ah, but they referred to each other by those names, even when they were meeting alone (i.e. Sophia always always called Simon, Simon, and Tomas, Tomas - those were their names.)Well, the ones that came to Earth 50-60 years ago were sent to blend in. Certainly they're smart enough to learn other languages, many others, as you just pointed out Sophia fluently spoke English and one from Asia. As for their names, again, they chose those to blend in. Better to name yourself "Simon" than "Gorlok".

Quote:I knew something was up earlier in the season when Sophia was on the lam the first time and she bumped into that Asian man on the street and spoke to him fluently in his native language. We have to sit through most of the season (and that idiotic break in between) with the idea that these 'aliens' look exactly like us and speak English fluently from the start... only to find out they were here before us on the last few episodes.
I also pointed out to my friend - if they're an alien race - why do they speak English and have Anglo-Saxon names? -

Son: "Mommy, what is that?"
CM: "Home...!"
No, sweetie, that is NOT the Dominican Republican orbiting Earth. -
Part of me wishes the forums were somehow integrated with the ingame UI.

From Wikipedia about the film:
"A film about the Three Stooges, simply titled The Three Stooges, is currently in development with 20th Century Fox[28] and will be directed by the Farrelly Brothers." -
My understanding is that it is a biopic.
Originally Sean Penn and Jim Carrey (and a third I forget) were attached, but left the project. -
I think she's actually a Sentinel.
But you know what?
WE'LL NEVER GET TO KNOW.
If we're really lucky they'll do a direct to DVD movie - like they did with "Dead Like Me" - to sort of wrap it up for the fans.
I've also heard that rumor that Netflix(?) might pick up the series. -
...let's rephrase the question then.
How have your Incarnate Powers changed YOU? -
Quote:One model I saw that liked was tiered.
So F2P can reach level 50, but it will be harder to accomplish and have very little to do themselves.- 15-30 contacts (The issue with restricting contacts is then you just leave free accounts to "street sweep" to level - and when you get that timed mission where you have to defeat 30 Carnies in 15 minutes?)
- 30-40 contacts (see above.)
- 40-50 contacts (see above.)
- Incarnate (As stated earlier (albeit after this was originally posted,) I could see this being a subscriber-only feature.)
- Radio/Newspaper also for sale in level tiers (You have to leave the free players something to grind!)
- Tip missions as well (Along the lines of side-switching, AE, Blackmarket, etc. I can agree with this being subscriber only content and/or limited purchase-ables.)
- Access to TF individually for sale (Some of these TF's are "core content" about the main storyline of CoH/CoV and I'm a bit iffy with the idea of making them purchase-ables.)
- Limited market slots (can buy more) (Agreed.)
- Limited costume slots (can buy more) (Agreed.)
- Limited character slots (can buy more) (Agreed.)
- Low influence cap, you can buy bigger wallets. (2 millon cap?)

That final moment with The _________ wife - I was like "I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT!!!"

I generally play at 4/x2 on my Plant/Thorn Dominator and 4/x3 on my Emp/Dark Defender with my iPowers now.
-
Well, we have 5 slots left to unlock and 7 more "hypothetical" levels. I'm going to take a guess that the Omega Slot will be granting four, if not five, of those last "hypo-levels."

But... but... I wrote my college sociology report on stuff I found written in cemeteries and public rest rooms!

Oh? I need to citate (since I'm "pro-F2P" in this discussion) but those who are "anti-F2P' don't? Really?
Let me throw some "citations needed" out here for you:
Quote:Cryptic's demise(dismissal by Atari) reaffirms that F2P is a different class than paid subscriptions.
Quote:Of course there are people that don't see it that way, but that's been the majority view ( accurate or not, it's the perception that exists) in pretty much every case.

If that's the game you want to play, where, since you don't agree with me I need to provide citations for my statements - you can play that game alone.
What hasn't been happening is any constructive dialogue going on (here and there) - and yes, I've been a bit stubborn.
We can pretend to state opinions as fact and hold them as truth, or,when we offer them up we can choose to present them as opinions or general understandings
*Honestly, spend an hour in Atlas Park on a Saturday and you'll see that we (the playerbase, in general) are quite the opposite. -
Quote:It's not that subscription MMO's can't transition to F2P (and it has been done successfully,) it's just has to be done delicately.Which is why I was specific in mentioning "subscription games going F2P". Games that start life as F2P are a completely different animal.
But again, this thread isn't about that. This thread is about what sort of F2P model you would build for CoH if it went F2P, not should it, or will the game fail if it does or, DOOOOOOM.

Quote:There's a also a majority perception that F2P MMO's are the way of the future and can engender and create thriving robust communities. It's just a matter of how it's done.I dont think he's talking about the current CoH community, but the more general community of MMO interested people out there. And I'm inclined to agree with him, based on my wanderings in other generic MMO sites. Consolidating servers and subscription games going F2P are generally regarded as the proverbial canary in the coal mine developing a serious cough.
Of course there are people that don't see it that way, but that's been the majority view ( accurate or not, it's the perception that exists) in pretty much every case. -
Quote:It will only be seen that way by the portions of the community that would see it as such. The same ones that see 'DOOM' written in the clouds passing by over head, or in the laughter of a newborn, or every time a new patch comes out.If CoH goes F2P at this point in it's history, it WILL be seen by the online community as being an indication that the game is going under. Especially with the recent events occurring with our competition being fresh in people's minds. They see one game that went F2P after trying subscriptions fail miserably, the are going to assume that the same thing is happening here. You're not going to convince an internet community that what they saw in one case isn't the same thing they are seeing in another, especially when they have no reason to believe otherwise.
