  2. If you want to solo,but would like blasting powers, why not create an illusion/kinetics controller. My pets often blast more than some of my blaster friends

    Good point mate, however, being a kinetics defender I remember the characters who have shouted, "WHAT KIND OF HEALER DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?"

  4. I haven't started on COV yet, but I checked some of the info leaked out, and I noticed, NO EMPATHY.

    If this is true who agrees with me that this can only be a good thing. Teams might have to plan more for a fight rather than shout at the defender or controller HEAL PLEASE.

    I can't stand teams that think there is only one way to do a mission, and that's with a "healer"

    Empathy is fabulous and there are a few empathic defenders and controllers in my SG. However don't think that HEALING is their only role, albeit an important facet to their character.

    My opinions about this may change when starting COV .

    You become a very good team around lvl 18 with phantom army, which I've opened against ArchVillains and survived.
  7. Siphon speed is the way to go, I seem not to notice the reduced recharge of Phantom army because of its recharge.
  8. I6 seems fun, I played out my new build and I have about nine powers to hit, from Phantom Army to begin to cope with alpha strike, to AOE hold, followed by Fulcrum shift, etc
    Phew fast, frentic and yes fun!

    Teamed with a couple of very good kineticists (Mimic and Lycon). Both have massive accuracy, as they had little else to do with the slots. This did mean Lycon (for example) could come into my mission at -4 and still hit things...

    It is probably overkill, but I have leadership (only 3, building for ED) and 2 Acc in all my attacks/targeted buffs. For normal missions you won't need this (you'll be running into the 5% miss chance at this point) but for PvP or the odd occasion where you face things 3 or more levels above you ... you need it.

    Myproblem with accuracy was the fact that I mission +3s and I was missing with the introduction to I6, however trailed double slotting and I rarely miss, so thanks!

    C. Recharge Rate. Never used Hasten -i have an allergy to stuff that people tell me is 'essential' when it isn't (and red pompoms just aren't me, darling!). I have always used a combination of recharge enhancements and (mostly) siphon speed. The boost from siphon speed is noticeable, especially with slow charging powers (transferrence), and I can confirm it remains useful well past the teens (not least because it can take the edge off hold resistant bosses etc very nicely.

    thanks for the response, I thought that was just me with the aversion to MUST HAVES. If I ever see a little used archetype I try to buff them to hell.

    Ok I'm the leader so your job is to hit me with heal for the entire level.

    Where's the fun in that? Tell you what perhaps I can buff you first so you won't need healing as much... too late you're dead.

  13. Being a kinetics controller I've had some bad comments like:

    "What kind of healer are you?"
    reply stunned silence.

    "Hey there SPEED PLEASE"
    reply "sorry mate it only lasts a short while, what do you mean you havent got a travel power?"

  14. Ok everyone, here's my problem, I currently play a lvl40 Illusion/Kinetics controller that has been great fun to play up until now. With the advent of Issue 6 and the changes to enhancements, I see a lot of thought needs to go into my slotting. Due to these changes, there are many possibilities I can go with.

    A Accuracy, I have always had Tactics 6 slotted to the point that I rarely miss with one Acc in each of my attacks. Issue 6 will mean I'm going to test 2 acc slots in Blind and SW. One each in my other powers and secondary Kinetic buffs, will this be enough?


    B Damage, ok I have seen on the US servers people suggesting reducing damge enhancements because of Fulcrum Shift. Issue 6 will mean I am going to reduce damage enhancements to as little as possible, perhaps only in Phantom army and Phantasm.This does not seem as much a problem.

    C. Recharge Rate. Hasten has always been 6 slotted and it has been great. However with I6 will I need to respec in Siphon speed to improve recharge, or will I need to add recharge enhancements to each of my powers Hope not.
    I used Siphon speed in my teens, but I havent got a clue if this is enough to warrant choosing it again for its power rate recharge.


    Endurance Recovery.
    Transference has meant I have not had end worries although f u ever saw me running around, my end was only half full.
    I6 Will I get away with not stamina, so room for other fun powers?

    As I said, I might be testing out various configurations, but a little advice from those people who no more about slotting would be thankfully received.

    Playing my illusionist, there have been many times prior to lvl 32 when I couldn't form a team, never had problems soloing. But then I enjoy my character concept, so I didn't compare kills per hour with other archetypes.
    Play a controller, they're great.
  16. I wonder if all this will change with issue 6, because you might not be able to rely on the damage of one ability.
  17. It shouldnt be about just damage. My Phantasm allows me to solo +3 so I can't begin to imagine life without him.
