I think what they will do is to get enough infl to get thier enhancements, then go into SG mode. 50's will just go perma-SG most likely. But there will be less handing down of influence, which as I stated, is my opinion as to why they did it this way.

I don't know about you, but I've NEVER had "tens of millions" of influence...EVER. Also, what difference does it make how much influence you make? The amount of prestige doesnt change. It's apples and oranges anyway. They're used for entirely separate purposes and can't be interchanged.

What is your highest level character?
At one time or another, each of my 50's has had close to 20 mil, and my 40 is at 7 mil. And from what I understand from others that level...I'm poor.
And yes, the main reason none of them are over 10 mil anymore is because I've given it to lower level SG members. Of course, two respecs is as amny moths doesn't help that either. -

Do they mean you stop receiving infamy or you get less in SG mode, as you get higher in level ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Both. It tapers down as you increase in level until it reaches zero around level 35.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why?
This doesn't seem to make much sense to me ... we have our low-mid level characters struggling to pay for enhancements - and high level characters who have influence / infamy they can't use. Running in SG mode makes the low-mid level characters struggle even more as part of their inf is prestige ... and the high level characters can't contribute to prestige.
I would think this would discourage high level characters from being in supergroup mode and I thought the idea was to have everyone feel like they were contributing to the group.
edited to add ... my lvl 47 hero was logged in yesterday and we were earning 4 prestige for a white minions and 12 for orange lts so if it is supposed to be 0 prestige at level 35, there is a bug in the system.

Because once you hit around level 35, you start making influence hand-over-fist. You rake it in big time. By doing this, the devs stop two things:
1) High level characters making tens of millions of infl and converting it to prestige. This is supported (I think) by the horrid exchange rate they've put on it (1:500).
2) Stops high level heroes from accumulating literally tens of millions and handing it down to lower level characters.
This is my view alone, but think about it... -
Here are a couple problems with this if it goes in this way:
For reference: LoneS.T.A.R. Honor Guard
1) In the above picture are members of between 3-5 SG's. They are all based on LoneSTAR, but we have split into several other SG's to accommodate the alts of players. They are some mains and some alts depending on the player in question. Because of the number of members in our SG, we cannot fit all of our heroes and alts in one SG. Just our SG dedicated to level 50 heroes has 40-45 members in it. The one for our mains is full at 75. And there are 3 other teams for alts. Will you increase the SG limits to accommodate large SG's?
2) The LoneSTAR SG uniform requires 4 colors (Red, White, Blue, Gold). The SG costume option only allows for 2 colors. This would greatly hamper us in our chosen appearance. Will you expand the SG costume options to include 4 color choices?
3) Most SG's in the comics do not have a like uniform or colors. In fact, very few actually do. Forcing the SG's that choose not to use this feature into having to use it is not only detrimental to their chosen way to play, but not supported in the very medium upon which this game is based.
4) Isn't this somewhat counter to the whole idea of having this great and extremely flexible costume creation system if you are telling the heroes they must be in SG mode in order to maintain a base?
5) Since you, Lord Recluse, point out that just being in SG mode does not get you prestige, I assume you mean we need to be grouped and/or gaining XP. This, once again, smacks of forced grouping. This is a very bad and highly unpopular idea. Please refrain from doing this if it is in fact what you had planned. -
If this is true, and I think it is not, I just wish they would stop implemeting policies and procedures that force the players to play the game how Statesman wants them to play. I feel like we are continually being told "You will play the game how I want you to play the game, or I will implement rules and restrictions that force you too. And if you figure out a more efficient way to play than what I want, I will slap you down with my nerf bat." This would just be another step in that direction.
Actually, even is SG mode you can set your hero to look exactly as they do normally...except for the chest logo. So you could run in SG mode literally ALL the time and still look the same. So we could ALL get one hell of a base. We would just have to put up with a SG emblem on our chest at all times but look as we normally do otherwise.
One more thing...if all the heroes in the game are running around in SG mode, then that more or less defeats the purpose of their character creator tools that they are so proud of. Why have all those options if they want the herores to all look the same?
I just think there are too many reasons for them NOT to do this...which means they probably will. -
Well...here's my take on this:
I've spent the better part of level 48 in debt. On the live server. Why? AV hunting. Now, I'm a regen scrapper. That means that, yes, I am running IH all the time while doing this. Still dying...a lot.
[sarcasm] Good thing they are getting rid of this incredibly overpowering power. [/sarcasm]
If they are going to gut our defenses (and it seems that they are), then we are going to need the 1/2 debt just to avoid perma-debt. There are going to be a LOT more deaths after I5, so I think they simply "threw us a bone" with this. That, or they are trying to not make the debt seem not as bad because it would only remind us of how weak we are going to become.
Frankly, if you put roll up your sleeves and play the game, you find that debt, in it's current form, goes away pretty quickly. I didn't really see it as a problem. Pre-level 10, it only takes 15-20 mins to get out of debt. In fact, at level 48 I can remove debt from one defeat in about 20-30 mins...faster on a team.
Just my opinion of course, but I liken it to this: "We are going to hit you in the groin with a baseball bat, but here's a jock strap so it won't hurt as bad. Of course, you can only use the jock strap if you play the game the way that we want you to." -
Here's my entry:

States, I hate to be rude, but if you seriously think that an electric blaster's drain can be helpful againest an AV, you obviously have never played one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Let's not put words in my mouth here...a SINGLE electric blaster DOES drain endurance from an AV. BUT definitely not enough to make an impact. All secondary effects against AV's are resisted...it takes several electric blasters to make an appreciable dent in an AV (just like it takes many heroes to bring one down).
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, not to dispute you, but that's not quite accurate either...
I DID solo Dr. Vazhilok with my elec/elec blaster at level 20. So that part is doable, and I certainly am not complaining about the AT overall, but my ability to drain his end was a complete non-issue. So I agree with you on that point...one elec blaster, by themself, has no useful secondary because end drain is minimal at best. I can take them out before the "minimal" end drain even becomes a factor.
For example: At one point, Vazh did go down to 0 end...his doing, not mine...and I ran up to him with Lightning Field up hoping to keep his end down and finish him off toe-to-toe. That may be about the hardest I got hit up to that point (except for when I got one punched by a level 41 Rikti ambush in Steel Canyon). He recovered end enough to really lay a smackdown on me and make me run away to rest (before finishing him off in the second battle) despite my having Lightning Field and Electric Fence on him and hitting him with all my other "endurance draining" attacks. Admittedly, I do not have Short Circuit, but so far I haven't seen the benefits of end drain. -

And this high level player will be able to pull the mob out of the wall for you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sometimes.
Teleport foe will usually be able to pull them out.
I also have a PBAoE power (Lightning Field) that allows me to stand beside the bad guy that's stuck in the wall and beat him that way. I've used the power this way a few times. -
This would be a good thing.
This morning, at 19th level, I am done with all but one of my contacts, and the new contacts won't give me anything until I hit level 20. So I went to this one contact and got a mission; went to the mission; entered; prepped for battle; only to be faced with level 14 Vazhilok. I've already finished the vazh story arc, so I really had no reason to do this mission, and got no xp due to their level, but had to finish it so I could clear it out of my queue. Granted, it didn't take long, but it was still frustrating to have to go thru it just to clear it.
I know, I could have done the Exemplar thing, but I just wanted to clear it out and be done with it. I don't like to team for only one mission unless absolutely necessary. Besides, it would most likely take longer to get the help (not a ton of level 14ish people in KR) than it did to just do it.
Just another reason to be able to clear a mission from our queue. -
Y'know, this could all be as simple as them coming up with some type of "aetheric energy" explosion that causes the powers to change in certain heroes. This could be their explanation for why there are so many changes in the powers happening with Issue#2. There may be nothing more than a newspaper statement like the announcement about capes and Hero-1.
Wait and see what it is before getting too excited. -
Wow. I may actually start playing my tankers again. This would be real cool since that, in comic book form, is my favorite AT.

I missed the end of beta thing because of work. I'll probably miss this due to work. This damn work thing is really getting in the way of my fun!!!
