    'Best' MM?

Leaning hard towards Demons/Thermal because of the massive -regen, status effect protection, and availability of defense from IOsets. I also like the format of the debuff, a simple ranged AoE. It heals, it uses demons, and the two fit like a glove thematically.

    Still open to min/max comments.
  2. Even if Tow would himself use something uniform or srmalloy would use something wide->spindly and I would use something massive, all of us would probably agree that there should be more than one option. So lets not fall into arguing over aesthetics.

With that in mind, it's best to assume we will need to carry a huge wide model to give Dink as much space as possible within which to vary the dimensions of the different weapons. Check out beam rifle. Held higher than the AR she can put stocks on them without clipping badly, she can make them huge and tall away from the character like the DUST cannon, or smaller designs like resistance and the new one we're seeing with Mecha.

Why would it have to be done? My swords swing through things, my mace goes through things, my bullets don't ricochet, but whip needs realism or we can't put it in?

    'Best' MM?

I just finished a thread about a Blapper built blaster for fun, and realized I already have the combo I want and it's already lv50 on another server. Going to be a while before my free transfer comes up, better part of a month, and I was looking for a MM to do.

I have a tendentcy to pick really bad MM sets... I recently quit Ninja/Thermal, and quit Mercs/Something before that and I have a tendency to pick low end builds for my characters. I want one character to be really effective and overpowered. Solo AV's/GM's, stand up to incarnate content, +4x8, etc (Lots of MM can do tha- as easily as possible, then!).

I like Demons. I did not like them when they came out because they all seemed to look the same, but after teaming with some I notice the size and power difference more and the uniformity is actually a bit refreshing now that I've actually played more MM sets. The Oni and Spec Ops looked out of place standing together in their sets. But that doesn't necessarily have to be my primary.

I like heals. I will likely use this character as a badge hunter since MM's heal, solo well, and can allow themselves to take damage/status effect hits with bodyguard. I would prefer to be able to heal to earn those badges naturally.

High end, well played, IO'd and incarnated out... what MM combo has the greatest overall potential? I've heard good things about Bots/FF, Demons/Thermal, and... Anything/Time lol.

    Bio Armor!

You can always poke around on google and find advanced info. Threads like this and the 'leaked sorcery pool' always make me laugh because I knew about them already.

Any or all of it could be pushed back, it could already be slotted behind something else coming sooner, it could be wholly scrapped and never released, or for all we know it could be a set that they use as an example of what they'd like to do if they got some new tech that we won't see for another eight years if ever.

I'm also 70% sure there's a rule out there somewhere that you can't post this kind of info on the official forums.

    Whip Powerset

    Yeah it's come up.

It's also worth noting that it's perfect for Dominators. They have no weapon based sets available to them at this time, but the AT does NOT like redraw. Whip is also already a mix of range and melee like Dominators use and would be a weapon styled set. Could also be used for any melee character of course, just noting the synergy there with Doms.

*Horns: I don't really recall seeing any new horns for a long while. I guess the Organic Armour "horn crown" counts, but we can do more, I'm sure of it.
What horns are we missing? o.o
    We have oodles of horns!

I get that artillery cannons do fire with an arc at long ranges, but this look very silly at the ranges we fire at, making the projectile feel light, with no force behind it.
Dual Pistols called, they said that you're off their buddy list.

I don't think we need a power you have to do over and over to do the red hot shell casing deal. We've already seen how damage can come late in an animation or be delayed after it. It seems like it would be possible to have each attack fire suddenly, impact and deal it's damage to the target suddenly, but have a long animation like ejecting a shell and putting a new one in making you wait for the next attack.

Your double shot 'build up' could be even less complicated to program than TW momentum, in that it would not have to make damage come faster like TW does, it would just have to speed up the animation for a while and the character would reload at a frenzied pace.

The character reloading it could be tricky regardless, since multiple weapons would reload differently. Break action could be done, you just need all the weapons to break at the same point, or maybe shotgun style loaded from underneath could work, again you'd just need the bottom edge of the weapons to be roughly consistent.

    EDIT--
I bet, if they have it in mind from conception, they could even do customized shell casing color on ejection. When you go to power customization, you just pick 'default' for brassy colored shells, 'bright' or 'dark' for glowing shells done like the glowing melee weapon blades are done, or 'metalic' for a metal color pallet of what color the shell widgets are coming out.
Program them like spines rather than like burst/slug, where it calls up a model. The shell would always be there, just hidden inside the gun you're holding. It would be neat when you're see-through in stealth you could see it! XD

  13. New alignment at character creation: Chaotic Neutral.

You may travel as you please between the rogue isles and paragon city, but if not grouped you are openly PvP flagged at all times, but can also cast buffs and heals on all players. You will be zapped by police teleport bots and arachnos guard bots, and will automatically be exemplared to the minimum level of any zone's level range when you load in. On death, you respawn in a new mental hospital building added to Atlas Park and Mercy Island.

If at any time you earn a badge, you recieve a random badge from the full badge list instead.

If at any time you use an inspiration, you recieve the effect of a random inspiration of the same size instead.

When you place an enhancement, it is placed into a random empty slot on that power. If you replace an existing enhancement, all enhancements on that power shuffle positions so your enhancement screen will always be jumbled and your sets always out of order!

If you join a team for an alignment change mission or your leader speaks to a contact and recieves a new mission, there is a chance that you will be the final boss objective.

Other players, including other Chaotic Neutrals, earn badges for sending Chaotic Neutral players back to the assylums by defeating them.
  14. Leaving SS as a link because it's massive

What is this TW and costume on the right? Or is that an NPC boss? I didn't see it on beta when I was poking around with the retro and mecha sets, but I'm at work, maybe it's in the store on beta and is related to the leather/chainmail sets somehow?

There are some claws in the screenshots for i23 as well, also on an NPC, and the beam rifle in one of the shots doesn't look familiar (not the mecha one). Do we have any info on if those will be available to players in any way? A trial, in the store, a new token system, merits, etc?
  15. This was put out by IGN a few days ago. I've been surprised by how many people hadn't heard of it... maybe because I'm a gamer working at night for a sports company... dumb jocks. >.>

    Anyway, check it out.
I drive one of those Smart ForTwo cars haha.

    2) Have you tried playing with head sliders to make the hairdoo fit? - I have had to adjust my cranium a few times for costumes now.
  17. I know I'm probably totally alone in this, but I think the logic behind the crashing T9's is 100% sound, they just don't live up to the scale that logic needs to be on anymore.

If you multiplied their damage by ten or twenty and put them on a set recharge that couldn't be reduced, I would take mine.
  18. Cool thread, going to go back and read it...

The first thing that came to mind was when devs say in general that players 'LOVE' something terrible.

Bashiok has commented on the D3 boards multiple times that players just loooove when stuff pops into useless crap loot, so you have to search the floor full of complete, working-as-intended, intentionally implemented TRASH, to find the one worthwhile item that dropped, and something about 'needing breaks' so they took out in-dungeon systems and made them in-town systems like salvaging magic stuff for crafting parts.

More on topic; I seem to remember a CoH red comment about not allowing weapons that didn't fit. I think it was the shotgun that they wouldn't give to AR because it 'didn't fit' and I was mad, then I was mad again when I came back to the game later and AR had gotten sniper rifles... but it's a faint memory. Couldn't say who said it or when, but that's all I got.

Still want axes for dual blades and full AR selection availability for SoA's.

That character didn't last long, and I have no interest in using those if they're perpetually empty or perpetually full.

Quivers I can see, since they're less of a weapon container and more of an ammo container. It makes sense those would never run out since we never run out of ammo. Holsters that hold handguns, however, NEED to be animated.

Hell, I don't even want holsters per se. I'd be perfectly happy to be able to attach my Titan Sword to my back and run around with it. I'd be perfectly happy to attach my dual handguns to my thighs and run around with them. I don't specifically need holsters. I need persistent weapons.
    Apples and oranges IMO.
We're not looking for weapon effects, just costume parts.

Nothing says the pistol on your side is 'THE' pistol you pull out with dual pistols, or that it has to be used by dual pistols characters. The official belt for example lets you have a pistol and nightstick on your AR character. He would never use them, but his character might carry them 'just in case' or as part of a uniform.

Some can work with power sets even while static, like a samurai style belt with two swords stuck in it.

One version with both swords, one with an empty long scabbard, one with an empty short scabbard, and another one with both empty. You could get the samurai look to go along with any given weapon set of choice, even if you were Katana using a mecha beam saber or TW using a giant Nodachi (which I'm sure they'll put in soon... >.>), you would still want to carry your regular swords.

If you were dual blades and ran around with them out, you might like seeing the two empty scabbards. You can even fake an animation with macro for a costume change emote + build-up to start fights with, that changes to a costume version missing the appropriate swords and also perhaps adds an aura like glowing eyes, burst into flames, whatever you do when you start fighting.
  20. IMO, it should be an over-the-shoulder weapon.

If your arm wraps around it or it's hung next to your legs you would be restricted in size by clipping issues as it went into the legs, and design would be hampered by the different running annimations and body proportions between M/F/H.

If it's over the shoulder it can be a larger variety of sizes, and a larger potential maximum size as the body of it can always expand outward diagonally away from the shoulder, and when you run it would be up and away from the body not banging against it.

  21. So we can estimate roughly 400mil for the Batman movie because that should be twice as good and twice as many people like Batman. Right? >.>

    Blapper?

    Okay.

    Blaze->Charged Brawl->Havoc Punch->Shocking Grasp->FILLER
    (+Lightning Field running)
I've got this gapless by rotating fillers, flares animates quick and gives me a small gap (about 0.2 of a sec arcanna time) but I only need to hit flares after several rotations in a row. Siphon and Rain of Fire are way under what they need to be to take an even share though, if I needed to really lay into something I could do those first, and rotate them again after BU/AIM, and only have to do flares like 1/7 rotations, and even then I'd probably never have to hit it if I were moving around.

    44.6% S/L Defense
    39.4% Ranged Defense
1.5/sec+ Recovery with everything on, plus Performance Shifter chance for +end
No alpha used, so I'm free to go musculature. XD

No significant resists... I just don't have the slots to put any more in Tough than the two +3%def IO's, and even if I did that would be all the resist I had.

I brought mids to work today, but damnit I didn't update it...

Could someone please tell me the final recharge amount on the superior blaster ATO set? I seem to remember 112 which would fit what I'm looking at LIKE A GLOVE, but if not I'd like to know now so I can fool with it some more.
  25. I dig it.

I love weapons and I would very quickly snap this up for 800pts regardless of how good or bad the set was, as long as it looked good and had different cannon models.

I don't presume to know what all you're willing to do thematically with 'Double Shot' but it sounds like a good candidate for a sniper. Instead of the usual slow aim type animation, you would have a panniced manual reloading, or assembly, or calibration animation of some kind, followed by a hasty shot at the end of the animation.
