All,
I used to love Tankers but over time I gravitated towards Brutes for damage. However, with SR and MA being new for Tanks, I am kinda thinking about trying it. However, I do long for damage, so I am tempted to go with Shield for AAO and Shield Charge. But conceptually I prefer SR. But I dont want to start and give up due to the damage levels.
So with all that in mind, should I go Shield or Super Reflexes?
Also, do I need Aid Self? I have room for it in my SR build but not in my Shield build.
Finally, unless I drop Aid Self from my SR build, I need to drop one attack. And on my Shield guy I still have to drop one. I was thinking of dropping the one that causes knockback, or maybe the top silly spinny flippy one. Or maybe you would recommend some other power to skip.
If you were to recommend an attack from Martial Arts to skip, what would it be? And why?
Thanks,
Lewis -
Do people find MA to be satisfactory on tankers without damage auras or AAO? I mean for those of you who are addicted to damage? I ask because I eventually drifted from tanks to brutes because I needed a bit more damage.
Thanks,
Lewis -
Yeah, targeted aoe sets have always had horrible numbers. There is only 1/2 of an IO dedicated to recharge in the normal sets. Oh well.
Lewis -
Lots of options. But quite a few of them are not palatable to me.
For one thing, I hate Blasters. Feel free to interpret that as I suck with blasters or that I am too lazy.
As for traps, it is a set I really enjoy, but I have found that I dont like mixing it with blasts. I love it on Masterminds.
I could always go with Storm or Dark and work towards defense, but I already have a Storm/Rad defender who is level 49 (using generic IOs). I should probably tweak him out instead of making a rad/storm corruptor.
Also, I love Storm and Dark and have already done plenty. I have Dark/Elec and Dark/Ice defenders at 50. I have Thugs/Dark at 50. I have a Fire/Dark corruptor at 37. And Stormies? Forget about it. Storm is my fave set in the game! I have every permutation of storm controller at 50 except elec, plus I have 3 storm defenders at 50 (energy, psy, sonic) and just made a fire/storm corruptor. So I just want to avoid getting in a rut.
I dont really enjoy kin or rad or Trick Arrow or thermal or traps much on blast sets. I generally dont enjoy cold. Poison is a maybe I suppose. But I really want mez protection, softcapping, or both.
I bet rad/poison is interesting, despite not offering what I am looking for. I wonder how poison does at soft capping?
Hmm.
Thanks for all the replies btw. Much obliged!
Lewis -
I cant really figure out how the set works either. But it looks cool, so good enough. If stuff dies slow because I am a dumdum, well thats ok. Cause I have a cool hat.
-
I suck at tight cone powers, like Shadow Maul etc. I can never hit more than 2. But thats ok, I am fine with treating Sweeping Cross as a single target attack. Street Justice is Street!
Lewis -
Also, as the OVERLORD of Time and Space (as opposed to Whining Coward) you will be able to use Farsight, Time's Juncture and Wormhole with relative impunity, right up in someones face. None of this crap where you activate your powers from behind a wall.
Lewis -
I prettymuch only have 1 concept for Staff and for Titanic Weapons, but Street Justice is just so sexy and diverse that I expect to make tons.
Guy who punches you in the face? STJ/Regen.
Teenager who kicks you in the groin? STJ/SR.
Guy on fire who punches you in the face? STJ/FA.
Undead teenager who kicks you in the groin? STJ/DA.
Grandma? STJ/WP.
Pimp-Bot? STJ/INV.
(Evil) High-Voltage Clown? STJ/ELEC.
Off-Duty City Worker with manhole cover who punches you in the face? STJ/SHLD.
Invisible Pimp-Bot? STJ/EA.
So many possibilities!
Lewis -
I wouldnt mind doing a Rad/Time corruptor, but I saw some complaints on the Corruptor forum about how it sucked. Maybe because of no mez protection prior to the clarion T4.
Maybe I should just keep camping the name until Rad/FF is an option tho.
Oh well. No worries.
Lewis -
An empathy defender with stealth could be nice for Fort (defense, damage) and adrenaline boost, not to mention heals.
Cold defender for max hp, defense, and approach stealth.
If you unlock controller on the f2p account then Fire/Time with Hotfeet, Time's Juncture, Temporal Mending, Farsight, and the ally buff. Or maybe an Illusion Empathy controller for full stealth, the empathy buffs and heals, plus deceive and PA. Or Ill/Cold.
Lewis -
-
Maybe I'll make both. I can make a Rad/Traps on one account and FF/Rad on the other.
Lewis -
Cool deal. I myself like Jolting Chain. Just because with high recharge (in the power and external ally buffs; I've not maxed out my own builds yet) its pretty funny. Perma AOE knockdown. Good times.
Lewis -
Here is the data chunk for the Gladiator (expensive) version. Just in case you are feeling frisky and non-exemplar-y. Oh, and in my original build, I meant to make all the BotZ knockback IOs level 10. But for this, you don't need to.

About the best I could do is perma-hasten, with Cardiac Paragon (so you can afford to run everything) with about 40.3% ranged defense. I seem to recall there is some incarnate buff that can give you some defense, so you might hit range-cap using that.
Now, I didn't take recall friend, or Flash Freeze, or Absorb Pain, or Teleport. I also picked Frost Breath instead of Ice Storm since it does half the damage but recharges in 1/4 the time with my build. But I picked it at level 47 so you could sub out if you want. But hey. Maybe my build will be useful.
Now if you really wanted to spend some cash, I guess you could abandon the idea of exemplar stuff, move a slot off of Ice Slick (it will still be perma at level 50+) to combat jumping in place of the level 45 Blessing of the Zephyr, then move the level 45 slot to tough, and drop in the Gladiator PVP global defense 3% for 2 billion influence, then swap Recovery Aura (a controller can skip it IMO) and take Super Jump and put 2 Blessing of the Zephyr there and then you'd have 44.6% ranged defense with perma hasten and Cardiac Paragon. That'd be pretty spiffy.
But my build is close enough, with no Purples other than the Confuse set.

I am not sure what my question is either.
I guess I feel like I have been seeing lots of buzz about Electric control. Maybe its the elec/cold soloing AVs combined with the fact that Time and Poison are new and have good synergy with Elec.
So I was just casting about for what all is going on with it, etc.
Lewis -
Well, I played a Fire/Sonic controller to 50, and an Illusion/Sonic to 46 and the Illusion/Sonic has been sitting there for a few years now, I guess. I just cant make myself get those last 4 levels. So no ...no sonic.
I guess I will play Rad/Traps. Well, unless I can find some totally different set to fit the name Atom Strike. If only we had Rad Assault on Doms. Doms are, numerically by number of characters, my second favorite AT. Corruptors are 9th.
Lewis -
Well, its a good thing they balanced this set by nerfing it prior to release.
Lewis
/youre welcome -
I am not sure what your question is. Do you want to know which is best?
Either is fine. Corruptors do a bit more damage. Defenders help people survive a bit better. I think either choice is fine.
Lewis -
Can a sonic corruptor soft cap ranged, aoe, and s/l and still have 50% - 60% or more global recharge?
Even if they can, I cant stand the sound effects or appearance of sonic.
As for rad traps corruptors, I figured that would be best, but traps is a bit odd for my concept. But I could work it in I suppose.
Thanks,
Lewis -
I am not a fan of softcapping resistance. It doesnt suit my delicate nature.
Lewis -
Maybe during a BAF or something with a lot of spawns, Dimension Shift -> Burnout -> Dimension Shift? You know, just so that everyone will love you and get a big kick out of your jovial nature. No, no ... Not kick, as in kick me from the team ..... *sniffle*.
Lewis -
All,
I have played with Rad blast some and I really like the animations. I want a build that can soft cap defense, enjoy mez protection, and otherwise just stand next to bad guys while clicking Irradiate and Neutron Bomb with impunity.
So, I guess that means I am looking at Rad/Traps corruptor, Traps/Rad defender, or FF/Rad defender. I would make Rad/FF in a heartbeat if corruptors could, but as of today, they cant.
Of the options available to me, which would be the "best"?
I will play a trapper but using gadgets doesnt quite fit my concept. Man I wish I could do Rad/FF.
Anyway, anyone have recommendations about this?
Thanks,
Lewis
