  1. I don't have to be sexy, because my wife is. She covers the being sexy, smart, kind, and good part of things, and I mostly do the heavy lifting.
  2. Yet another way that they have sucked all the fun out of a once cool event.
  3. Yes, Inv/EM is still a very viable and kickass tank. They did change EM some, so it wont be exactly the same as you remember it, but it stills works, and you can still stomp the crap out of baddies pretty much at will. Mine has nothing but common IOs for enhancements, and I've tanked every TF, trial, and baddie in the game that way, so I'm sure if you ubered yours out with IO sets, you'd do just fine.
  4. If I were around, I'd run it with you, but I have this unfortunate condition called "being employed" that severely restricts my ability to do everything that I'd like to do.

    Oh, and welcome back.
  5. Telepathy and telekinesis.

My favorite heroes are Colossus and Hawkman.
  6. Dinged 50 on my Dark/Ice tanker Superunknown during an LGTF.

The first Tuesday of every month on Champion server is Tanker Tuesday. Tanks gather in Kings Row next to the IP gate. Then we make up all Tanker teams to run TFs, just do missions, or anything we feel like. It is mostly just a celebration of Tanking. Next month's will be the 70th Tanker Tuesday, making it the longest running player run event in the game.

It has also branched off onto other servers on the other Tuesdays of the month, but you would have to ask around for which Tuesday, as I'm pretty much just a Champion guy.
  8. Why? Because why fight 5 when you can fight 25? I like the superheroic feel of just slowly and methodically pummeling my way through a crowd of enemies. I know that pretty much 98% of everyone else in this game is obsessed with speed. What's my DPS? How fast can I kill? Speed TFs, speed everything. I just don't care about it.

I enjoy the dynamics of tanking. Playing with aggro control. Herding and moving and shifting fights where I want them to be. Pulling the right group to charge my auras, dictating and choreographing fights the way I want them to go down. I spend most of my time soloing, so it gives me lots of time to tinker with fighting styles, what works with what powersets, etc.

I've got 9 tanks, and all of them bring a different flavor to the game. And if they get around to adding new Tanker powersets, I'll be right there to roll one of those too.

And because Tanker Tuesday rules. Just good ol' fashioned smashing fun.
  9. My stone/mace is a blast to play. The only IO sets he has are for +runspeed, and I spread those all over. He moves very quickly. I find the only time I ever really use Granite is when tanking for a large team, or facing off with something big and ugly. Other than that, I pretty much just run him with Stone Skin, Rock Armor, and Rooted. Never really had much trouble tanking anything in the game with him.

    Terror Tank

I tried this for a bit on my Dark/Ice tanker. Tried to combine Cloak of Fear and Intimidate/Invoke Panic into an effective fear machine. Got very little out of it. The payoff hardly seemed worth the cost or running it that way. So, I scrapped it, and went in another direction. I suppose with the right tinkering and IOs, you could make it viable, but it just didn't work for me in a way that I liked.
  11. Fun time as always. Interesting mothership raid. A little slow to start off, but finished well once we got everyone in the same place. Then ran a nice 5 man rikti respec. Much stomping done. On to #70 next month!
  12. Ultraamann will be there in the glorious golden buff as always. Looking forward to it. Always a ton o' fun.

I've got 9. That's almost two handfuls. If I'm the last, then I'll be the last.
  14. Sadly, I have had many experiences like that of the OP. Hesitant tanks, tanks you're always waiting on... it drives me crazy. As a rule, when I'm tanking (and frankly, most of the time even when I'm not) its just go-time, all the time. I like to hit groups, aggro them, put them where I want them, and then as soon as they're mostly dead or under control, I'm off to the next group. Most players are generally smart, and will pick up my rhythm fairly quickly. I like to MOVE things along. Fortune favors the bold.
  15. Look, I am a diehard Lakers fan, and have been for my entire life. I love when they're doing well, and love it even more when they're winning titles, and love that even more when they're beating the Celtics.

But I will agree firsthand that all the talk about Kobe being the best ever and his "legacy" and all that crap has just gotten out of hand. Kobe is an amazing baksetball player. His work ethic and offensive skill set is pretty much unparalleled at this point in his career. I enjoy watching him play because I respect his game and the obvious work that he has put into being that good. BUT... he is by no means the best ever. The Jordan camp will win that argument easily, and I personally would take Magic Johnson as the best player I ever saw. So, all those Kobe as best ever people need to just let it go. I love Kobe as a Laker, but just let it go.

All that being said, players don't win titles, TEAMS win titles. Jordan never won a thing without Pippen, Grant, Paxson, Rodman, Cartwright, Kerr, etc. Magic never won a thing without Kareem, Worthy, Wilkes, Nixon, Scott, McAdoo, A.C, etc. Bill Russell won all his titles because he was surrounded by Cousy, Havlicek, Sharman, the two Joneses, Howell, etc. It is a team game. Stop making it about one guy.

The Lakers won because at some point Kobe came up huge. So did Bynum, Gasol, Artest, Fisher, Odom, Farmar, Brown, Vujacic. It was a team title. That being said, I cant wait to see them do it again next year, so we can have all the same arguments all over again.
  16. I'm sorry, were you all saying something? Couldn't hear you over the celebration. Time for another parade down Figueroa. Great reason to get out of work for a morning.
  17. And man, do we ever love all you Laker haters.. lol.
  18. Good turnout tonight. Started off with a thorough thumping of this stupid Paladin that was following me around. Got 3 full teams off, a lower level team, a 50s team, and a mixed level team. Lots of quality smashing!

Oh I could have gone on and on.. including Inherit the Wind, but from there, you go to more Frederic March stuff.. his Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, his performance in the '37 A Star is Born, The Best Year of our Lives...

or Spencer Tracy... Captains Courageous, Boys' Town, his version of Dr Jekyll, any of his movies with Hepburn (Adams Rib, Woman of the Year, Pat and Mike, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?), Father of the Bride, Judgement at Nuremberg...

or Gene Kelly... Anchors Aweight, The Pirate, On the Town, An American in Paris, Brigadoon, Singin' in the Rain...

or other stuff about the craziness of religion at times.. like Elmer Gantry.. which of course takes you into Burt Lancaster's whole career...

and well.. like I said.. it just goes on and on...
  20. Lots of older classic films to try, if you havent already. Just a quick off the top of my head run of some of my favorites:

Chaplin films: The Kid, The Gold Rush, City Lights, Modern Times, The Great Dictator
Cary Grant films: Gunga Bin, Arsenic and Old Lace, His Girl Friday, A Philadelphia Story, To Catch a Thief, North by Northwest, Charade, Notorious
Hitchcock films:Rope, Vertigo, Psycho, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Rear Window

    A Man for All Season
    Bridge on the River Kwai
    The Searchers
    The Quiet Man
    The Third Man
    Touch of Evil
Around the World in 80 Days (the original with David Niven)
    M
    Anatomy of a Murder
    Witness for the Prosecution
    Night of the Hunter
    12 Angry Men

I could go on and on... but once you start watching classics.. you'll find you jump to others on your own..
  21. Looking to run the Sewer Trial (lvl 38-40) and the Eden Trial (lvl 39-41). Will be Friday May 28, forming up for the sewer trial at about 5 pm pst. If you've never run it, or havent run it in a while, its a fun little trial. 90 min timed, requires some good teamwork and coordination.

After that, I'd like to run an Eden trial as well.

So, if anyone is interested, give me a holler in game @Ultraamann, or just come to the sewer entrance in Atlas Park. You'll see my Dark/Ice tanker Superunknown standing there by the contact.
  22. I'll be there. I'm sure Myr and some of the other old-timers will be as well. We'll get things off and rolling as always. We got it covered. Cross check someone viciously on our behalf.
  23. Loved the finale. It was a satisfying ending. Jack vs Flocke. Good vs evil. There was a satisfactory conclusion to what had been building up. I really like that they refused to answer everything about everything. There will still be arguments about what exactly the island is, and endless points of Lost mythology to debate about. I've always preferred mystery to knowing everything. I think the writers were smart enough to know that NO answer they could give for the Island would ever be as rich and deep and good and fun as the ideas that people make up for themselves. So, they chose the wise course, and left it for us to interpret.

More than anything, this show has always been about the characters. And ****** if they didn't just knock it out of the park in the finale. All those moments of revelation as the Losties touch and see and remember who they are, and who they are to each other. That alone was magic. My wife was bawling, and it was just so emotionally powerful. Hats off to the writers and actors. Incredible job. Hurley was pure gold in this episode. The scene where he goes to get Charlie. Just that look of wonder and happiness on his face at seeing his friend again... wow. I couldn't have imagined them ending on a better note.

I loved the Watchmen-esque closing scene. Jack running through the forest, falling, his eye closing, mirroring his eye popping open, rising, running through the forest in the first scene of the pilot. A great symmetry to it all. Amazing show, amazing ending.
