Quote:Thanks for the support, buddy. I swear that I'm naming my next tank "Button Masher" though. LOLThat's funny his "button mashing" has never had ANY problems taking down the AVs. Whereas I have been on a couple of BAFs that have failed at the AVs, seems to me WEI has done something other than just "button mashing".
There is no need to come on the forums and try to bash other people for absolutely no reason. Take that attitude to Freedumb, it might fit in there. -
Quote:Indeed, thank you BB.As long as your league-mates understand the stragtegies ahead of time there should be no problems.
Quote:This is similar to my opinion on Lambda, with the main gate. Some people insist on keeping it closed. I have no problem opening the gate. My opinion is by this stage in the game everyone should know the basics of aggro. If they don't they should not be doing these trials.
If you are in the courtyard and have aggro, stay in the courtyard. Die there if you must.
If you are outside the walls don't attack anything, wait to summon pets until you are inside so a quirky AI won't lead them out. -
Quote:That's when the meleers need to trust in the skills of their fellow league-mates to buff/heal as needed.Sequestration means, to me, a few things.
First, you are getting aggro from the AV. Usually, this is a very good thing. However, with the hold, a few other things are going to happen:
A) People who rely on movement for part of their defense or what-have-you are going to get curb-stomped by Siege.
Quote:B) ALL Melee DPS will cease in and around the offending aggro-haver.
Quote:C) Ranged DPS may be off-set by spamming heals/buffs/shields etc. to prevent situation A above from happening.
Quote:You are a tank. Your job, as I see it, is to be a meat shield. YOU defend and they attack. If you do not defend them, they die. Yes, the onus is on the others to check and recheck their surroundings in case a tank falls. But, when you aren't down, rather you are asleep at the wheel, then things CAN derail.
By no means did I mean to imply I just sat there and waited it out. I scan around and check other league members status/aggro/battle situations, watch to see where I need to pull aggro from and prioritize as first/second/third in order to action as soon as the hold is done, etc. Non-button mashing stuff to be sure.
Quote:I LOVE having aggro. What I do, when I see a second warning from another tank/brute/etc., is I TAUNT THE AV OFF OF THEM. THAT is my JOB. I would hope that another tank/brute/etc., would see the second warning for me and do likewise.
It is our job. Meatshield, defend, protect, draw aggro, THEN kill.PS - I'm stealing your awesome quote for my signature! LOL

Quote:LMAO! Blindly button mashing?! So that's what ya think I do, eh? Interesting.blindly button mashing and then taking a few seconds break...
Quote:...when I get myself, 3 scrappers, 1 blapper, and a kin held because I was too proud to press wasd.
Quote:Your "role" as a tank that you say you take seriously is to protect your team from enemy effects. That may sometimes mean doing something other than standing next to an AV and mashing attack keys and taunt.
Quote:Your role as a tank does not seem like it should be "screw you guys, don't want to be mezzed, don't stand next to the guy who doesn't want to bother pressing wasd." Its fine that you don't care if you get 7 other people held too.
Quote:I agree that in most cases a league can just muscle through it anyway. But why not simply press wasd for a few seconds and actually tank the enemy instead of scrapping?
Quote:Bash who? He posted his opinion on a public forum. He should and likely does expect discussion and/or debate.
Quote:I simply don't agree that we should employ those bad tactics in general. I also do not agree that using those bad tactics exemplifies tanking to be proud of.
Sequestration, in my opinion, does not pose enough of a threat now to justify retreat. If I were not lvl 53 and still just lvl 50 without any incarnate level shifts, certainly I'd react/play differently and back-the-hell-up because, as I fondly recall, I died several times when BAF first came out due to sequestration. But, now that a large majority of us are sporting shiny new incarnate powers/abilities/lvl shifts, I can rely as much on my fellow league-mates skills as they can on mine to play through it with little impact. Now, when I do get sequestered, I don't die nor do my league-mates that are held. Prior to being sequestered, I taunt and attack, so that when I am held, I continue to hold aggro through the duration of the hold. I'm one of those tanks that always 6 slots taunt because I feel it's one of the most important of our button mashing skills. LOL It would be much different if I ignored the sequestration warnings, and then there was death and chaos as a result, but that doesn't happen. Granted, the rare odd death due to squishiness/incarnate lowbness does occur, but usually when together with my regular league-mates, there are no deaths, and we win quickly and efficiently, period.
Your opinion is noted Strato - so does that mean you won't be asking to join my BAF's anymore? I hope this isn't the case my friend.
In general? So then, you're saying I specifically tank poorly. Copy.
Quote:...it just means that in this case he doesn't care to tank for the team,
Quote:...instead being fine letting them feel the full brunt of the enemy effect, because the effect doesn't usually put a big dent in trial progress.
Quote:I'd rather pull that effect away from the team or avoid it altogether. In other words: Sequestration? I do care.
/e button mashes "Tanks buddy!" -
Hi all, I just thought I'd offer up my opinion on this whole "sequestration" thing. Many of you have run with me on dozens of successful BAF's now, and therefore know that I don't give a crap about sequestration, and have seen me tell the league members as much. But inevitably, there's someone in the league that says something along the lines of "please remember to back away if you see the 2 warnings on you so the rest of us don't get held." My standard reply when this happens is "LOL," and usually one of my regular league-mates will say "WEI doesn't bother!" which always brings a smile to my face.
The handful of BAF's I've been on that have failed, did so because of the escapees phase. I have yet to be on a BAF that failed because I didn't back away prior to being sequestered.
Why? Because I trust my regular league-mates. They know their roles, and they do things right. What happens during sequestration with a good league is that when we get held, the range players spam buffs and heals (and blasts), while we melee-types stand there and enjoy the comfort of a few seconds rest. LOL
The thing is, I take my role as a tank (often the lead tank) seriously, and to me that means I get aggro, and I keep aggro. I take the hard knocks so my buddies don't have to. If you're concerned about being held for a few seconds, then you shouldn't be/stay in melee.
Please remember, this is just my opinion, and in no way am I trying to say that I do it the right way, or, for that matter, that there even is a right way. What I am saying is that this is how I roll, and if, as they say, you can't stand the heat, then get outta the kitchen! -
Yeah it went very well (despite a bit of a hick-up with the grenades map) and I was quite surprised at how quickly Marauder was taken down, since in all of our previous attempts, the best we had done was to only get him down to 8hp before the time ran out. Gotta love it when a plan comes together.
Next!

Been playing since launch. I have 14 lvl 50s (7 on Guardian) and run 2 accounts:
@UNB0UND 4 LIFE
@UNB0UND 4 LIFE 2
Some of you may know me as:
WEI JUN (shield/kin tank) <--- my main tank
Huper Sero (claws/regen scrap) <--- my main scrap
W A R S T A R (bots/ff mm) <--- Rikti Raids
BBQ PORK RIB ROAST (fire/kin troll) <--- AE / ITF
Some of you may remember me as:
PORK PINE (spines/wp scrap)
Willow Ptarmageddon (fire/fire scrap)
The EXECUTI0NER (invuln/axe tank)
And some of you may not give a crap.LOL
You can usually find me running BAF's and/or Lambda's in pocket D between 7pm and 10pm PST weekdays, and almost anytime on weekends. -
Not sure where to post this but I have a couple of suggestions:
1) would be very helpful to have a League Size column added beside Team Size in your global friends window,
2) highlight or turn league members names green in the League tab as they click "enter" so we know who's AFK
3) leave those AFK in the League as greyed-out with an option for Leaders to reinvite if they missed the chance to enter due to expired countdown clock -
-
Thanks Ulli - indeed we toasted Nightstar and Siege in their spawn points and walked away with Master of BAF! Thanks to all who participated. Then we broke BAF! And kept getting more than 24 team members when trying to enter trial and instead would enter someone's mish. Very aggravating.
-
I have a couple questions for those of you who have gotten the Master of BAF, in regards to the "Gotta Keep 'Em Separated" badge, where you have to "Defeat Siege & Nightstar without moving them from their initial locations during a Behavioral Adjustment Facility Incarnate Trial."
Does this mean that Nightstar needs to be taken down where she spawns, then defeat the escapees, then Siege has to be taken down where he spawns only, and then when they both rez they can be pulled to one location? Or, does it mean that after they rez they need to be again defeated in their original locations, i.e., "Gotta Keep 'Em Separated" both times? -
Hehe, told ya Viv that I had a lot of piggy 'toons.

Great post DarkUnicorn! Thank you. I must admit I never even considered the Merit rewards aspect of the WTF.
-
Haha very valid point Golden Girl - of course I wasn't referencing those lvl 50's that actually do need/want help, but that so far in my experience, when I have seen the Help Me over their heads and asked them if they needed help, the majority of them have replied no and that they just like the purple color. LOL That's why I suggested the countdown timer thing.
-
Yeah, seeing lvl 50's (or 50+1's) with the "Help Me!" over their heads is ridiculous. I have a couple of suggestions that I think might help improve this system. A countdown timer associated with the Help Me part would make sense to me. If you choose Help Me, 1) it will only stay visibly active over your name for a 5 minute duration after which it will return your status to normal, 2) when it reaches the last 10 seconds, an annoying
prompt pops up asking if you want to maintain your Help Me status, 3) selecting Help Me sends out a generic message over the Help channel that "$name is $level and needs help!" to alert the community, and 4) selecting Help Me defaults your chat window into the Help Channel. This might effectively eliminate the "cry wolf" syndrome we're seeing already. LOL
PS - I also think that there should be an easy "hot button" for going into and out of Help Me status - like having 911 on speed dial. Maybe a small button beside the chat window? -
While I'm very happy to see the incarnate level shift for incarnate trials, why not extend it to any game content where lvl 54's are the opponents? That way when you're running mishz or TF's at +4, doing the Rikti War Zone for the raid, or taking on Hami you can reap the benefits of the incarnate lvl shift(s). I think this would make for a much happier community of CoH players.

Ummm, 18 hours downtime!!!??? -
So exactly what time does the raid start on Saturdays?
-
As posted by Avantea the Weekly Strike Targets in APRIL 2011 are:
April 5th to April 11th - Time’s Arrow (from Imperious in Cimerora)
previous weekly strike target March 15th to March 21st
April 12th to April 18th - Clamor and Destruction (from Sister Psyche in Independence Port) / Pirates of the Skies (from Silver Mantis in Sharkhead Isle or your supergroup or villaingroup base's mission computer or oracle)
previous weekly strike target February 22nd to February 28th
I have to say that I don't get it. After only 9 weeks, we're going to be repeating the weekly strike target TF's already?! I honestly can't believe it.
Tell me there's not more/better options here than repeating already? Below is a list of available TF's, with notes of interest. Green have already been WST task forces. Red are really not good options anyways, in my opinion.
The Rule of Three - Positron - lvl 10 to 15 - Accolade requirement for Positron's Ally and Task Force Commander.
Dam Hero - Positron - lvl 11 to 16 - Accolade requirement for Positron's Ally and Task Force Commander.
The Fall of the Clockwork King - Synapse - 15 to 20 - Accolade requirement for Task Force Commander.
Clamor and Destruction - Sister Psyche - lvl 20 to 25 - Accolade requirement for Task Force Commander.
The Kheldian War - Moonfire - lvl 23 to 28 - Takes place in Striga Isle.
Citadel's Children - Citadel - lvl 25 to 30 - Accolade requirement for Task Force Commander.
The MegaMech Cometh - Ernesto Hess - lvl 25 to 30 - Takes place in Striga Isle.
Smoke and Mirrors - Twilight's Son - lvl 25 to 34 - Takes place in Ouroboros.
A Tangled Plot - Katie Hannon - lvl 30 to 34 - Takes place in Croatoa, considered the fastest TF within the game. Accolade requirement for Geas of the Kind Ones.
Following Countess Crey - Manticore - lvl 30 to 35 - Accolade requirement for Task Force Commander.
The 5th Column Overthrow - Mender Lazarus - lvl 30 to 39 - Takes place in Ouroboros.
Soul of the Woodsman - Numina - lvl 35 to 40 - 16 missions are hunting for "X of Y faction" in different zones. Accolade requirement for Task Force Commander.
Time's Arrow - Imperious - lvl 35 to 50 - Takes place in Cimerora. Heroes and Villains can team up with each other.
Explorers and Exploiters - Dr. Quaterfield - lvl 40 to 44 - Majority of TF takes place in the Shadow Shard. Considered the longest TF in the game.
The Legend of Ruladak - Sara Moore - lvl 40 to 50 - Majority of TF takes place in the Shadow Shard.
The Saga of Faathim - Justin Augustine - lvl 44 to 50 Majority of TF takes place in the Shadow Shard. (10 of these missions are easy "travel to" missions)
The Saga of Lanaru - Faathim the Kind - lvl 44 to 50 - Majority of TF takes place in the Shadow Shard.
Statesman's Task Force - Statesman - lvl 45 to 50 - Considered to be the hardest TF in the game.
The Lady Grey Task Force - The Lady Grey - lvl 45 to 50 - Takes place in Rikti War Zone. Heroes and Villains can team up with each other.
Return of the Reichsman - Dr. Kahn - lvl 45 to 50 - Most of the missions are accessed via the Train.
Trading Places - Mender Silos - lvl 46 to 50 - Takes place in Ouroboros.
Alpha Strike - Apex - lvl 50 - Mission entrances are all located in the Rikti War Zone. Heroes and Villains can team up with each other.
The Praetorian Offensive - Tin Mage Mark II - lvl 50 - Mission entrances are all located in the Rikti War Zone. Heroes and Villains can team up with each other.
OK, so right off the bat several things jump right out at you.
#1) The devs are avoiding the Shadow Shard...because it's a pain in the butt to travel there?
#2) The devs are avoiding Striga Isle...because...hell if I know!
#3) The devs are avoiding Katie Hannon's TF in Croatoa because it's the fastest TF in the game?
#4) The devs are avoiding the others so we don't get the Task Force Commander accolade?
Seriously, I don't get it. :P -
Quote:Actually, we Canadians don't have anything that we call "Canadian bacon" unless we're just referring to regular bacon from Canada, i.e. Maple Leaf brand. What Americans call "Canadian bacon" (a term Americans invented) we call "back bacon," which is smoked or unsmoked bacon cut from the boneless eye of pork loin.Although what the Canadians call Bacon is really thick cut back ham, the kind you'll see on a Hawaiian style Pizza... it's really considerably different from most other types of bacon.
Hawaiian pizza is a pizza that usually consists of a cheese and tomato base with pieces of ham and pineapple. Some versions include bacon, but the version with ham and pineapple only is the most common. Despite its name, Hawaiian pizza is not a Hawaiian invention. In Italy, "Hawaiian" pizza is considered to be a German invention, but Sam Panopoulos' claims that he created the first Hawaiian pizza at the Satellite Restaurant in Chatham, Ontario, Canada in 1962.
