Heh, if I wanna street sweep for fun, I'll take one of my 50s into AP and start AOEing everything in sight.

Quote:What int he bloody hell does "the face of the game" have to do with lore? Please understand that I don't say this in a malicious way, but I need to say it: If that's how you feel, then you really have no place holding an opinion the RP aspect of the game. I get not caring about the lore-side of the game. You're hardly alone in this. But you've consistently suggested that no argument about anything lore-related is valid because... Well, you don't care about lore and so it doesn't matter one way or another.
I'll answer that in case you're having trouble: Jack @#%$. -
Like hell it was. Just because you couched it in friendly terms doesn't mean it wasn't condescending.
Oh, it doesn't count if you're insulting the DEVS.... Because, you know, they're not people so you can spit whatever hate and baseless accusations you want at them. Gotcha. -
Yes, only you are allowed to be condescending and patronizing. My apologies.
Quote:That's my take on the reasoning for killing Statesman
What's your take on it?
...as if he was so highly developed before it. Hell, he was barely in the game at all before it. -
Quote:You know what they say about assumptions...I'm not tired of CoX or the Paragon Market.
What has taken the wind right out my sails with this game is the removal of Statesman - and the underhanded way it was engineered.
I still can't believe that the game's most recognisable character should be written out of the game, purely out of spite.
I thought Miller would be above that sort of thing.
And, yeah, that's all your accusation is. Spite? Seriously?
Quote:Yeah ... Let's take the game's most recognizable and marketable signature hero
He was also the in-game representation of the man who left to head up a company making the game's biggest competitor in the genre. So, yeah, I'm only surprised it took them this long to remove him. But I wouldn't call that "spite". -
Seriously, there's really no excuse to not know...

It's true of people in general, not just on these forums.

Most people will burn out on any game eventually. What boggles me is that some people seem to think this means the game is flawed in some critical way. It's not. It's normal. I'm not saying there are no flaws in the game, just that tiring of the game simply will happen for most people. Some can keep at it indefinitely, others' attentions will eventually wander elsewhere. This happens with every game. There's no need to look for flaws in the game to blame it on because there's nothing to "blame".

Quote:Yes, a bunch of people standing around not interacting with anyone and spamming AOE powers. God, how I MISS that.I really love /ah and wouldn't trade it for anything.
But I miss being able to pop in to Wentworths and find a bunch of folk hanging out doing their thing. IMHO the game needs *more* public gathering places where your character can feel like part of an actual CITY of Heroes.
So, how to incentivize players actually using the actual market locations?
Well, I'm glad you asked...
A convenience fee on remote transactions!
No. Take your effort to force us to uphold your vision of how we should be playing the game and shove it someplace dark and smelly. -
...and this is why I didn't post this here in the first place. A redname comment when it was moved, and now ignored.

Quote:And you can do this with an announcement at the beginning and a few reminders during. It is not necessary to SPAM THE CHANNEL CONSTANTLY during the event. It's disruptive and obnoxious and, frankly, the dismissive attitude to complaints about it ( More than just this thread, I see them constantly in other channels in-game when they're happening as well ) is disrespectful of the people who are paying your salary. And I really hate to pull out that argument ( in fact, usually am against it ), but it seems in this case, a reminder is needed...We're not going to stop using the Admin channel to run these events.
I do understand, and apologize that we may be disturbing your game play for a short period of time, however the admin channel is what we use to be certain that everyone knows the event is happening for the duration of the event.
Quote:it's very important that everyone know a live event is happening.
Quote:Also, keep in mind that some of the "admin chat" is actually done in the "zone admin" channel which only hits the map it's on.
And this is all I'm looking for. Limiting it to an announcement and reminders, not taking it COMPLETELY out of the global admin channel. -
-
Yes. And, again, I wouldn't mind a short announcement of the event at the start and a reminder occasionally during. But several lines at a time spammed every couple minutes? Screw that.
-
Quote:I have nothing against the events themselves and in no way want them to reduce/stop them. It's just the ADMIN spam that irritates the @$%^ out of me. And they could easily do the events without it.When it started on Virtue I logged and read a book. Really not interested in yet another invasion. Really, the whole "spawn enemies on you/groups of heroes" thing they seem to use for every new event is old, old old.
That said, a lot of people enjoy them so I don't expect them to change. If they didn't spam all 4 of my chat tabs during the events then I wouldn't have had to log out, though. -
Quote:Oooooooor, they could remove the problem themselves by not using the channel that spams every tab of every window with big, bold, red text for every damn tiny little thing during the event. Especially when doing so is totally unnecessary.1. Make your chat box bigger so you the text doesn't scroll out of sight so quickly and it will be easier to follow RP/chat conversations.
2. Edit your chat box tabs so you won't have any extra channels other than the channel you RP/chat in and the unavoidable occasional Admin messages, and you you'll be able to follow the conversations easier.
3. If you are using a global channel for your RP/chat channel, don't use the same color (red) the Admin channels uses. -
Quote:RP chat tends to go faster depending on the number of people involved and the red text scrolling it of has a bigger impact on things. It's disruptive and annoying. If you don't think so, more power to you. But, you don't use chat as heavily as I do, clearly. When you're nose deep an a big fight, the chat text is mostly irrelevant. ( Unlike some other MMOs where raid coordination takes more communication ) When you're RPing, the chat text is everything.Except for the fact that...you know.. I do use chat... just because I am not RPing does not mean the conversations I am having are not game related and/or important to myself as well as others (league).
RP is not the only form of communication which requires people to pay attention. And no...throughout the invasions etc...I did not find it difficult to convey my messages in league or global chan messages. -
