Quote:What you're not taking into consideration is that VIPs are steady, reoccurring income for them that often will spend MORE money on the market on top of their subscription. Saying "they don't want VIPs" is just outright laughably ignorant.I agree with you completely, _Hush_. The free stuff VIPs get is uneven. We get some new powersets, which is good. We also get new content in the Incarnate trials and SSAs, but most of that has been awful. Allowing VIPs access to a tedious grind is *not* doing them any favors.
All that being said, you have to remember that VIPs are actually the least important players in CoH. The management wants to make money through microtransactions, they want everyone to pay that way, and so they structure their content to entice people to be Premium. They do not want VIPs. So it's no use whining about them not treating VIPs very well. We are no longer their preferred customers, so of course they're not going to be as generous to us as to their micro-paying horde.
If you want to get back in the management's good graces, stop being a VIP player. Turn off your subscription and spend money on the Paragon market. You'll get more for your money that way and you'll feel more appreciated. -
Prior to Freedom, we only got a handful of new powersets outside of expansions. Since Freedom's launch, we've gotten more VIP powersets than free powersets we'd gotten in the 6 years previous to Freedom. That's not counting the pay powersets.

Quote:Maybe not as a VIP reward token purchase, but they've indicated it will be back in some way someday. There wouldn't be any dev time taken away from new sets by re-releasing one that's already made anyway. And given the number of people saying they missed it, I think it's clear that nowhere near "everyone" as bought Celestial Armor.I don't have my hopes up that it will ever be re-released, when the devs could instead be dedicating their time and resources to make something new, that EVERYONE hasn't bought yet, and release that instead.
Anyway, I got mine, but I'm absolute not opposed to others getting theirs as well. -

Except for the balance decisions that affect PvE being made purely for PvP concerns....

Quote:One of the many reasons I hate PvP in a mainly PvE game. Whatever happened to the promises that PvP balance wouldn't impact PvE?I don't have any official basis for this, but I always thought psi damage tended to be kept low (most visibly when ported to Blasters) because it was perceived to be poorly resisted by players in PVP.
Before the release of Psi Blast for Blasters, so many PVP-oriented players were chanting "Psi, Psi, Psi..." because they wanted to get around the resistances of their player foes. But when it came out and the damage numbers were not awe-inspiring, a lot of those same posters expressed significant disappointment. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking there's a link of some sort, but I always assumed the Devs limited the damage output of Psi so it wouldn't become a monster PVP set. -
It would fit thematically for a character I have. My worry, however? It'll have the standard low psi damage because supposedly (emphasis on that) so few mobs resists psi. The big problem is the things that do resist psi resist the HELL out of it.

*K*new.
And pretty much everyone already knew about it. But we couldn't really discuss it here because it hadn't officially been announced yet. The info we had was found by hacking data files, which is technically against the rules.
Edit: Yeah, I'm slow. Didn't catch the joke. I have an excuse..... RL distraction lately. -

You know, Dink's cool and all....but I always gotta give a juvenile snicker at his name. The slang meaning of it I'm thinking off probably isn't too common here in the US, though. >.>

12 years of experience in MMOs, and that's exactly how I've always heard the term used. Sorry if some people misled you as to what it means by misusing the term for something else.

Quote:Old fashioned way. Why? For me it's, frankly, much more fun. There's a lot that I still miss the old fashioned way, so Oro's good for that, though.I just started doing some arcs from Oro that were needed for accolades. They have the low level arcs in a cleaned up version - no being sent to Hollows to talk to a guy, no random missions that are not part of the arc.
For those interested in the story arcs, leveling to get to Oro and then just doing the arcs through there seems much better than trying to get the right contacts, sort through the garbage missions, etc.
Do people use Oro for their content or still do it the old fashioned way? -
I'm not a fan of exclusive items that not everybody has a chance to reach. The old vet reward program, given time, everyone had a chance to reach the items. The Twitter Codes, I guess technically the same was true, but not enough time was given for everyone to have a fair shake at it. At least more time was given with the Facebook codes. Other problem is not everyone even knew about it until it was done or even at all.

Absolutely love the pants. Love the gloves. Toolbelt looks like it'll be good when it's finished. I can't complain.

Quote:Different from the already existing cornrow hairstyle, I assume?Howdy all,
First off I would like to thank those for your input at the summit for the Post Apocalyptic Costume Pieces.
I am currently working on it and wanted to keep you updated on what I have thus far. There is no concept as the pieces are pretty much already made so Google was my concept artist ^_^. With the Post Apocalyptic pack, were going to try something new in the Paragon Market: A Themed Parts Pack. What does this mean? Well, rather than making a unified, complete costume set we are making a set of various costume pieces around the Post Apocalyptic theme. I think youll like the results as it has the potential to offer much more flexibility than a soup to nuts costume.
Here's what has been decided:- Cornrows

Quote:No problem whatsoever.I know I see the Wisp Aura a TON and it was a promotional thing. With the ordeal behind the Tweet code Thursdays and the Dark Matter Aura a lot of people want it for sale. However, so far they have said no since its a promotional item.
So how would you feel if as a compromised they released the Wisp Aura for sale? I think it would sell fairly well as I see a LOT of people using this aura.
Thoughts? -
Quote:People have hated DFB for these reasons since the first day it was introduced. Where've you been?So last night I logged on and while I was waiting in Atlas Park for my partner to arrive I overheard a few things in broadcast that made me laugh ... [while not direct quotes the following was basically the short conversation]
New player: So exactly what is a DFB?
Snobby Player # 1: A trip through the sewers mindlessly PLing and all sanctioned by the Devs
Snobby Player # 2: Yeah only the weak and lazy do that thing. Its supposed to teach you how to do very basic stuff.
It continues for a bit but you get the idea. These two geniuses were basically telling a newer player that the sewer trial sucked and he should avoid it at all costs. The best part was not a sole in Atlas Park, sadly myself included, stepped in the present our New Player with any other opinion.... I just didnt feel up to a heated debate with a couple idiots LOL -

Quote:I fail to see why this is a problem.... I'd say by the time you reach the repeatable purchases, you've earned a discount.I disagree. The problem I see is not with VIPs spending their PRT from their subscription on it but with them buying Paragon Points and spending the reward tokens form that on it.
Using the middle rate suggested (400 points) that means you could spend $15 dollars on Paragon Points and get a total of 1720 points in return (1320 from the cash + 400 from the token). That works out to about 0.87 cents per point which is a pretty hefty discount over the base price of 1.25 cents per point or even the current best deal of 1.04 cents per point (not to mention that spending $100 dollars on points and then tossing all 8 PRTs into points would give a price of 0.78 cnets per point). -
Paragon Points!
I don't doubt this has been suggested before...but why not? One token for 300-500 points to spend in the marketplace when there's nothing we want on the ol' pyramid.
