Honestly, what's wrong with giving Premium players who previously purchased Going Rogue access to just the Alpha Slot? That seems perfectly fair to me.

A lot of your point seems to be contingent upon this statement so I've singled it out: When I bought Going Rogue around 5 months ago, there was an Alpha Slot to be had upon my purchase, and that is why I made said purchase.

This argument is just silly. When I am told I need to pay to access a certain feature on one hand, so I do.. And then on another hand I'm told that everything that I paid for would remain in tact, except for this one thing which was apparently not a part of the transaction I made almost exclusively to purchase it, I start to get confused and shake my fist at my monitor a little.

For the record, I believe that side-switching, being the point of Going Rogue, may have been the bigger draw.
Well, first of all I want absolutely nothing to do with the Beta argument because I wasn't around for it anyways.

For my part, I was told I couldn't use the Incarnate System without first buying GR. Why should access to the Alpha Slot which I paid for (Please don't try to tell me I didn't pay for it. I was told I needed x amount of money to access y thing, and so I complied.) be unavailable to me under a model where past purchases remain valid without a monthly subscription fee?

Granted, this is all hypothetical. I have no plans to be anything but a VIP subscriber at any point- But I don't think that should make it any less valid.

Heh, no worries- I would honestly (now that I'm thinking about it) reserve the all Kheld lambda for some time in the future, when we can plan it out well enough in advance to get a nice-looking league full of perma god-moded, fully level shifted Khelds.

The last time we tried this (on Protector Day) only two of us had all of our level shifts, only two of us were perma-eclipsed, and (no surprise) it took us forever to kill the security guard and we could hardly dent Marauder.... So, it would be better to go in with a more developed game plan/solidified roster.

From my perspective, I didn't care much about anything in GR and probably would never have purchased it in the first place if it weren't for the Incarnate access it granted. That would be just like taking the tip system away from Premium players (the second biggest contributing factor in my purchase decision) as GR was, by your logic, "just a prerequisite" for that system also.

The point is that your argument is obsolete since anything could be considered "a prerequisite" within the expansion- Will premium players have access to Resistance Armor costume pieces, or were those also just a prerequisite? What about making characters in Praetoria?

The fact remains that access to the Alpha Slot was a potential driving factor in people purchasing the Going Rogue expansion.

Well, I think the point is more that Aneko is unaware that very recently, we had to buy GR in order to access the Alpha Slot. This was not during any sort of beta, this was on the live servers... The driving force behind me buying GR was so that I could work on getting alpha abilities for my first level 50 character.

Side note: Single target fights tend to be a pain on endurance since you can't use Stygian circle; you might run into a problem with burnout's debuff, even if you wait to use eclipse.

Hrm, well I still think it would be much more useful for Tri Form Shades who Dwarf-Mode AV's (read: Most of them) to get the double eclipse and super-mires.

  15. This might sound selfish, but I have no problem with returning players not having access to Incarnate content- I've already had an issue with a lot of current players not knowing how to run trials, I would hate to see the floodgate open to even more people who have no idea what they're doing. Sorry, but I already got all of the "Wow this is cool!" out of me; I'm doing them for the rewards now.

That being said, I have no gripes with Premium players (Edit: Who have purchased GR) having access to the alpha slot and as it was the only one available during GR, I can see the point in them being allowed access to it.

Yeah this is a big problem for me. I also appreciate all the hard work you guys do on Mids but I think I'll have to keep using the last version as it's a pain for me to not get my enhancement values right on builds (and I don't have anything planned for the new sets anyways- I was mostly looking forward to this because I wanted to see how I could work in APP's early on some builds.)

Play a cold/? Defender. I don't play alts very often, but I have been enjoying my level 35 Cold character lately. You get a great mix of buffs and debuffs, making it easy for you contribute quite a lot to a team.

So, my question is: Assuming lots of solo play, what is the best tanker power set?

First of all, why do you say that you have no choice but to solo? I am assuming you know how tells and global channels work? I know that if I was playing on my main server (Protector) and someone posted in a channel I visited, or sent me a tell saying that they were a new player and couldn't find anyone to team with I would more often than not be willing help them out.

Alternatively if you're new and you're having trouble finding people to play with, Virtue or Exalted might be a good place to make characters. Both are high population even at odd times- I've seen the help channels booming on both servers well after 2 AM Eastern Time.

The moral of the story is: You shouldn't feel like you have to play any certain Archetype because you're having trouble finding people to play with, especially right now with so many people making new characters due to all the new goodies. If you want to solo, that's a different conversation, for which I would agree that a Scrapper or Brute would probably be better for you than a Tank.

Oh no, you might have to lose the medicine pool, and then the amount of awesome Warshades who use it would go from... 1 to 0.

Yeah that's true, and it's why I'm still debating. Also because I'd have to work in Super Speed... *cringe* The fact that it would cost me 2 powers makes it pretty much impossible for me- I dropped grav snare for the s/l shield after our last talk, so I wouldn't mind dropping that for Burnout but idk how the heck I would get SS in. On my Tri Form builds I find my power choices are much more 'free.'

Hmm, but do you think being able to cap your Eclipse with three targets would make your Human Form shields unnecessary? I'm actually thinking about trying to fit it in somehow.
  24. I just thought of this, and now I wish I could fit burnout into my Human form build, but it wouldn't be worth the sacrifice. If I was playing tri form, however, I would absolutely take Burnout. here's why:

Single targets/AV's are considered the main weakness of the Warshade. However, with the addition of Burnout, you will now be able to:

-Cap your Eclipse against three targets (with proper slotting)
    -Double stack your Human Mire

The second point sounds so much better for Tri Form since Dwarf Mire already double stacks, and Dwarf is considered the best AV form (edit: For most tri-Form builds.) That means you can have 4 mires active against AV's for the entire duration of Human Mire, and even 5 at times during that period.

Edit: As for the issue of the endurance penalty, wait to execute your second Eclipse until after the Mires have been stacked.

I just thought I would share this because it's a way to cover what's considered our biggest weakness. It's true that Burnout is on a long recharge and for a lot of people that might make it worthless, but as Warshades we won't encounter situations where we need it very often anyways. When we do, though, it will be incredibly useful.
