I ordered a new computer earlier today. For my final act (or at least one of them- I want to make a Warshade video too) I shall record a video of my i24 Fire/Ment on Beta soloing a GM (perhaps more than one,) 54x8 Malta, 54x8 Carnies and whatever else I feel is worthy of being in my ultimate "Blasters Rule" sendoff package. If you're nice enough about it, I might also take requests!
I do want the crashless nuke and snipe + inherently better DPS of Fire Blast + no redraw for the purposes of this video... But since he is /MENTAL (The official WINNING! set of COH) he will not be taking advantage of any of the "Wellfare Buffs" that Blasters as a whole got (the snipe and nuke changes were for Defenders and Corruptors too, thank you very much!)
-
Quote:No one trolls me! There can only be one.lol, she was totally trolling you dude. She likes her arch/mental just as much as you do/did.
I don't buy it though. She plays her Arch/Ment at range constantly. Like a bytch. I was gonna say girl but I settled for bytch. Because being a girl is no excuse for playing a purpled out Arch/Ment like a common defender. If you're a Brute and a Half, you should show it! Tank for everything! Even tanks.
Apparently "bytch" with an i instead of a y does not exist on this board. -

Quote:Eh? Old people communication barrier I presume. What settings for Babelfish do I need to get that in English ?
You were *speaking down* towards Blasters during *Kheldian Fridays* last week. Are my acronyms sufficiently understandable?
Quote:It sure is.
1387 badges on my main blaster and she has killed everything from pylons to GMs , I might KNOW how awesome blasters are.
EDIT:
If you're so sure about Blaster capabilities, you might want to avoid saying that Blasters playing in melee are an embodiment of 'e-peen,' since if you properly min/maxed your Arch/Ment you would know that it plays best in melee. You would also never say in KF (once again- Kheldian Fridays. I now have to remind you which events you participate in, without using acronyms, apparently) that 'Dominators are better than Blasters,' because if you had a properly optimized Arch/Ment, you would know that your spawn clearing speeds could only be matched by Plant/Psi Dominators... When they leverage Seeds of Confusion, and nerf their own reward rates to match your speed. And if they aren't Plant/Psi, they can't even be in the BALLPARK of Arch/Ment, in terms of all-around God-Mode capabilities (GM killin, AOE, clearing speeds, WINNING in general.) -
Quote:I know I was happy with mine. Wonder why other people had such problems ?
You were downing Blasters in KF's incessantly last week. You've also been on record in team chat in the past implying that playing Blasters in melee is an "e-peen" thing. So you're either being sarcastic here, or you don't even KNOW how awesome Blasters can be. -
Quote:Method 1: Press your Dark Extraction key to target a corpse, then press your unchain Essence key.
After these runs I have a little more of a grasp on how the build plays, but now have a few new questions for you. In terms of Unchain Essence...is there an easier way to get it to target the dead? I LOVE what it does, but in the heat of the battle I find myself sometimes unable to use it because I just can't seem to click on a dead body. (I'm a clicky player, by the way. I don't even use my number keys to activate powers...I actually click them LOL...except for TP which I have in the 0 spot of tray 1). Any suggestions for me in regards to that? I think it's odd that Dark Extraction auto-targets dead bodies when you click it, but Unchain Essence doesn't!
Method 2: Use a bind. I use /bind l "targetcustomnext enemy defeated$$powexecname unchain essence"
Mash the key a couple times and bam, nuked.
I think that's right, but if it's not I'll recheck it in game.
Quote:I sensed your frustration a while back in regards to the endurance questions, but this was literally the ONLY drawback to my play tonight. End was such an issue that I even had toggles drop 2 or 3 times. Now I'll admit that some of that could have been my own fault with not using SC enough and I DID have ALL the toggles running, so I think the end issues tonight were more my own fault than any fault of the build.
Quote:I did run into mez issues a couple times ...but again, that was more my play than the build. I don't have Clarion or the melee Hybrid (only have the Support one) ...and only used my T3 Barrier a couple times. Also, my defensive numbers are still a bit lower than they will be given that the Alpha I was using tonight was the T1 Cardiac to help offset the end usage. Also, leading the teams and being the first one in meant that I was taking the brunt of those mezzes.

I know a lot of people were hatching diabolical, overpowered schemes for their Blasters in i24.
Here is what I was going to do with my Fire/Mental/Mu (replacing the Posi set in RoF with a catalyzed version of the second ATO set.) I'm glad I didn't buy all the boosters I would've needed ahead of time, hah.

Quote:Why didn't you just make it on Beta? You can get incarnate components for free through the merit vendors in Ouroboros (and all the expensive enhancements too if the market isn't already stocked up on them.)I did notice that his defense numbers are at around 26% instead of the 32ish that shows on mids..I'm assuming this is because my WS doesn't have the Alpha ability that yours has slotted in the build. I have Spirtual T3 and Cardiac T1. I know I'll have to spend some serious time incarnating to get the goodies necessary to build up more options for his Alpha and Destiny slots. (Currently only have T3 Barrier).

Quote:Well Newchem, some people buy what's on the lot. His budget is a hard $890 including shipping and tax and it includes a 22" 1080P monitor. So that's a really small budget for just the rig.
A hardware geek like us might be able to configure a better computer from what's available as choices at CyberPowerPC for the money but for someone who isn't waiting for the NDA to expire on the GTX 650 and 660 reviews in two days or has a bookmark tab of review sites and searchable benchmark tables, you buy what's offered that's within your budget.
Also, what Santa said. -
Quote:THB: What the heck are you doing?!? I love reading your CoH builds because they were good, but your choice in PCs is like a CoH character walking around with a gimp build with no enhancements.
CPU should be Intel. Forget AMD, their Bulldozer chip competes with their old Phenom II line and loses to those chips.
If you say "500W power supply" I just won't bother, who makes the unit matters quite a bit. You can still pick up quality PSUs from Seasonic for not too much money $80 and those units are well built and come with 5 year warranties. Sure you can save $20 on a Delta built unit with thin wires and cheap parts, but you will end up replacing the unit due to parts failing or making annoying noises. (Antec Earthwatts 380D that means you) You want to stick your shiny new $400 video card, $250 CPU etc into some cheap unit? Go right ahead.
Do your homework on this THB! Don't disappoint us. Take your time and find a good deal, don't rush into this and get burned for being impatient.
Hahaha, this is the nicest way I've ever been condescended to.
The truth is that I am exactly that when it comes to this stuff: A total nub on an energy Blaster who doesn't know the difference between defense and resistance.
If you want to throw something together for me that I can order without having to put it together myself- Once again, including monitor, Windows, keyboard mouse and shipping, for under $890 I will help you with any builds you might be struggling with! Barter time.

Stuff I was/am working on leveling, at varied rates of success and frequency...
Cold/Psi Defender
Rad/Sonic Defender
Dark/Rad Defender
Dark/Dark Defender
Invuln/SS Tank
Dark/Time Controller
Plant/Psi Dominator
Bots/Time Mastermind
Elec/Nin Stalker
DP/Dark Blaster
Energy/Energy Blaster
Crab Spider
There might be more that I'm not remembering right now.
I was also looking forward to make a DP/MA Blaster for i24. I was going to name him something like, "Totally not Neo" (and dress him accordingly.) -
Quote:I'll have to test it out to see how it actually works in-game...just had SO many end problems with my attempts at similar builds ...then seeing stamina with just the single slot in it had me a bit worried. Not doubting you at all, just my own insecurities.
Ah so you don't run tactics continuously huh? I actually thought you did because of some of the lack of accuracy in some of the attacks (26% in Shadow Blast, Orbiting Death, and Gravity Well). But, perhaps the +69% global accuracy boost negates the need for more accuracy slotting there.
Thanks again for all the insight. It's been eye-opening!!
Make sure you get all your passive accolades, the +end from those adds up quite a bit.
Also, Mire is like 2 seconds from perma and it gives massive +tohit. That combined with my global accuracy bonuses is more than enough unless my tohit is being debuffed. -
Quote:AH I gotcha. You use it more as a control than an attack. That makes more sense now. It's not a power you use in each mob or all mission long...more used sporadically or as needed. I gotcha.
Was going to edit my last post and add this, but you answered so quickly I will have to just post it here...do you run all your toggles all mission long? Or, do you drop some during the times you have the Eclipse buffs and Barrier buffs going ? (I know you already touched on Endurance concerns, but that's sort of where I'm coming from here)..
Specifically GE is great to open up with- push the mobs all back before going in for eclipse>mire and they're half stunned by the time you get there. It's also good as an emergency "oh noez my fluffies!" power... I always keep my pet window open and so if I see one of my fluffies' HP depleting rapidly I'll target through them and either use GE or provoke depending on the situation. But like Grim said, it's a control, not an attack.
I run all of my toggles at all times aside from Tactics which I only turn on when my ToHit is being debuffed, and gravity Shield which I only use for aesthetic purposes/when I forget to turn it off. I turn my travel powers off (sprint, SS/NR) during combat too. No endurance issues, once again... I have a perfectly fine consumption to recovery ratio- It's at 2:1 which is what I aim for on all of my builds. It also has one of if not the best end recovery tools in the game, with Stygian Circle. Not sure why you think end would be a problem on this build at all. -
Quote:First of all, I built enough recovery to curb my stygian circle usage. I use SC an average of once per 8 man spawn to keep my end where I need it. 1-2 targets every 4 cycles through my attack chain is more than enough, as a rough estimation. Thanks again for posting. I have a few questions for you from a guy who has always loved MFing Warshades, but has consistently run into issues when trying a human only build....
1.) What's your strategy for handling endurance issues? With all those toggles running, it doesn't take long at all to start dropping toggles as the endurance plummets rather quickly. Are you just basically constantly using Stygian Circle? How about when you are in longer fights (as with an AV or such)...how do you get that endurance back in situations like that?
For AV fights my attack chain does get a bit draining without having SC targets at all, but I'll generally be pulling food for Mire anyways during those scenarios so I end up with SC bait.
I also have inspiration macros for everything including blues, and if I see myself approaching a rough spot I will equip Ageless for the DDR and secondary benefit of +end.
Really the only time my endurance becomes a problem I can't handle is against Arachnos Mu's and Malta Sappers. I have targeting macros set up for them so I can either Gravity Well or Gravitic Emantion them before they can drain me. The Megalomaniac/Vanguard Medal accolade power is very useful for increasing the effectiveness of your mez when you need the extra boost too- I use that as often as possible in challenging situations.
Quote:2.) What about all the mez issues that Human Form Warshades have been infamous for having to deal with? LUCKILY, toggles such as Tough, Weave, etc don't drop anymore when mezzed, but Inky Aspect and Orbiting Death do... and regardless of if they are up or not, it's always irritating to be standing there mezzed just waiting for it to run its course.
Quote:3.) I noticed you went with Agility as your Alpha choice...that definitely helps with the recharge and defensive numbers. I also see you went Reactive as your Interface. Can you speak a bit to your Incarnate choices (including ones not shown such as Destiny and Lore?
For Hybrid I use Melee Embodiment, mostly for the taunt aura but the status protection is nice too.
For Judgment- I use t4 Ion (extra damage) for farming or fighting easy mode spawns like Council, etc. My main Judgment is t4 Void with -dmg since it adds an extra level of mitigation.
Lore I use the extra damage branch of t4 Cimerorans.. Since they do a crapload of damage.
Obviously Agility Alpha is a godsend- It's a big part of the reason why I'm able to reach 32.5% to melee/ranged/aoe damage and still keep Eclipse perma.
Reactive Interface adds the most to my DPS and stacks -res with my FOTG proc in Orbiting Death.
Quote:Thanks again for this. It's given me many ideas on ways to clean up my own Human Form build on my 'Shade. -
Quote:And yet GG continues to trash the single most supportive game and by extension its community after this bombshell has been dropped on us. CO devs, players and mods have gone out of their way to welcome us into their game and had nothing but nice things to say about COH and its players. GG spits in their face with comments that call their game "unplayable."I will say this.
GG absolutely INFURIATES me on any normal day looking through the forums. The constant condescension. The one-liner snarks. The overuse of smilies. (Nay - the seeming inability NOT TO USE A SMILEY, thus rendering them insincere and useless.)
BUT...
These are NOT normal days, and GG has been a SOLID ROCK.
That's what it means to be a part of a community. That's what it means to be part of a team. That's what it means to be COMRADES.
When your backs are against the wall, you step up and show your "A" game.
Golden Girl is showing us all what a real "A" game means this last week. And I salute that. -
Wow, thanks a bunch guys. I appreciate the fast responses.
Quote:Right now I'm looking at $890.00 max, including shipping, tax, Windows, monitor, keyboard and mouse.
What kind of budget are you playing with here? We might be able to suggest something only marginally more expensive with a slightly better performance profile.
Quote:Also, if you're buying a CyberPower system, I'd look at going directly to their site and working up a system in their configuration matrix. It'll help you dial in price and options you want more easily.
Quote:That's a nice monitor. However whatever modern 3D game you choose to play on it, you won't be playing at native resolution with high game settings and a 30+fps frame rate with a GT 440.
Quote:The price they are selling that for is reasonable. Any reason for Amazon over somewhere like NewEgg?. They have this i5-3450, 8GB, HD 6670 for $700, the cost of that Amazon rig plus replacement video card. That's a Intel Ivy Bridge quad core (which would whump the FX-4100) with a bit faster video card. The downside is the power supply is from an older era and would very likely require you to upgrade if you end up wanting to upgrade to a more powerful video card in the future, but I'm guessing the Amazon FX model has the same problem.
Quote:
Here's a chart of a few common titles at various settings showing the vast performance difference with those two cards. A 7750 doesn't require a 6-pin PCI-Express power connection either, and is around the same price (even slightly cheaper some places) and totally blows it away.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/535?vs=610Quote:Also - get this rig instead if you're going to just add in your own card. No sense in paying for the crappy card that comes with the machine if you don't need it and can put that money towards a better system.
http://www.amazon.com/CyberpowerPC-G...p_ob_title_def
Wow, that card with that machine does look like a better combination. Saves me some cash too... Thanks!
(You are talking about this card, and it's compatible with the machine you linked, right?) -
Sure, I'll take you a screenshot of the build in Mids too for the sake of convenience.

1. I missed you dude.
2. Yeah... No. A bunch of us are going to play Champions. And never touching another NCSoft product again. -
Quote:Beyond the whole no other game chatter response, you probably need to get a higher watt P/S as well.
No sense in respecting NCSoft's rules when they don't respect us, their customers. The CO community is bending over backwards and going out of their way for us while NCSoft gives us the shaft.. So I see nothing wrong with mentioning CO on these forums.
Sorry about the rant though, and thanks for the response. Speak to me as if I'm a child if you don't mind, and specifically tell my why I would need a new power source; Will the one on board be unable to run the intended card upgrade at all? And if that's the case, what is an affordable alternative/upgrade that you can think of, if you don't mind?
Thanks a lot! -
Hey guys.
I'm looking at completely replacing my computer in order to enjoy Champions Online and get more out of the end of COH. If you have a few minutes to help me out- This is a duplicate of a thread I posted on the CO forums:
So, my current dinosaur of a computer has gotten away with running COH... But it's literally impossible to even launch CO on this thing. I will spare you the horrific specs.
I'm ordering up a completely new computer next week.
I found something pretty cheap on Amazon that I'm seriously considering.

I'm also planning on picking up this monitor.
Now.. Where you guys come in.
Will this setup be able to run CO smoothly on high to max settings? (Feel free to approximate or give non-committal answers on the COH board, obviously.)
Or
Am I being swindled and taken in by an illusion of convenience? -
How did this end up going? Sorry I couldn't make it.

Quote:THANK YOU for this. I've been wondering for MONTHS what you've been talking about. It's GREAT to finally see it. Absolutely love the build.
For some reason, when I open your build the sixth slot on Dark Detonation is empty. Can you fill me in on what you have there? Is it the OverWhelming Force Kb-Kd proc to keep things from flying away?
No problem, I hope the sense of suspense was worth it.
Yep! That's for the -KB proc. -
