Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of S/L softcapped toons and I know even with everything a WS has, more mitigation is more mitigation, but it seems like a waste. You have hard capped Res to all damage types, a perma mag 2 stun to handle pretty much all minion damage. A Mag 3 stun on a 12 second recharge to effectively stun even bosses when stacked with the mag 2 aura. If the controls and hard capped damage res wasn't enough, you have a massive heal up every 8 seconds, that with just a few bodies will take you from 1 hp to full. (As well for endurance) On top of that? You have two, possibly 3 Mini Nukes (If you count judgement) if you need to make some dead bodies fast, and you seldom do thanks to your health at best slowly dropping with hard capped resistances.

In my experience, getting more HP (In the 1550 - 1600 range), proccing out attacks, and adding enough recharge to have 3 pets out perma gets you further in the long run.

The majority of incoming damage attacks in the game are s/l. While tough enemy groups do have other types of attacks, softcapping s/l defense lets me solo every enemy group in the game that I've ever tried on 54x8 with minimal or no inspiration usage. It also helps greatly with soloing AV's.

Every time you use a mitigation power (a stun) you are executing an attack that is not damaging. Nine times out of ten when I use gravitic emanation it is as a courtesy to others on my team. When you are fighting 54x8 malta and you get to the bottom of a spawn, there are 2 full health Zeus titans left, and your Eclipse and Mire both ran out, you are dead without high defense, unless you run away, which means at the end of the mission you'll be left with either living bosses scattered all over the map or a bunch of them all together who followed you and then proceed to beat the crap out of you. No fun at all.

    Human-Only WS?

Kemphler, looking at the second build you posted in this thread makes me think that you didn't listen to anything I told you when I tried to help with the first one...

Shadow Blast is a big part of your single target attack chain. You can't just not take it. You slotted Shadow Bolt instead? And slotted it for slow? Without even taking Shadow Blast? Fwahh.

Ok, here's the deal. You need a single target attack chain. It's what you do against single targets. Arch Villains are single targets. Your build is level 50, right? So I'm assuming you're playing at level 50, doing level 50 content.

You want to build for survivability and damage output, so I'm assuming you don't just do 0x8 radio missions. That means you're probably doing Incarnate content and end game TF's, so you're going to be fighting lots of AV's. For AV's, you need strong single target damage.

You basically have two options in terms of an attack chain. The first is G Well>Eye>S Blast>Eye. This will yield you the highest DPS available to a Warshade with ideal slotting, ie: purple and PVP procs and through the roof enhancement values.

Your second option is G Well>E Drain>S Blast, or something to that effect. This chain will be less damage, but it'll also provide you with a heal every time you hit E Drain, which will be particularly helpful to you since you haven't managed to softcap your defense, and judging by your lack of high end enhancements it doesn't seem like you're after the best DPS attack chain anyways.

So, my advice to you: Take Shadow Blast. Take all of those slots out of Bolt. 1 slot it and never use it. Get some better values for E Drain. Slot Gravity Well as an attack. 4 Kinetic Combats, a nucleo, and a proc are good enough for both.

As for your alpha slot: Go Spiritual Core Paragon. Musculature just isn't something I'd recommend because Spiritual benefits Warshades in way too many ways. You get a free Heal enhancement for Stygian Circle (not that you needed it) and Essence Drain (So you don't really need to slot it for heal.) You can slot Unchain Essence as an attack and get a free stun enhancement for it. And also, there's the recharge. Recharge is good. It'll save you a slot in hasten.

And now on to more stuff.

First, why do you have Quasar? it's a nuke with a crash. This is a human form Warshade build. It has toggles. Crash plus toggles is bad. And even if for some reason it was logical to take Quasar (which it isn't) it won't be doing you any good one slotted. Bad choice.

Dark Detonation. I've never used this power. It scatters mobs away from your Mire and Eclipse radius. It also scatters mobs outside of Orbiting Death. And it does crappy damage. None of these things are good. Dark Detonation isn't good.

You overslotted Shadow Cloak. 3 slots max in defensive toggles- The slot crunch is rough. If you're not getting the defense values you want, 3 slot w/ LOTG recharges and 2 Enzyme Exposure. On my build, I am able to softcap s/l defense and still keep the 3 slotted LOTG sets for the set bonuses, but if you aren't, just use Enzymes. Don't waste slots.

Stealth? You can't run that with Shadow Cloak. Take Maneuvers and Vengeance for your LOTG mules. They're actually useful.

Why did you 3 slot Inky with Stupefy? I 6 slot it with the same set on my build for the recharge bonus. That would make sense, but you didn't do that. You did something silly. Stop doing silly things. You're making me pull my hair out.

You should have Dwarf for the set bonus mules. You made too many bad power choices, and Dwarf would have been a great power choice. It would let you stop doing things like overslotting a single target immobilize and overslotting a t1 blast you'll never use for slow.

dwarf would also provide you with 3 free kinetic combat mules to softcap your s/l defense and free up wasted slots you've used on stuff like getting proper enhancement values for your powers and taking things that will actually help your performance.
  3. Geez, that's a lot... Congrats on the accomplishment. I'm imagining how much a Claws/Elec or /FA Brute would've earned- Was AE disallowed?
  4. Well we couldn't even succeed on an 'introductory' Minds of Mayhem run with no emphasis on badges. I'm sure that this is going to be the usual trend with Incarnate trials on our server, in that other servers will be doing Master runs by the time our whole population learns how to succeed on the trial. I've been doing both MoM and TPN successfully and even picked up a couple of badges on Virtue, but all of the explanation in the world isn't going to help our 'special cases' on Protector so I don't think these will be going into the rotation for a while.

That being said, next week will be Underground again... We missed Avatar Assassin last time we tried it, so I would honestly be up for just aiming for that and not worrying too much about the rest of the badge qualifications, if most of the people who come along are okay with that.

We also have yet to get Loves A Challenge and Avoids the Green Stuff from Keyes, so I'd like to set that one up next... With a comparable league from last time we did it, if possible.
  5. Yea I ended up not being home Friday night. Sorry about that, hope you guys had fun.
  6. I wasn't around either. Did you guys manage a successful TPN? I've only tried it a couple of times and both failed.
  7. I feel like a lot of people are playing the same game as me for very different reasons, many of them very foreign and interesting to me. I wanted to start this thread to share why I play the game, and because of my morbid curiosity about why other people might.

This was a hard thing for me to figure out- I had to really think, and get down to it, and figure out what exactly my "goal" was. I finally figured it out, though, and it turns out there are points to it.

1.) I love killing as much stuff as I can, as fast as is possible. This isn't satiated by dealing exclusively with easy enemies, though. To me, there is no joy in COH like soloing some of the toughest enemy groups (or toughest individual enemies) on the highest settings and living to tell about it. It is the height of personal achievement in this game to me.

    2.)
I love feeling challenged. I like to feel that my characters can accomplish something impressive, and a big part of that is pushing said characters to their limits (and sometimes beyond.)

3.) I like earning what I get. For me, there is a certain satisfaction in watching a character grow and evolve. I enjoy investing time and Inf. into my characters as they mature towards their potential, and the payoff is reflected in items one and two.
  8. Ex, I know that I totally up and quit on you tonight,so I wanted to take a minute to justify my actions before I leave COH for the night....

I have a problem. I am simply not okay with ever dying at the hands of level 15 enemies. Even if I'm level 15 too, technically, I'm just not willing to accept it. God did not give me the grace to accept exemplar level changes. I require all of my powers at all times. If something that is not a level 54 Sapper or a bunch of Mu bosses and Tarantula Mistresses is able to kill me consecutively, I just stop having fun.

The worst part is that I needed a lot of those badges- And I'm grateful to you for putting this together. I just, am not yet ready, on a personal level, to risk subjecting myself to the risk of dying. It just feels degrading to me. >.>
  9. It looks like we have a couple of new trials to work into the rotation.

I am going to give these a spin a few times this week and see if I can't get familiar enough with at least one of them to have a badge run this Friday.
  10. Wow Stalemate, how many charges does your 'Summon Canadians' temp power have?

There's really no standard meet up place, we usually coordinate in our Kheldian Fridays channel or Protector Vigilance. Usually someone will post in this thread ahead of time with what we'll be doing next, so just standing by the contact around start time (10 est) works too.

That's a verrry subjective question. Human only Warshades, in my opinion, have higher potential at maximum investment. That is to say that human form offers more survivability with perma eclipse and softcapped defense, which tri form can't do without severely gimping functionality. It also has higher single target damage output, once again at max investment. With the current form shift animation times, and based on nothing but my own personal builds, it also competes with Tri Form on AOE damage, due to more consistent output.

    HOWEVER...

Tri Form is going to be better at pretty much anything on any build but an all out, 'I love my Warshade, here's all my money' budget. If you're not going to spend over 10 billion Infamy on your Warshade, but you still want to play an extremely powerful and versatile character, The MFing Warshade is what you're looking for.

Even then, you might feel that you enjoy the Tri Form playstyle better and choose to invest a bunch of cash into that- It certainly never lacks in effectiveness.

Hey, if by "largely useless" you mean "Sept cleared all the groups surrounding Layla when she died and gave her wakies while Stone was speeding ahead and leaving her behind" or "Sept tried to protect those poor hostages that Stone was trying to kill" then yes, I was worthless. I did beat the crap out of the AV's though, that's just something I can't resist.
  14. The first place winner was Donovan Cosantoir, a Dark/Shield, with a time of 8:55! Congrats to him, and thanks to everyone for coming. Everyone elses times/info is posted here.
  15. In other news, the villain team won the LGTF race after my master plan to infiltrate the heroic ranks succeeded! I actually convinced them that I was reformed, and I wanted to help the good guys win... MUAHAHAHA.

  16. I didn't save the incomplete times, but everything looks right to me. Congrats to the winners! Thanks Stalemate and Stone for the help.

Edit: In case anyone is curious, Donovan was on a Dark/Shield and Ms. Halflight was on a Fire/Shield. I wanna say Warrior was on a Katana/Invuln but don't quote me on that.
  17. Just a reminder that this is going on today at 5pm est. That's 3 hours from now, meet up in RWZ.

Next up was the all Kheldian Lambda. We had a special visitor from Virtue, Dechs Kaison. But before we kicked the tar out of that trial (and nabbed myself a very rare incarnate salvage) we ran a new Warshade Heaven. I would post the video, but apparently xfire doesn't let you upload videos over ten minutes. Good to know.
Can you use your magical Stone powers to edit into 2 different videos? For those who weren't a part of it, myself, Stone, AIB, and Dechs took on a 54x8 patrol-loaded mission complete with a level 54 AV Bobcat. It was pretty epic.

Thanks to you for coming along Dechs, it was a blast. I hope you didn't hurt your arm signing autographs after the trial!
  20. Awesome job on the all Kheldian Lambda guys. Sorry if I was a bit grumpy during the trial- Last time we tried on Protector Day, we only had 8 brave aliens who were up to the task, and I think I was suffering from repressed feelings of DOOM! but this time it went off without a hitch, we fed Marauder his teeth at a brisk pace.

Thanks to everyone for coming, I'm sure Stone will be along to post pictures and all that other paraphernalia soon.

To be determined- I'm kinda hoping the new trial comes out this week with Titan Weapons... Maybe we can be the first ones to do it as a master run. (Unfortunately though, I know nothing about it... If it doesn't work out MoLAM should be next.)
  22. Heh, thanks guys. I'm still surprised that we managed Bunker Buster, which is sort of complex to orchestrate.. And managed to miss Avoids the Green stuff, when all you have to do for that is, well, avoid the green stuff. Still, we had a great league and it was a smooth and fun trial. Thanks everyone for coming.
  23. Start time for MoKeyes is in a half hour! If you signed up, please meet us in Pocket D.
  24. Stone was getting grumpy earlier about people signing up after his deadline (last night...) I will have to have some words with him, but I'm pretty sure I can nudge him into letting you guys join.
