Meh, like I've said a thousand times the final version I provided you with had a 2:1 recovery/usage ratio so it meets the standard of "end sustainable" that you set. The ST chain being sustainable was under "extras" wasn't it? I'm still not convinced that it'd be entirely unsustainable. Worst case scenario, you'd have to make the +end temporary power for single target fights (people even do this for pylon challenges already) and you could still run Barrier for your pets. You already said you had boosters so I didn't need to worry about the extra IO in Hasten, and you'd only need +2's, not +5's for your defense toggles on my build. You also already said you could live without Omega Maneuver. Kind of sending mixed signals here and I am disappointed that I chose to participate in your contest now since it doesn't seem like it is being run fairly at all. I have met all the conditions you set and you're still keeping it going which seems very underhanded to me.

Quote:Please would you show me where I have even once stated farms or fighting outdoors? I have not, you are the only one that brings it up. Scatter is a problem everywhere. Thin hallways? The get flung two major directions and only really long cones can bring them back. Open area is hopeless, they get flung to the four winds and nothing will bring them back.
The only time when it would possibly actually increase kill time is in those tiny office rooms.
For the record, I do not farm anyhow.
Yea I like to do normal missions (Dark Astoria arcs most recently) on all my favorite characters on 54x8 not necessarily to farm, though drops are always nice, but because it's fun and challenging to me. Also don't forget about KB getting stuff into geometry, but that will sometimes happen no matter how well you're utilizing it (gah, you're supposed to go against the wall, not through it!)
Anyways Darth I'm glad you're on board with the -KB immobilize idea, AIB would be pleased. We can agree to disagree about how we play our Kheldians but I'm glad we've reached an agreement... Now if only the devs would agree. -
Quote:Earlier I suggested that both brands of Kheldian simply get a tAOE immobilize added to their primary with -KB so that knockback is essentially optional. Would you be opposed to this? It seems like it would be a simple fix, everyone's happy kind of thing.Nobody said anything about needing KB to survive mate. It's clear you don't prefer the nature of the set no need to make stuff up it is a YMMV type deal afterall. I mean you do realize some people like a different type of playstyle that Energy Blasters and PB's bring to the game right?
I recognize it is not the most popular style and on teams it requires a certain degree of high level management with timing and use of powers many button mashers don't want to deal with, but some others like this style and want it to remain.
I have to say I remember a couple of hard campaigners regarding this very issue prior to Freedom and in the past as well. One thing I do support from the devs is even with changes made to the PB over the years, they have kept the base nature there for those us that love it and that I will support in the future if any further changes are ever made. -
Quote:I didn't say anything about the levels but if you must know its 54's that I fight. The slows down spawn melting PB's and Energy Blasters are hardly the top choice for outdoor farming, but that applies to other AT's/powersets and is nothing unique to the PB.
In terms of mop up I don't have any issues with that, but I suspect those that don't take and slot the human blasts would as many have stated YMMV. Switching to nova is also clunky which would add to the annoyance factor for those it applies too. I don't and never have had this personal griefing issue and I suspect that is a YMMV deal as well.
The personal style is much like an energy blaster and that is a particular style in the minority in the game for sure.
I used to run a human only PB and I felt like the TAOE and Cone were comparable to Nova AOE's but let me tell you they're not. With perma Inner Light, a catalyzed Form Empowerment global, and Nova's inherent damage bonus the AOE is much better than the human form AOE's. The shifts still need to be sped up and toggle suppression needs to happen but there's no question that Nova is the most practical AOE form, due to Solar Flare and Seekers being gimpy. I'm willing to bet that you do not often solo 54x8 on your Peacebringer because if you did the location KB would drive you insane guaranteed. -
Quote:I was referring to the "effectiveness" of KB in it's entirety. That means the damage and the KB mitigation. If something is on the ground and cannot shoot me until it gets up I also consider that part effective, scattered or not.
This is why I really feel this is just personal preference and I am clear who does not like KB, a fact of which does not and will not change it's actual effectiveness. It most certainly is not as effective for hitting outdoor spawns or farming no doubt.
So once again I don't consider only a portion of the equation as the end all be all of any power which I why I enjoy the semi-chaotic nature of Energy Blasters and the PB stylistically.
You're playing a Peacebringer. If you need KB to survive, you're doing it wrong. -

Quote:*Cough* Archery.
Outside of Fire, its unclear who does more damage. It comes down to number of AoEs and the DPA of single target attacks, depending on what you're looking at. And actually Scrappers and Brutes tend to have just as many AoEs: some powersets have more and some less. But they tend on average to have significantly better DPA these days since animation acceleration made them faster. -
-
Quote:I referred purely to KB as that was what you were referring to. You cannot use PS's knockback effectively, they must be right on top of a mob a explode. And they move. Not to say the move cannot be effective, but the knockback can't.
Solar Flare doesn't do enough damage to justify the scatter; Dawn Strike does. I don't see how you can onehit minions with it. At level 50 it has a base 67.12 damage, minions have something like 430 health. Even slotted with max damage and muscular alpha it comes nowhere close. Dawn Strike, on the other hand, has a base 216.88, and it is completely plausible to onehit minions with that. Also, Dawn Strike actually has a lower chance of knockback (75% vs 80%).
You sure you aren't confusing one with the other?
Yep, also DS has such a large radius that it can be used as an effective positioning tool, just line it up like a cone.
edit I think he was talking about KOing minions with Seekers, pretty sure that's doable but still not worth it. -
Quote:I disagree that hitting targets with a mini nuke is ineffective. I don't know your slotting but mine kills most minions and does significant damage to those above them, which of course is what I consider effective.
I suspect you are talking solely about the directional aspect of things which I feel is shortsighted in this equation.
We don't all fight +1's and +0 no bosses with our characters, lol. Photon Seekers might kill a few minions and take less than a quarter from LT's but on 54x8 the scatter slows down spawn melting, the damage isn't worth how long it takes to mop up after the KB. It griefs how many targets you can hit with your other AOE's to the point that it's faster to not use Seekers or SF. -
Quote:Ohh nice, I didn't know that... So if catalyzed ATO's can be emailed does that mean the catalyzed versions can just be purchased on the Black Market? I didn't think they could be traded at all. There is a workaround, if you don't mind burning enhancement unslotters and converters - follow these steps for your Blaster with the full set of Superior ATO's:
1. Grab a spare Blaster ATO
2. Unslot your superior ATO and replace with the spare
3. use excess catalyst on newly slotted ATO
4. use converter(s) on unslotted superior ATO until you have something the other character can use
5. Email to the other character
6. repeat until all excess catalysts used -
Quote:KB is not an AT or powerset problem it is a personal problem.
Some people use KB and proper KB mitigation on the sets that have it right now just fine and like it and others prefer some other powerset or AT that does not require KB mitigation. WAI.
Regarding OP suggestion it is not bad it is good, but I think the ROA type targeted ranged option is more appealing.
The KB in SF and PS are a powerset problem because it can't be used deliberately. Location KB where the point of impact is right there like that can't be used to reposition spawns deliberately, so the "good KB" argument doesn't apply. -
Quote:But the initial explosion of terribleness would still be enough for me to not take Photon Seekers.I picture them functioning like EEs (same type of attacks) in other words...scatter not detonation.
Quote:Which could easily be done via Umbral and Luminous Mastery.

(I think one small problem here is that T Tentacles doesn't have -KB. But, that could be easily rectified.)
I wouldn't want a cone immob, I want a tAOE. >.> -
-
There's also another solution for the KB problem: Give Kheldians a tAOE immobilize with -KB. Tada. Knockback is now optional.
-
If we ever get Fire and Ice themed Kheldian sets, I will never complain about anything about this game again and I'll buy every single thing that comes into the paragon market the day it comes out for a year to show my appreciation.
-
Quote:That too. Though, with all the KB flying around with a PB, much of it being PBAoE, a bit more can't hurt all that much. Yes, it would be uncontrolled, but you'd be hard pressed to not scatter mobs anyhow.
Exactly why I don't use Solar Flare or Seekers on my Peacebringer. All the other AOE powers can be used in a way that doesn't have to scatter mobs all over the place. -
I love/hate converters. They totally wrecked me in one way, because I got two legitimate good purple drops running DA on my Peacebringer this week, I think an Armageddon and a Ragnarok. I love them because they're going to make it stupidly easy to purple out a character whenever I want, but I hate them because they devalue drops that used to make me really stoked.
-
Almost exactly this, except sometimes I'll make 2 tier 3 destinies before I make a judgement due to the added versatility on trials. Once I have at least one t3 in every slot besides judgement, I'll do the t1 Judgement and then get to work on t4 Alpha or Interface depending on the build (sometimes saving different things for both at the same time.) t4 Lore and Judgement are generally the last things I do, but then my main has every Destiny at t4 except a t3 Incandescence, 2 t4 Judgements, 1 t3 Judgement, 1 t4 Lore, 1 t3 Lore, 1 t4 Interface, 1 t3 Interface, and 2 t4 Alpha's. Sometimes I wish I could give some of that stuff to my alts. >.>

I'm starting to get irked by their availability (or lack thereof.) My Blaster already has a fully catalyzed ATO set, and he's sitting on 2 or 3 extra Catalysts that he couldn't do anything with even if he wanted to. Does anyone know if there's been any mention of making them account bound instead of character bound?
I would love to swap some amongst my characters, and it'd also be nice to see them as a reward table for completing DA arcs and I-Trials (and purchasable with Villain/Emp merits) with a fair cooldown. Just wondering if this has been addressed on U Stream or anything, I never get to keep up with this kind of stuff anymore. -
Quote:My last post made me realise that somehow I missed Mag 4 KB protection off the must have list, but I guess it is too late to add it now
Another noteworthy thing about the builds I've provided you with. Aside from meeting all of your 'must have' criteria, as well as your main 'bonus' criteria, my builds are not reliant on any Destiny ability. Softcapped defenses without Barrier, perma-pets without Ageless. This means that you also have the option of using Clarion for KB protection. I personally recommend getting all of them and swapping between them on a situational basis. -
Also they should do KD instead of KB so they're useable.

Just finished up for today, and the Stalker was back with a vengeance. There are a few things I noticed that I find are worth mentioning.
I noticed that for some reason, I'm terrible at using AS while in hide. For some reason, about every third time I go to use it I'll que it in perfect position, go into the little AS stance, but then the power just won't work and I'll still have to pay the endurance cost. I'm not sure if this is WAI and I'm just bad at Stalking or if it's buggy.
The second thing I noticed was that I seriously need to set up binds on the Blaster to switch between Hover and Ninja Run before I start tomorrow. It's incredibly tedious not having one, and one doesn't detoggle the other like with CJ and NR so I have to manually hit two buttons and I feel like it slows me down (not to mention drives me crazy) every time I need to move faster.
Anyways here's the info for today, and thanks Arcana. The debt was totally erased on the Stalker via patrol XP so they were really on pretty even ground. I'll make a point to always play the Blaster first from this point forward (yesterday was the only day I didn't.)

Quote:Drop leadership? On a perma-pet build? This is madness!
Keep in mind the spiderlings and reinforcements spawn at -2 and -1 respectively. Without the tohit bonus from leadership (Kismet bonus does not affect them) you might as well just put blindfolds on them.
The OP has some verrry tight restrictions on this and they're hard to accommodate. I think I already had it as close as possible to right-on-the-money with the build before that one but I guess it wasn't good enough to seal the deal so I presented another alternative. >.>
