Giving us stuff we were supposed to be getting - probably trivial.

If by stuff for free to have fun, you mean beta quality access to the paragon market for everyone... Cringe. The workaholic min/maxer inside of me would probably have a heart attack if all of a sudden the game was full of freely purpled, decked out characters with everything +5 boosted at no cost to the user. I want my mains to go out with the integrity they earned. I don't want it to be eclipsed by a Paragon Point free-for-all.

Freitag you should go work for Cryptic, and bring all of Paragon with you.. Or as much of them as you can. Go. Hunt. Give Champions Online an Incarnate system.
  3. Might want to update either the second post or the OP with the appropriate mailing destination.

Also: Stamps, man. How do you mail stuff to Korea?

Edit #2, I missed the address in the second post.

But still.. Stamps. How will this work? And do the US branches of NCSoft have anything at all to do with their decision making that would have killed our game?

He is the exact opposite of me: He logs on every day and plays like he never heard the announcement (Yes denial)...me on the other hand...I log on; chat a lil and log. Some of us just want to keep playing and enjoying the game while we still can. I mean, I sign the petitions, I like the things I'm supposed to like on social media pages- Including the CNN articles, etc. But I do not think there's a realistic hope for COH to be saved. The best case scenario I could see is someone hacking out a private server, and I have no interest in playing an illegal version of COH without the awesome devs and legitimate community that made the game what it is.

Look, I'm sorry for my prior post. I would prefer to edit it out of existence, but I've vowed never to edit a post once its been responded to. They're my words and I need to stand by them, explain them, or apologize...

    I apologize...

My post was based on offense taken from a, very few I admit, responses. I've lurked here long enough to expect Golden Girl, but FMe eyes over my wife's deathbed? Really? My post was a knee jerk response and a massive over-generalization...

CoX has a class act community. Many of us over at CO know that. It's tragic to to see a tight knit community, any community, torn asunder. Our offer is genuine, our apologizes are sincere. If you choose to visit, we will do our best to welcome you. Just please ignore zone chat...

As for graphics, I get it. I had the same problem switching over from EQ to WoW...

    Shutting up now...
For what it's worth you were complaining, but you were also saying a bunch of nice things in the process. That's easily overlooked, since yeah- A lot of COH players are pretty upset and prone to criticize Champions at the moment. We all love this game but some of us are handling it differently than others.

Sadly, it seems that, at least by some, CO here is being treated with much less respect by the forum community than CoX is over in our neck of the woods...

I seem to remember a little while ago when I came back to check out CoX F2P and I mentioned in game that I preferred CO. I believe the term another poster used here was "dog pile". Yeah, that. But it was no big deal; quite common if F2P games. I didn't and don't judge your community by that...

I tend to judge the heart of a gaming community by its forum community. And currently I'm a little disappointed...

And for those of you who think I just created this account to troll, I played CoX back for 6 months back in 2004. I've returned off and on. I've accumulated 3 years of subscription perks whatever you call them. CoX just isn't the game for me. And no, I'm not going into some long diatribe as to why. It isn't and that should suffice. CO is, again no diatribe, it should just suffice...

If you don't like CO, fine. I fully understand. It's not your cup of tea. But we're trying to extend a hand here and some of you folks are spitting in it...

This to me is pure class, and a perfect example of why I'm moving to CO.

How many WoW Devs do you see doing this?

    What about SWTOR?

    DCUO?

    TSW?

    No?

    None of them?

The Champions community, including their Dev's, players and community team are bending over backwards to make us feel comfortable and welcome in their game.

Granted there are going to be some trolls, but hell.. I play on Freedom. I'm used to trolls.

I've seen a COH thread stickied on the CO forums. I've seen this CO player post here. I've seen Back Alley Brawler post here. All going out of their way to be welcoming and polite.

They're hosting an official "Welcome to Champions" event for COH players in early December, endorsed by a red name within about 3 posts. Good luck finding that anywhere else.
  8. I'm lucky enough not to have pre-paid any months; I just leave my card on autofire. It is complete B.S. to give someone who might have purchased up to a year ahead of time, for example, "NCSoft credit" though. Do they not realize that the majority of us will never touch another one of their products again?

Now if i24 could roll out and "fix" everything like they say it would have....

    Quasar......

Well if you're looking to get some mileage out of your Warshade before the doors close and participate in our fun community, feel free to join us on Protector next week for Kheldian Fridays. We also have a Kheldian Fridays chat channel that we use.

    I was wrong.

For those unaware, in CO there's an auto chat banning system where if you are petitioned more than X number of times by other players, the game will auto silence you from chat. I think from *all* chat. For a long time. It was meant to allow players to self-police RMT sellers.

Which in and of itself is prone to abuse, but that abuse can lead to your own account being banned if you do it too much.

    And then they went F2P.

Remember all the debates we had here about how important it was to be careful about what free players could do, what premium players (who didn't sub but bought something at least once) could do, and what VIP subs could do? In CO, F2P players can petition towards auto-banning.

The rest is left as an exercise for the reader. PS: I have eight F2P City of Heroes accounts.

This is... Pretty annoying to think about. I wonder if they have a decent petition feature at least for subscribers... If GM's are able to access chat logs and respond to situations promptly, this shouldn't be as much of a problem as it seems like it is. I doubt that's the case though, since "deputizing" every single player sort of implies a low level of in game moderation presence to begin with. Cringe.

Eh? I already said I thought it was more stylized. I'm not trying to debate you or change your mind, just giving my opinion. The opinion here being that it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Funny, I actually like Perez Park's look. It looks precisely like a park that hasn't seen maintenance in some time.
Maybe it wasn't that one. I don't know. It was one of those random hero zones that hardly anyone uses and isn't even connected to the train. And it looked like what was probably an awesome game world around the time the original Playstation came out. The silliness was only tacked on when I observed the contrast between my character's completely modern and pretty sweet looking costume and his surroundings.

  18. Shrug.. Maybe my inner optimist is just taking over. But I don't know if I really agree. It sort of reminds me of a Pixar movie in some ways, but it does have a very sleek and modern feel to it.

I think something worth pointing out during the graphic discussion- And I hate to mention it- Is how much nicer their environments are, especially compared to some of the older COH zones. Granted, the Atlas Park revamp and Praetoria are awesome.... But for example, I play villains almost exclusively. The other day I decided to make a new hero and ended up in Perez Park or something. Oh man, what a hideous looking zone. I felt like I was walking into a Sega Genesis map with an XBox 360 character model. It was silly.
  19. looking at some of the screens posted on their Facebook page, I'm starting to get confused by all the graphic hate. Granted, it's more stylized than COH, but it's honestly starting to grow on me. Also.. Batplanes.

    Just idle musings, really.

Actually if I'm remembering correctly (I've been reading so much about CO the last few days that I might be suffering from information overload) on a Free Form character you can switch between builds on the fly with a 10 second (?) cooldown. This means that the same character can somewhat fluently switch between different passives, roles, etc.

The closest thing it reminds me of in COH is Kheldian forms, but with a 10 second minimum to spend in each form (so no MFing Warshadin.')

It does seem kind of odd that CO was made after CoH, and yet seems so much worse. Hopefully it'll get better, and the influx of CoH refugees will push development along a bit.

The AT's in CO work differently in COH. I've been doing some research, and have come up with this impression:

Each Archetype is like a preset build in City of Heroes. So, for the sake of this example (might not be accurate) The Inferno is a Fire/Fire Blaster. Archetypes also appear to have a set progression of powers, so you can't choose what you get at what level.

On the other hand, you *can* add stats to different powers to alter how exactly they work. It seems sort of like slotting enhancements in COH- A damaging hold can be slotted for either hold, damage, endurance reduction or all of the above, and you can decide how many slots to devote to what. I think it's a bit more involved than that in CO though, ie: You can sort of choose which secondary effects certain powers have.

Now, this is all for the preset Archetypes. They also have a "Free Form" system for their equivalent of VIP players that allows you to pick all of your powers and even choose from completely different "powersets" as we understand them. So if we had something like that in COH, you would basically be able to make a "Titan Weapons/Fire Blast/Invulnerability" "Free Form AT."

While the AT's seem much more restrictive than our AT's are, their Free Form system seems much, much more loose than anything we have access to.

(Anyone with actual experience playing CO, feel free to correct anything I might have gotten wrong. I've been doing research but haven't actually started playing yet.)
  24. I have to say I've never seen Combat Jumping placed on such a threshold by anyone, lol.

For me the primary purpose of that power is a LOTG mule and a bit of defense.
