HAH! In my defense, I was knocking down a grate solo to keep the raid going. Finished, too, just as the Rikti Magi caught up to me. :P

...very, very afraid of this thread now.

I need to figure out how to get that into my signature.

Gaddammit. I hate seeing good people leave, even if it's for a good reason. ;(

The two of you are top shelf. I'll miss you, and hell, get me your contact info, or... (segue's into Luna's commentary)

We have a growing community of about 30ish Horde Players on there, and some of us have become much better friends because of it. In fact, I think that's the part of you two leaving that sucks the most. That I won't get to talk to you all anymore, and keep up with how you all are faring in life. That's the part that makes me weepy. You can even use a fake name and pic like Turg does on there Just something for you all to consider.
This, this, this. I know it sounds ridiculous, but FB has opened a door for ease of communication for people who dig each other, but aren't exactly tied at the hip. It lets people stay anonymous if they choose to do so, and easily keep in touch not just in regards to a game, but for more general social interactions as well. I post all of my Thor pics for Luna's sakes, for instance. But it's a great way to keep abreast of each other's doings, either with a direct friendship or just participating in the Horde group (which has new and expanded functionality these days).

Paragon, I may not has ur stuf, but u has meh respect.

MB, you're a fun sounding board for all sorts of ideas, and that's what I'll miss the most. Go recharge your batteries, do what you need to do. And for #$@^'s sakes, keep in touch!

If the servers do go back online at our midnight then i doubt it'ld be a good idea to log on since more than likely to be next to nobody on, wednesday onwards be best!

That being said i'll be still playing on union quite a lot but making a few new alts on freedom so could you suggest which channels are the best to join?
    Yo ho, Damz.

    1. Very good point about my timeslots. I game during weekdays around 10pm-1am EDT, which is 3am-6am GMT I believe. Weekends are somewhat more flexible, chores willing. Wife's outta town though, so I might creep in earlier on Saturday and see what's going on during your primetime slots.

    2. I have a thread on the Freedom server where I list the most commonly populated Freedom channels. It's stickied as "/AC GET_WINGS? No!..." ....sorry, newbie griefer humor. Use that as a reference, but more importantly I'd suggest stopping by the Freedom forum and announcing your intentions, like I did. Our forums aren't frequented as much (we like to say we're too busy tearing up the house in the game, or as our detractors are fond of saying, "Freedomites can't read"), but we're still there, and help where we can.

I guess the big question is, what toon to send over to you guys... hmmm... I'll roll up a noob toon as well, but it sounds like I'm better served getting into the mix with the big guns. I'll pick something appropriately garish and brash for the occasion!

Thanks for the tips, and if you have more, then share away! Got some global channels that are good to watch, apart from Lady Arete's list from Sunday? (Sals Badgehunters - why Sals?... Union Taskforce, Union Chat, Union Roleplayers)

  6. gimme gimme gimme swag
Thanks for a fun contest, PERC! You all should compile the winning items in a thread for ease of reading.
  7. I'm withholding from putting my name on the schedule, because I'm in the middle of reorganizing my PT appointments, which impact when I can play.

I'm glad to step in for team lead if needed, but because I'm typically on-call, I end up AFKing occasionally, or (you guessed it) pass out from having so much fun. :P You might want a better, more reliable team lead.

...But on a day where I've turned off the phone, I got my 8 hours of sleep, chugged a few V8's and am hyped up on Sudafed? OMG, step back, the Doctor is IN.
  8. I love gyros. Heya Duos. Ευχαριστώ για λέγοντας γεια!

You should do one. It's really not hard so long as everyone understands the basic requirements. I know there are regular raids orchestrated on Freedom. If you want in, I'll let you know where to ask.
  10. Had a good time last night. I think Doc T's VMerit collection is somewhere in the 3000 range now thanks to you guys. We should do this more regularly.
  11. Heya, Unionists.

Well, if all goes well today, we'll have the two sets of servers available to one another. I've been jonesing to visit Union for a while now and see how you people work the hero scene.

Trying to decide if I want to transfer a 50 over to dive right into the mess with you all, or to grow a toon from scratch and check out your lowbie scene. Which do you think is more feasible? How's your young toon crowd vs the capped veterans?

I'm really looking forward to meeting a lot of you. If any of you want to visit Freedom, look me up an' I'll give you the penny tour!
  12. Tch. Fail #1, my bad.

Stupid Archmage not activating. It red circled for like six seconds... no activation after I JFS'd into that Rikti group, with my AOEs parked and ready to trigger...
  13. Confirming that I'll be attending tonight. Toon TBA, but might be Gun Father (DP/Fire Blaster).
  14. I think I'll be there. (I know, I say this a lot.) Gun Father (DP/Fire Blaster), I think. I haven't rolled him in a while.

...I don't think I indicated anywhere that I would be attending. I'm at work for late shift that day technically, although I'll be honest and admit that I'll be jonesing to push that shift on the FNG if I can.

My complaint isn't about me not getting it, understand me. It's about you AFKing in a base all day to get it. The core of my complaint is that, historically (and I'll amend this shortly), these sort of tactics lock out willing participants from attending an event for the benefit of others who are basically doorsitting for the same event.

(I also have extreme distaste for AFKing for any badge. Look up any of my posts about Day Jobs, and you'll see where my ire comes from.)

But apparently, you're in luck. I just had a helpful chat with someone on this. For this particular test, the goal really is to test overall server capacity, not zone participation; AND, they really don't believe we'll bring the server to the point of lockout, even if we hit that high 3500 mark, or even higher; AND, for this event, if you can't be there in person, AFKing in a base would actually HELP their test, in this one instance. I wasn't expecting the last two to be confirmed, but there you go.

So, Dragynn, I retract my complaints to you on this tactic, and apologize for my drubbing. If you need a base to AFK in, let me know and I'll invite you to my SG to accommodate. Same goes to anyone off-server who needs it who won't be in attendance. Let me know here or in-game if you're interested.

Sorry, when I said "you" I directed it to players who'd use the SG base AFK mechanic, not you, Eric Nelson. I was clear on your position, but sorry I didn't make my own position as clear.

    Going to bed now. Cheers.

If I thought there was any chance at all that doing so would block anyone or somehow mess with the devs' plans, then I'd completely agree, but given their statements, I find it very hard to believe.
    A. Maybe. I asked. Let's see if there's a response. If they say "nope, won't matter, the doors are wide open, we're that confident", then yay on AFKing for a badge, you're a testament to hard work and dedication.

    B. Freedom's one of two servers that's had regular total lockouts in the past with double XP weekends. We've never been that far from the threshold before, but as noted earlier, the expanded stability code is in place on Live right now. Assuming we get a horde of badge squatters PLUS interested players PLUS the standard Friday night population? Yeah, I think we'd be well over the previous "hard cap".

    C. I dislike it when people do nothing and still get a badge. It's my "Day Job" hatred all over again. Might as well call it "You spent 8 hours AFKing for this badge".

It's one thing to hop in and hop out just to get the badge. It's another to AFK in a base for hours on end and potentially put other players into queue or lock status while you're doing nothing. They might stretch or turn off the queue, but even Zwillinger acknowledged that things might "go awry" with the test. I read that to mean "hitting the hard cap, preventing effective logins beyond what's already there". That benefits the AFKer at the detriment to the willing player they'll probably end up locking out.

    Sorry, it's an obnoxious tactic.

That would be counterproductive to the reason why they're holding the event, and would otherwise take a login seat to someone who was actively trying to attend or play. (Assuming we hit quota, which I'm taking for granted.)

Good point on this though, I'll suggest to Zwillinger to flip the reset switch on the server just before the event to make sure this doesn't happen.

I am way behind schedule on a number of personal projects and would greatly appreciate it if the game would be allowed to become boring. I never intented to play another MMO again after my last experience with one but COH continues to release systems and content that are fun, exciting, and different, putting a serious dent in the time I am able to devote to my professional development. In addition, the developers continue to respond to player requests with a speed and efficiency that make it increasingly difficult to hold grudges or throw meaningful tantrums. I'm sure I'm not the only paying customer who feels like this game is on the right track, and that this is the worst thing that could be allowed to happen.
This. I, too, am tired and the developers want to become my last exciting dent in my professional development, as well. I request, in light of Tex's secret message, that grudges throw the only paying customer on the track.

    It's the only way.

And I had quite a blast of it, too. The actual IoP event only took about 10 minutes. The rest of my time was working on some opportune stuff at the time, like the pillbox badges (which I'd completed on Infinity as well, far quieter than on Freedom vs PVP hits at the time).

Good times. Doing that event sparked off a wanderlust for me to go to Champion for about 2 months. I was planning on an all-servers tour, but then I got homesick. XD

Hm. For anyone who participated, did it open up any new badges for you? Even if you didn't "get" one, do you have new progress bars?

I think it's more like the anniversary events, or Rikti Invasions. You show up, take down some enemies, have some fun. I'm not sure if there are badges associated with it or not. I know when we finished our TF, there were 4 Peregrine Islands spawned, and I think by that point the invasion had moved on to the Rogue Isles.
    o.O

They STARTED? What time was this? And on Freedom, or somewhere else?
